Miami
Federer is now entering Miami. I am surprised; do not really see the purpose of returning to action for one HC tournament. The season will be long enough as it is.

Re: Miami
Nothing on Fed's official website and story seems based purely on a tweet Fed sent out. So praps we'll have to wait for official confirmation. IW seemed a little early for him to come back but may be he's feeling fine enough not to wait for MC. He's been in the States so it's not a question of his having to travel/acclimatise.

Actually he's traveling from Dubai. He was in USA, then went to Dubai to train past week. The pictures of him practicing around palm trees is actually in Dubai so it is a long trip. Miami tournament has confirmed he's playing as well.
Frankly doesn't make sense to me. I think it just shows how much he loves to compete. He hasn't liked playing in the Miami court conditions for years and Can't realistically think he can win the tournament. Seems like a waste of energy and interruption of some valuable practice and/or recovery time.
Insiders are saying on his website that he simply wants some match toughness and is craving being back in competition, so maybe that's basically all this is. He'll be glad to get a match or two in.

Re: Miami
Glad to have Federer back on tour, nice
I think the decision to play Miami could make sense if you think of it in a certain way; Federer was planning to play Indian Wells but couldn't make it, so can play Miami as a substitute.
As for the clay season, I guess he'll play 1-2 Masters max, and then move onto the French Open.

Maybe he likes Miami itself? Maybe the kids love the hotel room there? Who knows what's involved in the decision.

Re: Miami
...or maybe he saw the Sharapova thingy, heard her talk about how she "could have pretended she was injured", heard French ex-ministers babbling on the topic, and decided: "uh oh, I had better show up somewhere sooner rather than later".
