Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Yep, runs the exact same way in terms of actual scoring and matchups, but just means its a lot more long term than either the season long or keeper leagues

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Great, think the good thing is that we can do a slow draft for dynasty, doesn't need to be at one go
Reckon we need 8 minimum (ideally more), so will see if others are interested

I'd give it a go... just going for offence, or is there IDP in it too... I sucked at the IDP part last year!

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
OK .. my initial thoughts
24 man rosters
Start - 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2/3 Flex, K (optional)
2-4 IR spots
Standard scoring
For the draft, 2 options
1. Do a full draft after the NFL draft in April, with all rookies included
2. Do a draft now/soon in random draft order, then have a 3 round rookie draft after the NFL draft, in reverse order from the original draft. If we do this, no trading of picks in this draft
I prefer option 2 of those
After the first season, have a rookie draft after the real NFL draft each year, and you're able to trade picks for picks/players in that draft.
Waiver wire - done on a blind auction basis, annual budget of say $100 for all waiver bids during a season
Anything obvious that I've missed?
If everyone wants to add IDPs/Team defence can add those too
Can also consider an auction draft if thats preferable to a snake to start up
Happy to change any of the above too

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Balance between roster size and the waiver wire is so important in a dynasty league. You've got to reward good drafting and roster management while not punishing the opposite to the point where people give up because it's impossible to turn their team around. 24 man rosters would be OK but we might get better balance with smaller rosters + slightly more talent on the waiver wire. It would also make for more difficult roster management decisions which is a big part of the fun for me. You could do a similar thing by keeping only 20/24 at seasons end which potentially releases some talent back to the wire and creates tougher roster decisions.BamBam wrote:OK .. my initial thoughts

Option 2 seems fine with snake start up.
I'm fine with whatever for the waiver wire, as long as it doesn't reset every week.
I vote no for IDP, I feel you have to go all in with IDP (not just 3-4) to make it work and there is enough to think about with O# players IMO.

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Fair enough, I'm happy to go with that. Agree that want to keep people involved, it is a bit of a commitment and probably no fun if you can't see a way to turn a side around
How does 20 man rosters with 16 keepers each year sound? Based on starting 9 plus a kicker
Also been thinking about where to host the league, NFL.com and the other main sites aren't really ideal for dynasty, but fleaflicker.com seems to have a good set of options, and most importantly is free!

I think keep the rosters to the sort of minimum set so you can improve is crucial like twelve said
I like the idea of an auction draft but snake would be so much easier tbf

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Agree with option 2 for the draft process
Agree with twelve, Smaller squad size leaves more on the waiver to turn a losing team around
Don't mind how many of the players we are allowed to keep ,but agree that some have to be released at seasons end
Also a no for IDP

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Sounds good, we could even meet in the middle and go with 22 man rosters with 18 keepers. Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, couple of flex and Kicker like you said.BamBam wrote:Fair enough, I'm happy to go with that. happy with the majority decision in all cases
don't mind IDP but not too fussed
like the idea of a couple of flex though

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
I've created the league on fleaflicker.com
http://www.fleaflicker.com/nfl/leagues/179688?invite=true&eh=115041b0
League name: v2 Dynasty
League password: dynastyv2 (this is a private league and requires a password)
Can someone try that link and see if it works? If not I may need email addresses by PM to send over an invite

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Thoughts on draft date?
I'm guessing a Sunday evening would be best, might take a while given its a 22 round draft!
Please could you all vote your preference out of
Sunday 20th March - 8pm
Sunday 3rd April - 8pm
Sunday 10 April - 8pm
I've left out the 27th because its the long weekend and figure people may be away
Also, join the league!!

What days suit you better Pr4wn? I'm pretty flexible in the week, just thought Sundays are when we do the usual drafts so went with those dates

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Just Pr4wn and TM Moot left to join the league
Probably quite key to have the draft with everyone there, so feel free to propose some alternate dates and we'll go with the majority

Which means .. Wadey101 is officially on the clock!
I'll send a PM to everyone now explaining what we're doing, and the 24 hour rule on picks .. shall we be a bit more lenient on weekends?

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
Just before we start this, it's 22 rounds with 10 teams (220 picks in total) and a 24 hour clock which means this could potentially take forever.
Starting the draft now and doing it over this long a time period will give some an advantage IMO as FA hasn't started yet so some players situations aren't known. (I know it's a dynasty league but this still matters at start up IMO).
I'm not convinced we wouldn't just be better trying to find a date/time that suits everyone.

Re: Dynasty fantasy league
I guess the idea is that we get multiple picks in on most days? Free agency doesn't start until 9 March, and giving it another week to iron out the main moves won't leave us with much time to do it this way
I'm fine with doing a draft in the normal fashion, Pr4wn would you be able to commit to any of the Sunday dates initially listed? Even the one 2 weeks away?
