Kwinigolfer was the only to choose Bubba Watson and boy did it show in the scores.  He may not have had the most picks score points, that was Owen10ozzy who had five picks score, but he outscored his closest challenger by 25 points in the final reckoning.  Kwini was one of three Fantasy Leaguers to have four picks score points, the other two were LadyPutt and SirBenson who finished fourth and third respectively.  A whole host of Fantasy Leaguers had three picks score points; all of 1GrumpyGolfer's remaining picks scored points.  AlciG, Beninho, BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, Davie, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Pedro, Sand, and Super_Realist were in that group.  The remaining Fantasy Leaguers, Eyetoldyouso GolferMartin, I'm Never Wrong, McLaren, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, and TheCleaver, all had two picks score points.

Adam Hadwin shot 66 for the low round of the day and that scored points for Owen10ozzy and TheCleaver.

The Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club is a classic; star studded members and winners and some iconic holes to boot.  Five of the top ten are here including world number one Jordan Spieth.  Rory McIlroy is taking in his first Northern Trust Open and Fred Couples is extending his record run of appearances.  

James Hahn is the defending champion having seen off Paul Casey and then Dustin Johnson in a playoff.  The five most recent winners are also playing along with Charles Howell III, Adam Scott, Robert Allenby, Ernie Els, and Fred Couples.  Phil Mickelson was the most recent to defend the title in 2009 but he's not playing.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

The players ran out of daylight trying to finsh round one of the Northern Trust Open however no one was able to move the Top 5 Low Round scores mark and that finished at 67.  Camilo Villegas shot 63 to take a three shot lead into round two and GolferMartin was the only to have picked him.  GolferMartin also had one of the four other picks to shoot 67 or lower.  His was the popular pick of Rory McIlroy.  Kwinigolfer and McLaren both had two picks score points.  AlciG, BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Owen10ozzy, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, SirBenson, and TheCleaver all had one pick score points in the opening round.

With the cut line falling at even par the Fantasy League waved goodbye to 26 of their picks leaving them with 36 players for the weekend. No one managed the full set but three came close; BobtheJob, LadyPutt, and GolferMartin. Of the three GolferMartin was the closest with Keegan Bradley missing out by one shot, LadyPutt's and BobtheJob's missing pick were some way off of the cut line. GolferMartin retains his lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Cut bonuses were at a premium with just 17 being awarded. Almost as many Category C bonuses were awarded as Categories A and B combined. Category B caused the majority of the trouble for Fantasy Leaguers. Kwinigolfer was the only other Fantasy Leaguer to earn two cut bonuses from his seven remaining picks, Owen10ozzy also has seven left but only earned one bonus. Nine Fantasy Leaguers, Beninho, BlueCoverman, Davie, EmmDee57, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, Sand, SirBenson, and Super_Realist, have six picks left; BlueCoverman, EmmDee57, and Super_Realist were the only ones not to have received a bonus. AlciG, McLaren, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, and TheCleaver all have five picks left and only one bonus was awarded to TheCleaver. Hibbz has four picks left and he was the last Fantasy Leaguer to earn a bonus. 1GrumpyGolfer and Eyetoldyouso both have just three picks left.

Jason Kokrak shot 64 for the low round of the day and additional points were awarded to Davie and Super_Realist.

Keegs missed a 4-footer on his final hole yesterday to miss the cut by one; looked pretty angry with himself and everyone around as he stormed off the green. Imagine how much worse he'd've felt if he had known he'd messed up golfermartin's clean sweep.

Five players shot 66 to tie for the low round of the day and two of those were picks. Justin Thomas earned points for BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, LadyPutt, McLaren, and Raycastleunited while Padraig Harrington picked up points for SirBenson. Eight other players shot 67 to round out the Top 10 Low Round scores and five of those were picks. All of the Fantasy Leaguers, except for LadyPutt, with a low round scorer added another scoring pick. Owen10ozzy may not have had a low round scoring pick but he had three scoring picks to join the tie for the most points scored in round three.

BobtheJob's points haul sent him to the top of the leaderboard while GolferMartin did just enough to hold onto a share of the lead with one pick scoring points. AlciG, Beninho, EmmDee57, Eyetoldyouso, Hibbz, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, and SetupDetermines were the other Fantasy Leaguers to score points in round three.

Kevin Chappell, Sung Kang, and Harold Varner III were the other three players to shoot 66.

Kwinigolfer was the only to choose Bubba Watson and boy did it show in the scores. He may not have had the most picks score points, that was Owen10ozzy who had five picks score, but he outscored his closest challenger by 25 points in the final reckoning. Kwini was one of three Fantasy Leaguers to have four picks score points, the other two were LadyPutt and SirBenson who finished fourth and third respectively. A whole host of Fantasy Leaguers had three picks score points; all of 1GrumpyGolfer's remaining picks scored points. AlciG, Beninho, BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, Davie, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Pedro, Sand, and Super_Realist were in that group. The remaining Fantasy Leaguers, Eyetoldyouso GolferMartin, I'm Never Wrong, McLaren, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, and TheCleaver, all had two picks score points.

Adam Hadwin shot 66 for the low round of the day and that scored points for Owen10ozzy and TheCleaver.

As always much appreciated Grumps; quick question...just what qualifies as a grade 2 tournament..given 5 of the worlds top ten were here this weekend? Just curious as I know there was discussion tail end of last year about changes to the tournament rankings

Previously it was WGCs as almost all the top 50-60 players will be in the smaller field. Adding the Players and Wentworth PGA to that select group this year.
