The Dew Drop Inn
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

2 bottles? blimey Nottins you must have a bad head this morning!
was looking back over some comment from last night and noticed Stag that you would pick a back line of
11. Brew
15. North
14. Halfpenny
I would say to that, swap Halfpenny and North around and that would be a pretty good backline.

can i ask - is anyone using sky broadband on here at the mo?
Its gone down in glasgow and i wanted to gauge how widespread it is. Sky call centre has a automated message which makes me think its a very big problem.
Sorry for cr@p typing - on the mobi!

Kia ora, mauri ora all (Mornin', good health!), and Ka hākoakoa matariki (happy Maori New Year).
It's tipping it down in London this morning. But the girl I've been maternity cover for for the last 9 months is back in today, more hands on deck is good
Hobo, my Sky broadband was a bit slow this morning, but working - though that was 90 minutes ago.

Not too bad dreamer, I feel more tired than hungover. At least I was in bed, not lying on some carpet....

Yesterday was a really good day for me. I've been feeling very tired recently and I don't mean just physically but yesterday I got the first real sign that was fading away. It hasn't gone straight away but it's better now and I'm feeling a bit more awake.

Staggy - did you see it when it was on old 606? It's Lucky (and anyone else's) random thoughts thread really. Just say what you like.
Munsty - well you are a student and you've done your fair share of galavanting about recently - I'm not surprised you're knackered.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Either or Dreamer. I had originally backed Halfpenny to be the fullback especially with his monster boot but Norths size and running style might suit better. Any way I think those 3 are the answer. Hook at 10, Henson at 12, Davies at 13.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
I don't think North has the kicking game to be honest to play fullback, I would like to see Halfpenny get more game time there though.
For our back line of the future I would like to see 9. Knoyle/Webb/Evans, 10. Tovey/Priestland/Biggar, centres. Davies/Roberts/Williams/Hook, Back three. Brew/North/Stoddart/Halpfenny/?

Sheesh, just had a look at the NZ papers. Stuff.co.nz's lead stories include one about Christchurch (3 big aftershocks today ), then there's this one

ah Kiwi I don't think that would have even appeared in an article in a Welsh paper!
Not good about the aftershocks though, can't believe they're still getting them

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
No.
Stag. Scrum half? Not Phillips, please don't say Phillips!
For me you can go:
Halfpenny, North, Davies, Henson, Stoddart, Hook, Peel
Or
Byrne, North, Roberts, Henson, Brew, Jones, Phillips
Anything else is just a messy compromise.

Have I Got News For You. It was undoubtedly 45 minutes of the greatest television of all time when they got Boris Johnston to host it.
Was out of Friday night celebrating the end of exams so iplayer will be the first stop this morning!

Risca Rev wrote:Aled Brew still hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip. He got next to no ball yesterday again, the poor lad. George North was given a lot more. He does have rough edges, but we are talking about alleged international standard coaches here who should be able to bring the best out of him.
Stag, I'll think you will find I'm the best thing about the Dragons
Rev, am desperately trying to get over my weegie bias, but I just don't quite think Brew has got it at the highest level (at least, yet) - he's a decent enough finisher, no question, but doesn't go looking for work enough for a player of his physical stature (say like an Ashton); defensively he's sound, but his technique in the tackle does occasionally let him down (without being able to point to specific examples, I feel like I've seen too many high tackles and too many legs lifted in the tackle, both of which find him straying into yellow card territory). Perhaps as you say it is just rough edges and hopefully a decent coach will sort those out
Pete, sorry to hear the news about your dad over the weekend

Sorry Munsty, the no was on response to the Ibiza question. My post got stuck because I didn't notice the somebody else has posted message and I didn't read it before sending.
Yes. Naturally athletic people with decent handling skills tend to be backrow shaped. There are more of them than the rest of us.

Munsty - currently, you're probably right. But it's not so long ago that the back row cupboard was bare in Wales, for example, and we were scratching around for players to cap. Jonathan Thomas was making hay.

Another excellent one was the episode straight after the allegations of Angus Deayton's affair. Hislop and Merton just sat there and took the urine out of him bringing it up at every opportunity, culminating in the point where Paul reveals his t shirt with the newspaper front page printed on it. Good times.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
I thought is was a weekly thing - as the weekend had gone, I was going to just post the new one on Friday when Pete does it.
I can restick it if you like - I just thought it had served its purpose for this week.

I think the plan was he was going to add to it each week instead of doing a new one every week Hobo.

That's fair enough, and if a Mod keeps an eye on it that'll help.
I have to be honest, I'm not sure I like the boards without sub sections, but I'll give it a go.
