Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Not a fan of Fury, but glad he managed to get home advantage. He deserves it. Sick of Klitschko always having had things his own way.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
IS it going to be at the MEN (or whatever it's called this week) or do Fat Mick/Fury believe he has the fan base to fill Old Trafford?

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
I'm sure they'd fill Old Trafford for that.
Fancy a trip down for this one - more for the occasion than anything else.

They should have it at the Etihad. If it doesn't fill up, it is no odds. just be like a standard City home game.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Just read it's at the MEN...no way Fury can fill OT. Despite all his bluff and bluster the only way he fills OT is if he fights AJ and if he fights AJ it's going to be at Wembley. 80001 people, with Carl Froch outside desperately trying to punch people unconscious so's he can still bang on about having the biggest post-war attendance for a British fight

Their present trophy record is certainly better than other teams in the vicinity........

City are a formidable foe, no doubt. The Red half will bounce back. Just need to chuck onion head out a top floor window.

No you've had it now........I'm lobbying the Sheikh's brother in an attempt to get him to buy United and then amalgamate the clubs......100,000 a week watching one Manchester team called City......
Better in the long run to save tears in the future..besides we could use Red expertise.. Have Ferguson used as a scout and I bet Giggs knows how to wash a car..

Business as usual next season, Chelsea with no European football to bother them will make a charge for the title, City will splash few million on players again as will Utd and Arsenal will relocate up North as their reluctance to spend money makes them a shoe-in for honorary Yorkshire folk

The United name has history and meaning. City means nothing really.

I'm surprised they didn't hold it at OT, I could see it shifting tickets if marketed correctly. Just goes to show that this is for the no.1 belt in the division yet more fuss is being made about Martin AJ for the 3rd tier belt.
Also, Truss and Adam, you're funny arguing about Man Utd & City. Remind me of two of the staff at work who are always at each other throats about who's NHL team is best, despite neither having lived outside South Wales. Even bring up attendances in their arguments . S'cute.

That might work. That way you can buy United's historical success just like you are trying to buy success right now.TRUSSMAN66 wrote:No you've had it now........I'm lobbying the Sheikh's brother in an attempt to get him to buy United and then amalgamate the clubs......100,000 a week watching one Manchester team called City......

If they thought they could fill a stadium that is where it would be held, despite being champion the interest just isn't there in Fury.

I call BS! They announce it the same day as Joshua's weigh in, conveniently... Absolutely no word of confirmation by team Klitschko, not even a tweet from him about it or any of his team? I feel like this is a publicity stunt, get Fury's name in the headlines at the same time Joshua's is, I don't think this is set myself!

I used to go to Maine road....Before I had kids.......Watching them play crap like Huddersfield soon lost its appeal though..
Go again now if my eldest was interested but he doesn't like soccer .....
Can't be bothered going on my own.....
Only became a City fan listening to arrogant, patronising Utd fans at Keele..

I would not underestimate the demand for this one. A fight for the heavyweight title in this country is pretty rare. Would not surprise me at all if this ends up in a football stadium. I'll certainly be trying for tickets, irrespective of venue.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
You're spot on.....Despite the fact Fury is a great salesman and sells anyway... There are some unanswered questions..
1. Has Wlad got the bottle to take a few shots getting inside ?....Can he up his work rate ??.....If the answer is yes.. he can win..
2. Will Fury take him for granted being at home...
3. Can Fury take a shot ??...
I'll buy the rematch............60/40 for me and I'll take that...
Briggs v Haye...Wouldn't go and watch that for free at ringside..

Boxnation have won the rights for this. Very decent coup for them on the back of getting Khan.

Yup. Told you jeff. They overdid it on the footy and need to recoup money badly. That reminds me I need to get my hands on a projector for the khan fight. Auf wiedersehen pets.

Sky should spend less on these crappy gloves are off and behind the ropes stuff and more on actual boxing matches.

Tyson fury doesn't seem to be in a good state of mind nor in a good state of physical conditioning: apparently he is 24 stone and goes out drinking beer and stuffing his face. Can't tell whether it is bluff or not but I take his word he is around 24 stone.

He's nowhere near 24 stones, he does regularly post pictures of himself on Twitter, a poor attempt at mind games really.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Thanks for that info. In the first fight with Klitschko his team showed a high level of professionalism and had to hold firm in getting the ring floor changed after the Klitschko's had padded up the canvass floor. This second fight actually becomes more important than the first fight because this will demonstrate in the boxing history books that he wasn't just a lucky winner due to a champion that had taken his eye off the ball. He won't be recorded as a Buster Douglas or a Hasim Rahman but rather he will be recorded as among the top boxers - although this will also depend on what happens after this fight. I am sure he is hoping to put on a good fight in front of his Manchester fans. He was born and raised in Manchester and I am sure all of that community will be present at ringside.

I think it's all a defence mechanism, when he's in the ring I do tend to think Fury is super confident but in the build up I do think he suffers from self doubt so has to keep telling himself it doesn't matter.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Fury's unpredictability spooked Klitschko last time. It could be that Fury is trying it on again.
Then again, Fury could quite easily throw the rematch away if he has blown up since the last fight (he doesn't look 24 stone to me, saying that).
I genuinely believe him when he says he's achieved his goals. He isn't someone who's likely to stay at the top consistently (like Klitschko managed to do). He's too proud to pull a Charles Martin but he's unlikely to get himself up to the level he managed first time around.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
I think the 'achieved all goals' thing is more rooted in his own self-doubt.
I think he feels it will lesson the blow if he was to be defeated either in July, or perhaps in one of his future fights.
He's setting up the 'lack of motivation' excuse well before the fight takes place as I believe, like most of us, he realises that he's not the second coming of Ali and that despite all his 'I'm the man' talk, he knows there are a couple of guys out there that have an excellent chance of blowing him away.

I have a feeling that this is going to be either a repeat of the stinker that was the first fight or Wlad's going to actually want to prove a point, take the fight to Fury and KO him. Either way, Wlad will retire after this one.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
If wlad wins he's got wilder and Joshua for two of the biggest paydays of his career. He probably won't retire.
Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Might not be an entertaining fight, Klitschko contests rarely are. If Fury can repeat his performace from the first time, I dont think there is a great deal different Klitschko can do. He is pretty limited, tentative and not a naturally instinctive fighter. He obviously thinks he can win the rematch though, or I doubt he would have taken the fight and been willing to travel. Lets hope the rematch brings the best rather than the worst out of both fighters. Hopefully Fury might be more confident and less diciplined at home in the rematch and decides to take it to Klitschko.

Re: Fury/Klitschko II - Manchester, 9th July
Fury not doing himself any favours in the immediate build-up. He's talking like one dreary win over Wlad is his ticket into HOF, like his legacy's already complete.
I can take the nastiness between opponents but that kind of blase attitude from somebody with potentially many more fights ahead really leaves a foul taste. You see people give the sport everything and not win half so much as Fury.
Reminds me of party-boy Broner when he won a strap. So glad he's been brought down a couple of rungs since.
