Re: Cricket Quiz Question for Today
Alastair Cook needs 67 runs to become only the second batsman to score test 5000 runs in England. In honour of that please name who has score the most test runs in each of the countries to host test cricket (WI counts as a single country for this, while UAE and Pakistan are separate).

Looks about right, might swap Jayawardene for Sangakkara though.

I know Jayawardene gets wrongly labelled a 'hometown bully' by some, so went for him.

Tanim or Shakib for Bangladesh?
Not sure for NZ, don't think Kane Williamson has been around long enough, so maybe Stephen Fleming?

McCullum it is.
Now whilst researching the same thing for ODI runs, the highest ODI runscorer in England fascinated me. Who might it be?

I won't attempt them all but is Bell the Englishman?

Yup, Bell is the highest ODI run scorer in England, one of just 4 batsmen with over 2,000 runs. So how about the other 3?

Re: Cricket Quiz Question for Today
Actually thinking about it, KP would have scored most of his runs away from home (certainly all but one of his memorable innings were away off-hand), so that makes sense. Here's the full list BTW

Strauss and Tresco's records (at home) are remarkably similar, though Tresco has far more centuries than Strauss.

Strauss was a cracking ODI player for the first 2/3 years he played - its quite easy to forget that as the last few years of his career weren't great really

In Australia obviously it's Ponting, by some distance, but I'm a little surprised by who's second on the list...

Re: Cricket Quiz Question for Today
At some point recently Jimmy went past 1000 runs to join the large list of those with 1000 runs and no hundreds.
However just one player has ever scored 1000 without even a 50 to their name. Who?
Hint: His highest score of 45 was achieved in 1997.

Different game then as well. He (and more breifly Trott) scored a lot of runs at the top of the ODI order when laying a platform was still a thing even outside England.
To be fair the end of his career wasnt actuall bad ..it was the middle years (around 2007) that he was terrible.
In the end he just had to go to prolong his test career and get Cook in, whilst enabling Trott ( who wa sa run machine at the time) to be retained after the world cup. nOt sure how well that one really worked out but hey ho.
A player like him (or Trott who avergaed over 50 in ODIs) wouldnt get a look in now even at the top of their game. Hales gets critisized if he scores at less than 6 an over.
