Weekends Action - Predictions
First topic message reminder :
There's a few PDT (Pretty Damn Tasty) fights coming up this weekend.
Carl Frampton Vs Scott Quigg
Leo Santa Cruz Vs Kiko Martinez
Terence Crawford Vs Henry "Hank" Lundy,
Marco Huck Vs Ola Afolabi
Think you'll agree for a single night, that's quite a tasty line up we have for ourselves.
Highlight of the night being Frampton Vs Quigg, for me.
So where's your guys' money on for each of these fights?
I've uploaded my own prediction and Betting Guide to the fights if you would like to see it.
https://youtu.be/Zc-pOOuTfO0
I think if we can't get excited for nights like this we may aswell change sport. Thoughts??

If anything is predictable, it's that nothing anyone has typed about the press conference or weigh in will have any effect on the fight.

Whoever loses it's going to hurt big time....
The other fighter isn't going to be allowed to get over it....The way both camps are acting..
If Boxing really is Quigg's life.....It'll be a good time for his Mum to go on holiday.

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
I actually think that mind games can have an effect on the fight. The mind is one of the most powerful tools in the ring, if you can plant whatever in someone's head it can take an effect. Especially with the scrutiny and the pressure both have on them. It comes down to who is the better fighter and how there strengths and styles play out but mentally who is the most composed and doesn't deviate from plans is also extremely important. Little decisions can effect fights.

Yes the dressing room stuff is childish...
Yeah, but you can still have that mentality of refusing to be denied and believing it's your time. Which I think Quigg seems to be in the mindset of.

I'm not praying. I think he will win with a bit to spare. I still wish it was a close fight and Frampton wins. Just can't see it.

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
What makes me wonder is why Hearn was after this fight so badly. Does Carl carry the power to keep Quigg off him? Not so sure....
Barry tried to avoid Quigg like the plague.
Quigg knocks him out. It's going to be like Khan vs Garcia - trust me

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
It was only 2 fights ago Quigg stood in front of a Japanese punchbag (the name escapes me) and didn't hurt him once during the fight or look like getting rid of him. Catches Martinez with a sweet shot and all of a sudden he's the second coming of Mike Tyson.. He could well win by KO... as could Frampton.... it's a great fight... but I think Hearn and Sky have done a great job on some of you guys : - )

Maybe Hearn has done a job.. But I don't understand how any idiot can compare Quigg to Maccarinelli.

Quigg stopping Martinez is being blown out of all proportion.
He looked in all sorts of trouble in the first round and managed to catch him on the way in....
Gallagher master plan.

He was playing possum with Martinez. He didn't look worried at all. Gallagher told him to look bad in the first, then bang him in the second.

I think the only thing being overblown is Quigg struggling for all of one round, he was in no real trouble.

Did he Truss? Last I heard,Frampton has been blasted for that performance (rightly so). Quigg is lucky Martinez was too dim and underestimated his power, otherwise we would be stuck with Frampton vs Martinez 3.
Quigg is a nice bloke and can box, but he is getting out classed tomorrow.

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
Quigg doesnt shift tickets. He struggles to even headline cards with world title defences. So Matchroom have no incentive to avoid this fight. For Matchroom this a jackpot fight.
Frampton on the other hand does sell tickets. They could continue to defend their title in Belfast in front of packed arenas against relatively non decript opponents if they wanted to. The fact they are taking this fight, never mind travelling away from home to box on a Matchroom organised card (dodgy enough in itself) should blow the idea that they somehow dont want this fight out of the water.
I think Matchroom have done a good job with their spin. There are people on here trying to argue Frampton is struggling to shift tickets and never wanted this fight. Privately Matchroom will be delighted to have hit a score like this with a fighter that whilst tlented, have never been able to make them a great heap of money until now.

I think the Gonzalez fight showed that Frampton isn't as big or as good as he thought he was, Quigg is his money fight lets not try painting a different picture.

So what? He can make good money fighting in Belfast for little or no risk.
You should work for Matchroom. They would love someone who has time to write 35,000 posts on a forum pedling their spin.

The Gonzales fight didnt show sh1t either, other than the straws people will grasp at to back up a crappy argument because they want the other guy to win. Frampton has numerous better performances over better opponents. At least Frampton was able to win away from home after underperforming. Not scrape a draw at home and present it on Sky as a tactical masterclass.

It showed that perfectly well actually but seeing as he's fighting a matchroom boxer I doubt we'll get any sense out of you.

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
I fancy Frampton points but seeing as it's a matchroom card, a points win for the 'away' fighter might be difficult.
A stitching up on the cards would add extra to a rematch too. After the back and forth between the teams this week I'd say it's a possibility.

I'm surprised more people aren't betting on a Draw..
Think about it...Not many big paydays for 122 pounders...
A draw if it's close could be a great bet......and back to Ireland.

I have never once compared Quigg to Enzo in boxing terms. I said the backgrounds to these fights are very similar. If you could read properly without trying to find fault with everything, maybe you would have noticed that.
Its no wonder this forum struggles for decent articles and new posters when someone tries and gets nothing but abuse from the resident troll. I won't bother in future.

Re: Weekends Action - Predictions
I'm at utter deadlock with this fight now.
Up until yesterday I had Carl outpoiting him. Being smart and boxing clever. Maybe even a late stoppage.
At the weigh in Carl like extremely pumped, even in Ho post interview he was so rushed on adrenaline whilst Quigg looked like he had just smoked a splif.
I'd usually say Carl
But tonight I'm going against my own mind and predicting that Quigg will blast him out in 8-10.
I hope I'm wrong as I think Carl is head and shoulders above...but something just isn't sitting right.
Quigg will catch him when behind on the cards and that will be that.

Frampton (UD or mid-late TKO)
Cruz (stoppage)
Crawford (late stoppage)
Afolabi (more heart than head, just want him to get something out of their attritional wars)

On my treble as a win had a separate £10 single bet on Huck by KO. Who was on your treble? I have Crawford Santa Cruz and Huck. I'm hoping I wake up richer in the morning

Good news actually. I had £80 quid placed on my treble with a return of £271 pounds and some pennies. I had a Huck win and Leo Santa Cruz and Crawford to both win by KO/TKO.

If you watched it you would have seen that I had Huck to win at 8/15 I had Crawford VIA KO at 4/9 and Santa Cruz by KO at 1/2 added up yes they do as I've just made £190 check my Twitter @BetOnBoxing911
