Wade Barrett was rotten, never a main eventer in his puff, he looks like a mid carder, worked like a mid carder and sounded like one too, the only people who felt he could succeed were English/British for obvious reasons, if Barrett was from Miami no-one would bat an eye lid in his direction

Completely agree, Barrett was pants. What gets me though is that WWE are currently using a main eventer as a mid-card = Kevin Owens

Barrett will likely find himself very popular on the indies and if Galloway can do it then he certainly can. But he wasn't anything special and won't be particularly missed

Barrett (certainly in  The bad news persona) would have been a main event heel in the 80s. His look, style and promoting were the wrong era. Needless to say, I thought BNB was awesome.

Another victim of the Cena Train. Should have been put over in a huge way but his push died a death after that feud. Was certainly capable in ring and delivered a good promo.

Doesnt really matter if Wade was good enough to be a main eventer. As a group Nexus was main event and it made so much booking sense to give him the title so the group could have it for a run.

Why was Nexus a Main Event group? Because they were allowed to destroy ringside in their debut? Only Daniel Bryan was ever talented enough to go all the way although ironically that segment got him sacked which instantly hurt any potential momentum Nexus generated.

You blame Cena for them or Barrett not succeeding but if Nexus attacked anyone else bar Cena that night on RAW they'd not have been remotely considered a ME group - they were only ever a means to an end, the WWE were stacked up on faces and needed fresh heels to get them through the Summer so Vince brought up NXT guys which made the whole first Series of NXT totally pointless since they all ended up on the roster

I think if Cena hadnt buried them at Summerslam and Barrett atleast beat Cena in their feud up to TLC he could have been a bigger star. His ball was burst before it even got started.

If I was a guy like Barrett having just been a regular on WWE for 6 years I'd probably be more inclined to try and get into TV work/Movies than go back to the Brit Wrestling scene

When you've had such a high profile last 6 years in the WWE as Barrett you'd be able to walk into most Wrestling organisations, name value alone will dictate that

Is it not weird that Barrett reportedly decided he would be leaving in June when his contract expired but they go and release him anyway a month early

From the rumours i heard he was looking into going into other ventures outside wrestling anyway

Nah not really, I don't think the WWE had any plans for him, he wasn't pivotal to any stroyline either so coming to an agreement with him over an early release probably saved them some money.

Don't think there was anything sinister to it to be honest.

During today's WWE conference call, Vince McMahon talked about WWE injuries heading into WrestleMania. Vince said that several stars will be returning soon including Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and John Cena.

Vince also said they have introduced 13 new stars recently, giving props to the NXT brand. He said they will have more talent on the roster in the next 30 days than they have ever had before.

Considering the large numbers on the main roster, many have been caught-up and got lost in the midcard shuffle so it's something I would welcome, something I wouldn't have said 2/3 years ago.

The main creative source from NXT, I'm sure his name is Ryan, was recently promoted (If you can call it that) to head-writer on Smackdown! So I think that was always an indication of which direction they wanted to head-in.

If the brand split does happen, Smackdown will be the place to be!

Steve Lombardi, known as the Brooklyn Brawler, has reportedly been released by WWE.

Lombardi first signed with WWE in 1983 and worked the majority of his career as an enhancement talent. He transitioned to a behind-the-scenes role as an agent in the 1990's. Lombardi would oversee and produce promos with the WWE roster.

From what I gather the only release part about Christian is just cutting his active in ring part of his contract.

Creative have moved up and down from NXT and Smackdown a few times so I wouldn't read too much into it
