50% Newport v 67% Swansea Match Thread
Friday, 1st April, fittingly. Teams:
Half an Half Newport and Gwent -
A poorly coached rabble with a smattering of quality
Two Thirds Swansea -
A poorly coached rabble with a slightly larger smattering and a massive pile of semi-sentient poo masquerading as a rugby player called Scott Baldwin
If this fixture had had a cup, it'd be plastic.

As long as we beat 4800 attendance, as that seems to be nirvana for the valleys.

You're very kind to give us 67%.The O's coaching staff have a secret plan to confuse the Dragons.Apparently, Eli Walker and Dan Evans will be our props, and James King will be our hooker as part of the plan to make him the world's first universal forward. We will play one lock forward only-probably Sam Davies- and a four man backrow. Our backs will rotate positions after every set play.At half time ST and LJ will arm wrestle to see who wins the least worst coach award and GR and KJ will build sandcastles under the watchful eye of Phil Steele.
Apologies for the hint of sarcasm, but without Zebre and Treviso we would be bottom of the league. Why would anyone want us in a European Super League if it ever comes about?

Even Blues can beat that with Italian opposition. #deludedvalleycommandos

Do the 3 ex Dragons players make it 67% rather than 70% ?

Surely it is 50% backed by the union (NG Dragons) against 60% backed by the union (NDC Ospreys)

Hey that's two of us that can't make it then. That's two more people not attending the Ospreys .

Re: 50% Newport v 67% Swansea Match Thread
Newport Gwent Dragons team to face Ospreys
Carl Meyer, Ashton Hewitt, Tyler Morgan, Adam Warren, Hallam Amos, Dorian Jones, Sarel Pretorius; Phil Price, Elliot Dee, Brok Harris, Rynard Landman, Matthew Screech, Lewis Evans, Nic Cudd, Taulupe Faletau (c).
Replacements: Thomas Rhys Thomas, Boris Stankovich, Lloyd Fairbrother, Nick Crosswell, Ed Jackson, Charlie Davies, Geraint Rhys Jones, Adam Hughes.
If Angus O'Brien isn't injured - and the press release doesn't mention him - then why on God's green earth isn't he on the bench?!

The point is he's one of our (now) two outside halves, and they've picked Rhys Jones on the bench instead. I don't know what they're playing at.

Re: 50% Newport v 67% Swansea Match Thread
It's harming his Wales chances that he's not our first-choice hooker, which he should be as he's clearly better than Rhys Thomas. Dee's better than Baldwin, but Baldwin's first choice at the Liberty.

As is Owens but that doesn't stop Baldwin getting into the Welsh XV
Hopefully it'll be a good game though I'll miss it as I'm moving house.

Re: 50% Newport v 67% Swansea Match Thread
The Argus is saying Angus O'Brien suffered a head injury against Edinburgh, which rings a bell. It makes the decision to release Tovey early look a bit stupid though (or even more stupid, depending on your viewpoint).

It is a bit daft - they say they're looking at Arwel Robson, then when the need arises, they stick a utility player / full back on the bench instead.

Can't say I am overly looking forward to this. Kingsley is though
"a good side with quality right throughout their team but we feel this is the time we are going to get the win."

Short term pain, for long term gain is it? Or in our case, maybe the other way round

Nice try. Thought it was harsh penalising us on the scrum though. Seemed Arhip had his arm on the floor. Also, seemed like Underhill was hardly supporting his own weight just before Dorian's knock on.

Penalised this time. Not much difference really, for what he did first up. Consistent Mr Lacey mind

Niiiiiiiice.
Was a little worried we'd blow that, by crabbing. Well done Meyer and Morgan. Amos scoring for fun again.

Re: 50% Newport v 67% Swansea Match Thread
Was going to just post before that try, I would have liked to have seen Amos have a crack at Evans when he kicked through first one (where Ospreys touched down). Evans isn't that clever in defence and it was a bit of a kick to nothing.
Still, did well with the second one.
I know TGFHTEFTGVSDW is on the touchline for both kicks, but it is his right side. Is it windy there? I guess not if Meyer got his pen.

Maybe Underhill wasn't entirely legal when he got to Cudd there, but we have to set that up better. Underhill shouldn't get near him.

and to think they was a chance that Ospreys 2 flankers could have both played for England.
Oh well will settle for just Underhill.

Drags could've pinched that in the final 10.
One pass away from a certain try and had the Os on the rack for a bit. There we are.
