Weekend Ahead - Predictions March 5th
Some awesome fights ahead this week.
Lucas Big Daddy Browne stepping up against Ruslan Chagaev in Russia, be interesting to see how he fares properly at world level.
Sam Eggington and Bradley Skeete gunning it over the British and Commonwealth title, Skeete most probably the best technician that Eggington has faced yet.
Sadam Ali Vs Jessie Vargas, tricky one this, Ali hasn't proven himself at world level yet, but looks it, whereas Vargas has won a world title and pushed Bradley hard last time out.
Robinson Castellanos up against Oscar Escandon, don't judge Castellanos on his record. He's far superior to what it reads, Castellanos had a bad start to his career, but has become a bit Salido-like recently (Actually lost to him early in his career) beat the faded fighter Rocky Juarez, KOed Ronny Rios the Golden Boy undefeated prospect, going for him right from the off (Seriously go watch that fight) he's taken 3 or 4 undefeated records off of decent fighters on the road, plus he's pure offense, so this should be a good one.
Then Luis Ortiz up against Tony Thompson, Thompson is 44 now, was beaten by Malik Scott recently and Ortiz looked good in his last fight where he KOed Jennings.
So, some good fights plus I think the Yafai brothers are fighting also, and they're usually decent to watch on the Sky bill.
Who wins? Why? Thoughts?

I can see the Chagaev-Browne fight being a farce. Neither has faced a decent fighter (well, recently anyway in Chagaev's case) but Chagaev is miles ahead of Browne talent-wise. A one-sided beatdown for Browne in my books. Corner pulls him out after about 8 rounds.
As for Ortiz, I see him walking through old Tony in about 3 rounds.

Got a weird feeling Browne catches him, seriously...!
The Ortiz card is HBO in America, but I'm not sure if anyone is picking it up over here, not seen it advertised for BoxNation which is where it would most likely be on.

Can't help but think Browne gets a huge upset win against an old, fat, unmotivated Chagaev

Re: Weekend Ahead - Predictions March 5th
Browne is about the same age and fat. What Browne has in motivation he lacks in experience. Browne seems a nice guy but I'd tip Chagaev, only just though.
Has anyone noticed that whilst all the top guys around at heavy would be classed as hard hitters in any era they also look like they can be caught and 'exposed' by underdogs? With Wilder, Fury, Haye, Joshua, even Wlad, there must be a feeling amongst those just under the top level that they could catch any one of the above with a half decent shot and win the a title. I'm not talking a hail mary either.

I also feel big daddy is gonna pull off the win tonight. Not sure why but feel it in my gut. That being said I was almost convinced that Quigg was going to knock out Frampton and look how that turned out!

Good to see I'm not the only one thinking Browne is incredibly live in this fight!

Re: Weekend Ahead - Predictions March 5th
It wouldn't shock me if Browne won at all but so far he's not shown a great deal to suggest he's a level above Chagaev. Last fight I watched he was made to work for a win that should have been straight forward and seemed a bit podgy to me. Not seen recent pics but maybe he's come on in the last year or so.

Are these two Yafai fellas related? They look similar? Great performances.
Just switched to Browne. Very strange arena and also alarming to see Browne has fought once in 2015?! Jumps straight in with Chag?
On a side not the Ozzy anthem is pretty poor.
Along with this arena their fighting in

Re: Weekend Ahead - Predictions March 5th
I have to say, my expectations were low anyway, so maybe that explains why I'm quite impressed with Browne. I don't think he'll have done himself any harm with this performance.
The fights I'd seen of him before he was a crude, tough plodder. But he's moved and boxed well tonight, for a big lad.

Fair play to him though. Nice lad outside seemed to box well at times didn't look too outclassed apart from maybe after his own knockdown.....but brilliant shot and good finish.

When Chag looked like he was tiring I wondered if Browne could take him in rounds 10-12 but that was a good punch.

How long before RusADA release that Browne has failed a drug test?

RusADA will do what Putin tells them to do. Although finding people guilty of taking drugs will be a novel experience for them...

Not when it comes to foreign fighters coming to Russia and beating the home fighter.

Close scrap this although I had Skeet leading 3-2 a through 5. Good jab and movement has some cute inside work when coming off the ropes as well.

Yes, Skeete looks like he's starting to enjoy it. Eggington is lacking discipline. Shame, the Eggington story is a good one and I like him. But, Skeete looks to be getting in top.
But things can change in a punch!

Got it 4-2 to Skeete. I thought Eggington had a plan to slow him down for the later rounds with those body shots but seems to have no clue now.

Re: Weekend Ahead - Predictions March 5th
Yes, Eggington looks to crude and Skeete is still very much in control.
To be fair to Eggington he is still learning. He needs to learn to cut down the ring. His footwork isn't positioning Skeete at all. He should be trying to Shepherd Skeete into corners to offload.

Probably wrong I will admit but I think this is close, lovely boxing at times from Skeete but I prefer Egginton's more powerful shots, close fight imo.

Skeete is moving clockwise, as an orthodox counter puncher trends to do. Eggington should have capitalised.
Disturbingly, Bellew has just said Eggington has said what I did about ring generalship. I'm doubting if I was right now

Skeete, but closer than most for me, at times with his hands down he reminded me of Bomber Graham, nowhere near as good, but still impressive.

All credit to Eggington, he's still young and relatively inexperienced. Hopefully he'll learn from this and come back better.

Ha-ha, I'll probably have it off soon :P
Lot of shocks last night, I predicted Browne to win and Vargas to win, but Vargas winning by KO was a turn up for the books.McGregor and Holly Holm both defeated in UFC.
And guys CHECK OUT Antoine Douglas' fight last night. Probably FOTY.
