News items that dont merit their own thread...thread
First topic message reminder :
I totally understand that the majority of you may dislike or have never seen any form of Independent Wrestling so turn a blind eye to it but I truly believe this is such a powerful promo hyping something that we all share here...
This is Mike Quackenbush, founder of Chikara Pro and I quite frankly consider him to be one of the best storytellers in the business. Enjoy.

Whilst on paper an AJ v HBK match sounds awesome I'm not sure its a match that makes sense to bring AJ out of retirement for?

They've got to keep AJ away from Cena until Mania, and Smackdown doesn't have a huge amount of Main Event depth. If he carries on with the 'face that runs the place' schtick you could see him calling himself an 'icon', maybe even Mr. Wrestlemania and that would set the feud up.
I'd read that plans were to do Cena v Taker at Mania, but apparently it's AJ v Cena and AJ losing.

Who were those masked men?
For anyone who is interested, the trio of masked and suited men who interrupted an Impact show the other week, have their identities revealed:
Apparently they are a new stable, called the Death Count Council.

Only TNA would bring a faction in related to Death when they themselves are in their dying days.
Sums the whole thing up perfectly.

I don't like the idea of retirement matches being mere schtick. And to come back for a Rumble match? Sure he could go Mania if he does a match.
Plus it's just more laziness. Book someone properly to face AJ and let them have a real match.

Would he go to 'Mania, though?
Taker will almost certainly be at Mania, which would kind of mock the whole 'Streak v Career' thing.

That'a pro Wrestling for you though, apart from Micheals you'll be hard pushed to find anyone who has retired on their own terms and not came back, some might argue Austin but while he appears to be healthy now i don't really think we can say he went out on his own terms, he practically had to drag himself out for that last match, he'd be dead by now if he kept going IMO
It's like everything else, it's mainly used as an angle, the first one I ever remember was Macho King at WM7 and that was done from the off with the intention of him coming back to the ring for next years Mania, I've never expected anything else and don't view it as any differently to any other angle

I know, it is what it is, but there should be a real sanctity in it. Although Foley gave it what, a month? And I ate that up

I just don't get why some people feel there should be an integrity to a retirement angle when every other angle is taken for what it is

Kevin Nash said no one else knows and seems like a slap in the face to Matt Bloom
Wasn't he only meant to be taking over from Adam Pearce?

Billy Gunn is expected to make his long-awaited debut in NJPW... He's expected to tag with Yoshi Tastu under the name of 'Hunter Club' in the 2016 World Tag League. So yeah, that's happening.
ACH has finished up with ROH - He's expected to sign with EVOLVE and I wouldn't be surprised to see him amongst the cruiserweights in WWE early next year.

Think you mistaken the tone there Dolph! That's exactly the point! Who would want to see him there now!? Plus, it's quite a funny/random pairing considering how highly regarded Yoshi Tatsu is in these parts...

It's interesting, I can't pretend! I'm not up on NJPW at all but it seems uncharacteristic of them.

Re: News items that dont merit their own thread...thread
The world tag league has always been a bit of a joke, it's basically a prolonged way to name a No1 contender for the tag titles and kill time before the Dome, as the big stars go out of there way to try and avoid injury
As for why Billy Gunn, Yoshi Tatsu is doing a HHH tribute/parody act as the Bullet Club Hunter (get it?), he's also not been the same since his broken neck and is languishing at the bottom of the card, so they've stuck him with Gunn to pop whoever gets the reference and eat some pin falls during the tour
Whole were on the subject of ex WWE guys it's worth noting that as well as Gunn, the former CJ Parker will be teaming with Hiroshi Tanahashi as his annually designated job guy and the former Camacho is one half of the tag champions going into the tournament
I love New Japan but there tag division is the Frak pits

I disagree, it's hardly been a feature on RAW and it often feels put of place when lumped in between seemingly more important segments

CHIKARA end relationship with Joey Styles after his comments on EVOLVE. ICYMI, he made a joke about how Trump would be so enamoured by how one of the female performers looked that he would have grabbed her by the...then didnt say the last word. Hes apologised unreservedly for an off the cuff joke, and asked Gabe Sapolsky at EVOLVE to fire him, which he did.
Think CHIKARA doing it is a p*ssy move. It was a bit tasteless, but satirical rather than misogynistic, and seems a really overly defensive response.

Sad to hear. I did read Mick Foley is pushing for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame (while he's still alive)

Having jumped the gun before:
According to Meltzer, Michaels will work with the guys who WWE are considering to call up to the main roster, and also he will evaluate if the people who are in the list of call ups are ready to go or need more time. Terry Taylor will give them the "finishing" touch to the guys who graduate from the advanced class and Michaels will get them "main roster ready", so management will not give up on them too quickly like they did in the past.
WWE is also considering hiring a "psychology coach" (someone who will teach them ring awareness, how and when to call audibles, etc), and even tho there are no names discussed yet, it's clear it will be a veteran wrestler.
Lastly, Matt Bloom and William Reagal will remain in their positions, and Norman Smiley will teach the guys how to execute the moves in the ring .

If they need a psychology coach look no further than Regal. Guy knew how to tell a story in the ring. Jericho would be great in that role aswell when he eventually hangs up his boots.

The spelling in that thing I've copied annoys me.
There's many, many people. Flair and Austin are both still linked with the company, but neither seem likely. I'm surprised they haven't got the Dudleys involved more, and Bubba basically survived in TNA on that kind of stuff.

He looks in great shape, better than when he returned in 08 and he looked great then. Must be really hard for him to keep in shape travelling, especially with his illness.
He gets a lot of Poopie, but if he does retire at Mania 33 I'll miss him.

Definitely, he's did everything Andre did and a whole lot more, the great thing about Andre though was how protected he was and how littlenwe actually saw him, outwith major angles he was rarely on TV.
20 years, multiple World Title reigns, WrestleMania main events, he can talk, he can work and at one stage he could fly, deserves respect, he's more than earned it.

From LuchaBlog:
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1spe7vg
Alberto & Paige were at the IWRG show tonight in Arena Naucalpan (just outside of Mexico City.) There's photos of them at the show, and they were probably just there to watch Alberto's brother wrestle in the main event.
They went backstage during the show. While they were backstage, a local luchador (enhancement talent) named Alan Xtreme (aka Rafy of the Ninja Turtles) was nearby. Something happened - this part isn't clear, but something like Paige shoved the guy and Alberto thought Alan touched him, or thought he touched Paige - and the two started punching each other backstage. The brawl spilled to a hallway that connects locker room to the fan entrance way, so many fans saw the fight going by the time it was broken up. It was not a worked fight, Alan's face is said to be messed up from Alberto. I have no idea what happened to Alberto or Paige.
IWRG and the people reporting on the show have avoided mentioning it, but between the fans and the other wrestlers trying to figure out what happened, it's being discussed over on Facebook.

If she sees 2018 at this rate I'll be impressed.
