Not much interest in Joshua - Martin
First topic message reminder :
Surprised there's no chat about this weekend's title fight.
Interesting for a number of reasons. I don't view Martin as a valid champion. Winning the belt in a bizarre fight that only happened because they stripped Fury. Didn't think he looked great against Glazkov for as long as that lasted and there's nothing in his record that stands out.
Still it should present AJ's biggest test yet. He's big enough and on paper has more experience than AJ. However I reckon AJ takes this without too many problems. I think he'll have learned a lot from the Whyte fight. AJ within 6 rounds for me. Martin to retreat into his she'll the first time he feels AJ'S power then it's only a matter of time.

It is a 10-8 round but that was pretty much all the major success he had in the fight, didn't press matters after that instead he sat back and admired any little success he had thereafter. You've got to throw punches to win rounds.

I gave him some other rounds that were close because of the quality of his shots
Sounds like I need to watch it

Don't recall the last time someone on their debut got so much hype. Amir Khan maybe.
Makes you wonder whether anyone will look back at all this premature excitement if Benn gets found out early doors and ends up being an ordinary chip off a great block ala Ronald Hearns and Chavez Jr.

I don't like George Groves. Nothing more to add than that.

George Groves would beat the hell out of Felix Sturm(WBA belt holder), if Sauerland takes Groves down that route. Never understood why Groves never fought Abraham

Whingiest fighter in Britain. Nothing is ever his fault. Talks like was it not for bad luck he'd be sugar ray Robinson. I'd so dearly love to see De Gale beat him.

Re: Not much interest in Joshua - Martin
I like Groves. I went to the Froch Kessler fight at the O2 with him on the undercard, as soon as my bum touched the seat he knocked out his opponent. Seen him throw one punch live and it was a knockout. Incredible percentage, that is! GGG eat your heart out!

It's Sunday tommorow, he'd love to have a legitimate reason not to go to church (and be stared at by a statue of christ) while his pockets are bulging with Ill gotten gains.

Boxing is healthy in Britain. It should go back to the BBC. That will even spark more interest

There's a blast from the past. Whatever happened to John bloody wayne. He was a funny b*stard
Re: Not much interest in Joshua - Martin
Well I'm not normally a betting man, but I've taken £10 on Joshua in 1. Then taken advantage of paddy power's 3x£10 bets for Joshua in 2,3 and 4.
So I recommend the smart money to be on Joshua in 5.
Or Martin on points!

Last time Joshua fought a southpaw was in the Olympics against the Italian and I think the Cuban too and he walked onto a lot of shots and got quite lucky to get the decisions. If he fights like that tonight he'll be put on his back.

At least If Martin did win he'd be able to get out of the ring in one piece....

I'd like to add that I'm not a fan of groves or degale.
I do have more to add though. I have a much stronger dislike for degale.
Ps, I hate Froch more than both of them.

I'm pleased for AJ but it's a bit of a joke that Martin was a belt holder in the first place, a candidate for worst champion ever.

Re: Not much interest in Joshua - Martin
my first bet was actually for round 2, so i chucked away my 3 free bets on rounds 1,3 and 4. Never did have the courage of my convictions. A few quid up though, so thanks to paddy power and their free bet offer, without which i wouldn't have bet anything.
