First topic message reminder :
With Warburton, I can only conclude that they like him as captain because of how he deals with referees. He's very respectful towards them.

Hugh Gustaffson to Ospreys. Odd one that. What do they see in him? OKi-sh player, but better atthe Ospreys already surely? Not a great prop or hooker, just ok at both.

Wash your mouth out. In the superior environment down West he will be challenging for international honours by next season.

Just put it on our thread Griff, I basically put the same as you, we have Baldwin, Parry, Otten and Dwyer already, unless there is a proper structured A League or Dwyer is going back to his proper job (Army) I don't see the need.Griff wrote:Hugh Gustaffson to Ospreys. On our forum announced Dwyer is out of contract at seasons end, so could make sense.

Re: Gwent Dragons 2015/16 thread
Gus was probably 4th choice for us. We have TRT and Dee as the main contenders, then Rhys Buckley was brought back in last season from Donacaster (if memory serves) and has played more for us this season than Gus.
Without wanting to do us a disservice, if Gus is 4th choice at the Dragons then I can't see him getting a sniff at a top 6 team!

Maybe we are getting Matty back - he is a Newport boy after all.

I get that he will probably enjoy himself more at Llandarcy, rather than training at YM with the Chuckle Brothers, but it's a bit of a pointless move. We obviously didn't want him, but I don't see the value in Ospreys signing him. Surely there must be a Prem Player in "Ospreylia" that could step up, if needs must.

I actually think Gus will be a good acquisition in a powerful pack he will add more dynamism and I still think he's a great ball carrier. It remains to be seen but I think it's a good move for everyone.

If Gus is down the pecking order them he'll likely be playing in a pack of players whom are also down in the pecking order... Having a straight swap with Dwyer would make sense, I can maybe find out about that this week...

They are certainly building depth. If he plays more for them next season that he has for us this season, I will be amazed.
Not sure if anyone here is on Facebook, but on the Dragons supporters page a few are talking about essentially boycotting a game before the end of the season; turning up to the ground but not going into the stadium. Doubt it will get off the ground but I thought I would mention it here.

To high light the fans continuing distrust in the current coaching setup I believe.
Obviously its pointless unless media are contacted, the concerns are published before hand and ideally the boycotted game is televised.

The downside to doing that is that you will miss the chance to be part of the official goodbye to Faletau (and any other who retire/leave) as they usually do award type things after the final home games of the season.
That said didn't the Blues do that a CCS when Martyn Williams retired, that seemed to work for them.

Yes, hence the ground we now play at.

Why isn't there a NGD Supporters Club?

Exactly.
Yep.
Jebus though. All I used to read on FB was people not seeing anything wrong with Lyp and using the fact we were at one point above Cardiff and the One True as an endorsement for him. Things must be bad. A protest won't achieve anything, I doubt especially as there are too many happy clappers who will still go in the ground. Ten people doing a little stand outside won't even be noticed by anybody.

Why isn't there a NGD Supporters Club?
Closest thing is the Friends of Newport Rugby. Whose objectives are here:-
2.
The Society’s objects are, either itself or through a subsidiary company or society trading for the
benefit of the community and acting under its control:
i. to strengthen the bonds between the Club and the community which it serves and to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club;
ii. to benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting encouraging and furthering the game of rugby as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement;
iii. to further the development of the game of rugby nationally and internationally and the upholding of its rules;
iv. to encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions;
v. to encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation on the board of any company owning or controlling the Club and ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic
elections to the board;
vi. to promote, develop and respect the rights of members of the community served by the Club and people dealing with the Society as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of
the European Union, having regard in particular to the need to provide information to members and conduct the affairs of the Society in accessible and appropriate ways;
vii. to promote any initiative in which the Club is involved amongst the community which it serves and to encourage community involvement in such initiatives

Because no individual or small group has bothered to set one up.
Re: Gwent Dragons 2015/16 thread
Maybe there are other reasons and motives for Gustafsons move:
"Ospreys rugby general manager Andrew Millward said of Gustafson: "He's someone who wants to compete for the shirt and he's eager to push on with us.
"Off the field he's been doing a lot of coaching already with aspirations in that direction and he can be a huge asset using those skills."

I thought he had another season.
I'm not sure on one. The other it seems like it's happening. Been rumoured too (non international).

But did we play any rugby? Or was it the usual kick-a-thon?

I went to the match GD but the only protests I saw/heard were against the ref
The played ok tbh, they just need a bit more cutting edge in the backs. Perhaps a better coach will sort it out but the Dragons to me seem a confidence team which is lacking a little at the moment.

Plenty of territory and possession, but when we got into Glasgow's 22 we really didn't look like we knew what we were doing. It was quite depressing, because we've scored some good tries this season, but we didn't look like scoring yesterday.
