The Dew Drop Inn
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Scarlets v Toulouse maybe? One for the fans of cavalier rugby. That match from a few years back when Scarlets won it at the death was a true classic.
That's still one of my favourite ever matches. I do love playing the French sides usually, like the home game against Perpignan (sp?), just amazing rugby to be seen most of the time.

Oh and Pete, surely the greatest comeback in HC history would be where the team claw back a 22 point deficit to win by 11, rather than come back from a 21 point deficit to win by 7

Stag, I'd ask people to share their guilty secrets and ask the rugby deity(ies) for forgiveness. Two problems - arguments about deity(ies) and people getting upset and arguing substantively about the rights and wrongs.
e.g. say somebody, a Welsh fan, said, erm I don't know...that he was glad the Phillips try stood because Munster get away with so much nonsense (completely hypothetical) it would upset Munster fans and Irish fans, there would be an arguments about winning at all costs etc. you know the buzz.

Yea wouldn't work on mass. Maybe limit it to be pub. BTW thats the worst kept secret I've ever heard.
Maybe my response to such a Welsh fan would be to suggest they are bitter that the Irish priovinces have got to where 10 years ago, they thought the likes of Llanelli were going to reach
All hypothetical like

Oh right. My mental arithmetic is deplorable. I forgot that the margin is the DIFFERENCE in scores, not just a number I picked out of my head!

I went the the HEC final in 2005, the highlight of the day was actually being able to buy alcohol in the stadium at Murrayfield as what was happening on the pitch was awful.

My nephew told me yesterday he had a row at school for using the 'c' word. I said "it's not clever is it?" and he said "no, it's Kumquat"

Hey, I said I was rudey poo at arithmetic, not maths!
We should measure how good a comeback is by the following factors. The deficit (delta) the match completion coefficient (Mc – a number between 0 and 1 indicting when the comeback started), the eventual winning margin and the drama factor (which gives the match weight depending on what competition / stage it’s in).
The unit of measurement for comebacks is a “Mighty Duck”

nottins - ha fair enough! reckon I'd have been chuffed either way to see a HEC final regardless of the teams invloved. I just think the French teams suit the way the Scarlets play. Even when we're getting a pasting by them (see the away trip to Perp this year) we still see loads of running rugby and tries on show (even if it isn't my team that's doing it!)

Glas, that reminds me of something my youngest sister, who works in a primary school, told me once. A child came to her in tears and said that 'so-and-so just called me the M word!' My sister asked the boy to elaborate and he said 'so-and-so called me a Flip muppet!'

Stag, you'll have to come to Parc for a match and a couple of pints. I'll put you up. If we draw you in the HC would you consider it?

I would indeed. I really want to get to all Blues, Scarlets and Dragons. For some reason Swansea doesn't appeal to me.

Rodney Parade does. Its a ground that always comes across as a top atmosphere. Plus it might rid me of my indifference towards Dragons

Just had a major bit of news for 606v2 on Twitter - Victor Ubogu has agreed to a Q&A with us. I will post a thread up soon asking for questions, so get thinking!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Stag - it definitely does have great atmosphere, was one of the best I experienced last season, even if a few Dragons fans really didn't like being outsung by the Scarlets support!

Rev has a pop at everybody, it's his job after all. And you did tell him the Dragons were your least favourite ML side
Anyway. Are the Ulster fans the most touchy provincial fans? Or have I just pressed the wrong buttons?

Glas I have got in trouble with the Ulster fans for saying they were the most touchy. But I meant it as a compliment. I said they reminded me of how bitter Munster fans used to be 12 years ago and I think they will use this to succeed.
They didn't agree and weren't happy with me Think it proved my point
Re: The Dew Drop Inn
We are not the most touchy but our team is the most persecuted and our players given the most stick and least credit, especially by the Irish fans and media.

Rodders as I have said before to Notch, Ulster fans are the most touchy but there's a strong possibilty they have reason to be It reminds me of when Musnter used get no credit despite performing very well (or we used to feel that way anyway)

Stag to be fair you can't blame most Irish fans for not rating us or our players when they're main source of Ulster info comes from the likes of Francis, Hook and even Pope.
We're way of the level of Munster and Leinster but hey so are most teams and a lot of teams would have been very happy with how we went last season. I just think we've been given very little credit for anything we've achieved over the years in the Irish media and some of our players get a disproportionate amount of criticism compared to other Irish players.

We all have our crosses to bear. I genuinely think no matter what kind of running rugby Musnter try to play they will never lose the boring 10 man rugby stereotype.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn
Cheers kiwi
Stag and Glas... Take a hike! We do enjoy playing the victim though. I think it's down to the fact that we've become a home away from home for a number of south african players. meh what can you do...

We have a few. Being bald is another Keith Wood, John Hayes, Paul O'Connell, Peter Stringer, Paul Burke, Paul Warwick and Keith Earls have done us no favours.

Yeah, and Scarlets fans aren't touchy at all! Especially when it comes to referee decisions...
