The Dew Drop Inn
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Question for the Welsh posters - what did you learn about your team for the RWC today?
That the following are international class:
Burns, Faletau, Turnbull, Knoyle, Williams, Brew.
Glas, in the spirit of healthy debate, Burns, Turnbull, Williams and Brew, really?

In a purely amateur fashion of course. Sometimes, I'll do it if there is no pregnancy. Gets me in all sorts of bodder.
Feck em, if they cant take a joke.

Question for the Welsh posters - what did you learn about your team for the RWC today?
That it is a tragedy that Iestyn Thomas is consistently overlooked for Wales.
That Bennett, Nugget, Phillips and Byrne should be put out to grass.
That our coaches don't suit us
That all natural instinct of ball play and attacking flair are knocked out of them on the training paddock.
That you can't expect to put your tallest and shortest second rowers together and expect a good scrum.
That regional rugby is preparing guys well for international rugby.
That the following are international class:
Burns, Faletau, Turnbull, Knoyle, Williams, Brew.

Maybe not just on today's evidence, but yes. They could hold their own in an international team.

Let all of Ireland pray Noves never leaves his beloved Toulouse for the French team, or we'll be waiting a very long time before we beat them again.

Gibbo - I have to disagree. While not the ball running Toulouse we know they can be, they outpayed Montpellier in that 2nd half and drew the penalties.
They played a power game and it worked for them.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Which 15 for the drop from the training squad? H Bennett (Ospreys) S Andrews (Cardiff Blues) J Yapp (Cardiff Blues) L Reed (Scarlets) R McCusker (Scarlets), A Powell (Sale Sharks), J Thomas (Ospreys) M Williams (Cardiff Blues) R Rees (Cardiff Blues) M Phillips (Ospreys) J Tovey (Dragons) A Bishop (Ospreys) A Brew (Dragons) Scott Williams (Scarlets) L Byrne (Clermont Auvergne)
Tovey and Brew will be very unlucky not to go, but after Brew's yellow today and his targeting by the BaBaas tactical kicks I can see him losing out and probably on balance rightly so. I'm not convinced he will take Peel and drop Phillips even after another awful performance by him today. Byrne, Jones, and the two elder Williams' are leading charmed lives. I can see Stoddart edging out Byrne, Jones edging out Tovey, Shane edging out Brew, but I can't see Nugget edging out Turnbull. He may of course take Reed even though Ryan is now mainly a second row and drop Tipuric.

Isn't it a song for the whole of Ireland? If you get prissy about who 'owns' songs then tearing yourselves apart over Irish team selection will continue ad infinitum.
Bore da anyway. Mrs G not well. Her parents have built a wedding chapel so that they can hold services in addition to the receptions they have been doing in the Barn. Yesterday was the first wedding there. They have all been running around for months preparing, and she missed it. Gutted for her.

Morning all
Grey and overcast here in Berkshire so far today. Was scorchio yesterday, so am actually hoping for a little rain to keep the grass in the garden nice.
Such a shame for Montpellier last night, would have been wonderful to have seen them win it, but they can be very proud of the season they had. As per the discussion I had with Chef on another thread, discipline cost them ultimately as you cannot concede that many penalties and hope to get away with it.
So that's it for NH club rugby for this season then, I shall just have to content myself with the closing stages of the Super Rugby season and then the NZ and SA domestic comeptitions.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Not too bad a day yesterday. A few gripes I had were;
1, They should have had Richard Parks on the pitch to make a fuss over him. I know the camera showed him in his box and I think they did an announcement.
2, The stadium was flat. Seemed to be a few stag doos in and they were sat by me. I don't think there were many genuine rugby supporters there.
3, How Huw Bennett stayed on for so long is beyond me.
4, Don't know why the choir did different nationalities anthems and songs in their medley. Should have just kept to the Welsh stuff.
I saw you write about how Phillips should have cost us a penalty try Munster and that was precisely my thoughts.
In other news, I've just learned how to keep the capital letters on while typing on my iPhone. Wish I'd discovered that earlier.

Afternoon tafarn. I think I've just about recovered from a looong day of watching rugby yesterday. Time to sort out some scoff I think.
If anyone is interested, the IRB are live streaming the JWRT final between Japan and Samoa on their website. 18:00 ko local time in Georgia (15:00 here?).

My mother is cooking me a home grown Longhorn steak as we speak. The smell of prime Welsh sirloin, garlic and onions frying is almost intoxicating.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Afternoon all, I'm having a very lazy day so far - have managed breakfast, a load of washing, and catching up on posts on here (plus a wee spot of moderation while hungover earlier). Safely parked on my couch in my dressing gown now ...
Tough day in the sun yesterday, I was in a team with no shooters!* (well, one technically but she was having a very off day). Our defence was pretty good (even if I'm patting myself on the back), we lost 2 matches 2-1! You'd expect to see 12-18 goals scored in a 15 minute match normally. At least we managed to win the wooden spoon match. By that stage everyone in the team had played at least half a match as a shooter, and we were all rubbish
*yesterday's tourney was a scratch tournament - you entered and they drew teams out of a hat. I'd played against one of my team mates before, was meeting the rest for the 1st time.
Just a quick note on links to streaming sites too guys - would you mind not posting them in comments here, or at least editing your posts and deleting them quickly after. Dropping them in a PM or chat box is better though - just in case the copyright police are about.
Anyways, my flatmate is out of the shower so time I got moving for the day. Back later :run2:

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Afternoon all,
Not long got back to the flat after staying at my cousins again. Had a much quieter night last night but it was still lovely, have had a brilliant weekend to be fair
Am really happy that Delve has been picked in the training squad, surprised by it but pleased.
Not sure what positives we can take from the performance yesterday, when you know that even though Bennett and Phillips had bad games, they'll just be picked again. We've got individually some great talent on show, but our tactics and game management are so poor I can't see them achieving their best.
I think it was Lucky that said in here that he couldn't recall one move with us running onto the ball at speed- I completely agree with him. None of the moves we have planned are going to work if we take the ball standing still, tis just stupid.
I am feeling a very frustrated Welsh fan today.

Hi everyone, I'm gonna back up Micky T. Hangover 2 is just as good if not better than 1st one
I've just watched the Lion King which has put me in a great mood!!
I've also seen that Munster are doing a series of events to raise money for their coach who got that horrible disease. My mates and I were digusted to learn we missed the charity table quiz at Thomond Park on Thursday. But there is a music evening taking place in 2 weeks. Felix Jones and Barry Murphy have entered a band. There's talk of Paul O'Connell and Flannery getting involved too.

I can understand your frustration, Dreamer. We commented on how often the Welsh players were standing still when they received the ball. At one stage in the chatroom I suggested that it was the Welsh team which looked like the scratch team. Admittedly the Baa-Baas passed the ball to where they assumed another good player would be, working on the principle that their teammates were all good players and instinctively someone would be in the right piosition to receive a pass / offload. But given that the Welsh team had been in camp for ten days, I saw nothing which suggested that. Even allowing for the fact that they were bringing some new caps in, I would have thought we might have seen some new set piece moves attempted, even if they didn't come off.
As you say - I would be very disappointed if I were a Welsh fan.
Also very surprised to see Delve in the training squad. When does the Super 15 finish for him to join up with it?
