GGG interview

If this is old news on here then please discard the thread.
I hadn't seen it before and it's worth a read for an insight into the real Gennady Golovkin. Actually like the bloke a bit more now.

Re: GGG interview
FWIW I found that interview quite interesting. He's definitely more dry & bolshy in his mother tongue to a domestic reporter!

Good(ish) interview. Seems (at the time) pretty sure Canelo is a lock for Sept, I'd say. Definitely doesnt come across as the jovial character he appears in English, if that makes sense. Which makes sense given how much pleasure he obviously takes from punching people repeatedly in the face

Re: GGG interview
Glad the 'good boy' persona is just a media image. He's played the part well even if he doesn't seem to agree with it. Insightful and seemed like quite a clever guy.

Re: GGG interview
I found it very interesting. So he's a carefully polished media creation outside the ring, I'm glad he's not the smiling simpleton "big drama show". In some ways he's copying the manny pacquio template, or it could be argued the Joe Louis template. I find that thought kind of depressing.
Im sure he could just be himself, and let his boxing speak for itself. It's not like it's working with regard to PPV'S.

Could be his English let's him down so he can't be himself in interviews. Chuck out a few 'good boys' and 'big drama show'and everyone loves him. He's definitely been advised to not be himself.

Re: GGG interview
Did anybody ask him about the good work Human Rights Watch are doing in looking at places like Kazakhstan...??
"Kazakhstan heavily restricts freedom of assembly, speech, religion and torture remains a serious problem...Authorities are closing newspapers and jailing peaceful protesters...."
The opposition leader is in jail....
Ask him some decent questions..

He doesn't appreciate questions that aren't boxing related.

Great thread ranjit. Good job.
Sadly, we never did find out what his favourite colour was though.

Haha bit more of that type of honesty is what he needs. His team have tried to cultivate a DLH type persona whereas he'd be better off doing his own. Seems similar to Kovalev, no messing about.

Who cares what he thinks about that? He's a fighter - not a politician. Did anyone ask Floyd about Guantanamo?

I don't personally care for fighters opinions, on anything but actually fighting.
Unless of course someone like Ali or McGregor. They make me laugh.

Thought it was pretty funny last night when that punchy guy said McGregor and the whole UFC were on steroids. Nailed it.

Hell of a thing to say tho and I'm surprised it hasn't caused more controversy. If that happened in boxing it would cause uproar.

I think it was meant to get inside Mcgregors head to give Diaz the edge but it's still in extremely poor taste.
There was uproar when Floyd inferred it about Manny.

I think he was genuinely just saying it as it was to be fair. They're all built like little body-builders. The training they do, they'd be knackered without something to help heal and recover.

Depends how old you are as to necessity.......
Younger guys don't really need steroids as they produce a lot of testosterone anyway........
BCAA's.......plenty of sleep....etc...
But I'd wager most are on.....It's easier for sure..

Like Conor's retort though, pointing out that it's Diaz that's come from a camp full of proven drugs cheats.....

Re: GGG interview
Anyone think GGG came across a bit... Of a Mardy arse? That was my impression. Difficult I guess when you're reading and can't get the WAY he's saying things, but he come across a bit of a moody bum. Course it's up to him to show what he wants, but just show your own personality, perhaps? He was being closed off and very guarded so I don't think that's what he's like with people on a day to say basis. Or maybe he is.
At least he isn't the simpleton that could just fight that I had him pegged for.
