Boring game, I'll go through a few posters lists!
Truss: Anyone from America from 1980-until Tyson got owned = great.
AdamT: No-one is great, apart from Floyd. Ohhhh Floyd, when will you let me cradle your balls = great.
Rowley: Anyone who fought in pre-invention of the TV = great.
Chris: God knows, lose interest in his essays before I get to the main point
Rowley: Anyone who is from Sheffield = great.

To be fair to Khan, he is a good boxer. He just has too many vulnerabilities to be great.

Fixed that for you.
Sorry to butt in on another Amir khan't club meeting. Though such is there regularity it is tough to find a window of opportunity between them.

Not just fought in front of 80,000 truss. He knocked out George groves in front of 80,000 people.
Not only is he great, he's a massive international superstar... If he says so himself.

I think Froch is great, at least in British terms. You would never see him pancaked by a nobody and he always fought the best. The 80,000 thing is a bit much!

Re: Great or Not?
This one might be controversial
Michael Moorer = Great
Why?
He was one of the best light heavyweight champions ever who then moved up and won the greatest prize in sport so I see Moorer as a great.
The 90's era was a great H/W era and he can be ranked with the likes of Holy, Bowe, Foreman and Tyson.

Re: Great or Not?
Not much seperating Holmes/Tyson 80s and Lewis/Holy.......Though Holy was a heavy in the 80s..
But Douglas, Thomas, Witherspoon, Weaver, Spinks, Page, Tubbs, Dokes, Tucker, Biggs, Smith, Bruno.....probably means more strength in depth
Though Bowe, Tua, Moorer, Mercer and Morrison, Foreman were good fighters and belong in that group..
George obviously being a shell..

90's no doubt.
The 80's was mostly a Holmes affair then along comes guys like Whittiker, Bonecrusher, Bruno, Dokes, Tubbs, Ribalta, Cooney, 'truth' Williams, and pulling up the rear a certain Mike Tyson
compare that to Tyson, Holy, Bowe, Lewis, Morrison, Moorer, Tua, even Cooper.

So you will disregard the fact he was a 2 weight world champ in a talent rich era???
If he aint great then what does his accomplishments merit?

I think he's a mile away from what Michael Spinks achieved....
Qawi, Pops Johnson, Mustafa Muhammad...5 years unbeaten as champion....unified the title.....Beat Holmes twice....
Moorer had a crap at the time WBO belt (It was junk then) ...Never fought anybody decent at 175........and beat a poor Holy...losing to a slob in his first defence !!..
Do me a favor..

You can't rate a fighter on what he might have done...
I'd pick Jones jr to beat Ray Robinson at 160...

Yes Truss, but Froch had the audacity to call out Calzaghe and criticize him, so regardless of what he did in the ring, it means in Wales he can't be classed as great, you know the score.TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Steffan wrote:Carl Froch - Great or Not?

Truss has stated before the only fighters from Britain that he rates as as great over the last 20 years are Calzaghe, Naz and Lennox

Which was of course completely legal until the Hall fight, when it (andros) was banned by only the IBF.

The "ripped fuel" excuse of course was never proven. Jones tested positive for a steroid - that's all we know.

He held an ABC at light heavy and will go down as one of the poorest heavyweight (lineal) champs in history. He was not a great fighter.

A steroid that wasn't on the WADA banned list and had only just been added by the IBF, as far as the WBC and WBA were concerned he didn't fail any test.

Jones tested positive for a steroid. He was six times over the normal limit. Ripped Fuel would not put an athlete that far over the limit.
Jones tested positive for an anabolic steroid. Jones's promoter first blamed a nasal decongestant and then Jones blamed Ripped Fuel - neither was proven.
Jones is a drugs cheat - like it or not.
