Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
not sure Southampton have a better squad than everton, just that everton massively under performed under martinez. stick a team down on paper of the combined teams and id definitely have more everton players (mane (who may be leaving), tadic, forster and bertrand off the top of my head would be the only saints players)
its just a sideways movement, but perhaps koeman sees more potential in the everton team

The problem with Koeman moving to Everton is that his first battle will be to keep his best players. Stones and Lukaku are both likely to be off unless he can pull some magic out of the fire. Barkley may also be the subject of a large bid. Even if they generate massive fees (and that's on top of the £100m he's reputed to have at his disposal), he still has a significant rebuild to undertake, with a squad that would suddenly look worryingly short of quality.
It's true that Everton are a historically big club, they have some potentially great young players and may have a budget. Regardless, I can't help but feel it's a really odd move for Koeman.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
same can easily be said about southampton though, mane is always being linked away from the club as will any good players there, while others probably not good enough to warrant a big move.
not sure lukaku will be going anywhere, every time ive seen him he's been awful. cant even control the ball. chips in with a few goals here and there but cant see him being a great success at any top club (like chelsea for instance). barkley too has had a poor season and cant see clubs lumping the amount of cash it would take for him to leave

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
He's only just turned 23 and scored 131 goals in his career.
For Everton he has 61 in 127. Nearly one every two games.
Last season he scored 25 goals while being mostly rubbish in a poorly performing team.
I agree he quite often looks like he can't even control the ball but you can't really argue with his scoring stats. In a team set up to play properly for him, he would be a goal machine.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
i know the general feeling is he's a good player, but ive seen him play live over the last few seasons and never been impressed. he's a player who gets goals purely down to physicality. which isnt a bad thing, but to be a top player you need more than just physicality. not much difference to a benteke for me, and you see how he's done playing for Liverpool.
disagree that everton isnt built around him, the strike force is exactly built round him. the problem will arise when it isnt like at a top club and he has to fit into their system

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I don't think the team has been set up for him enough. Most games I've watched last season when he was bad he looked very isolated.
Martinez insisted on playing Lennon and Cleverley off him on the wings and he just didn't get enough service.
When Mirallas and Deulofeu were playing Lukaku thrived especially from Deulofeu, lost count how many he assisted for Lukaku.

Sebastian Rode has completed a move from Bayern to Dortmund, presume someone bought a return ticket by mistake for Hummels.

Daniel Agger has retired it seems.
A real shame, injuries totally ruined him. He was fantastic when he could stay fit.

Hope she enjoys her £5million as I daresay there'll be precious few organisations willing to take the risk employing her now. To me, she (or to be specific, her Legal Team) have milked the whole "He swore at me personally" angle knowing that the breakdown in relations was irreparable and sought to line their pockets as a result. Yes, I'm sure Jose can be an obnoxious, abrasive, downright unpleasant c*nt and yes I'm sure he did shout "daughter of a wh*re" but I firmly believe at that particular moment he shouted it due to the situation the team were in at that stage of the game as opposed to her specifically.Nico the gman wrote:Looks like Chelsea have been owned by Dr CarneiroFernando wrote:Im gunna say Dr Carneiro has won
Still, they've taken a £5mil hit, Jose's got a new job so why should he give a f*ck?

At the end of the day thats what lawyers are hired to do...its how they make their money. As for Chelsea, I'm sure Abramovich has lost more money down the back of his sofa. I don't think he will even notice that £5million is gone.

Those comments might have been in reference to a certain situation with a certain Chelsea defender making such comments quite apt and accurate.

It's party time.
If you don't believe you can't get Olivier Giroud out the side i don't want you at my club apart from the fact he doesn't suit at all.

Schneiderlin is better than the anonymous Clasie
Mane is miles better than Redmond
Clyne is better than Soares
Shaw is better than Bertrand
Not always the case. I just think the bubble will burst sooner, rather than later. Koeman leaving is a huge blow & the replacements being linked, don't look anywhere near his level.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Probably, but in Bertrand's case they got a pretty good young LB for much cheaper than their excellent LB they sold for a premium. They'll more than take that

And they finished higher up the table? You can think this guy is better than this guy on a one-to-one basis, but the team isnt dying so they must not be hurting too much...just yet.

Mkhitaryan looked impressive on his debut today, full of directness and pace, despite those that thought he was slow. Also good to see Shaw looking confident and still with a burst of speed despite the injury he got.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Plans designed to reduce "intolerable behaviour" by players and managers in English football have been announced.
In a statement, the Premier League, English Football League and Football Association said poor conduct has reached "unacceptable levels"
Offences which could earn players a yellow card
Visibly disrespectful behaviour to any match official;
An aggressive response to decisions;
Confronting an official face to face;
Running towards an official to contest a decision;
Offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards match officials;
Physical contact with any match official in a non-aggressive manner;
A yellow card for at least one player when two or more from a team surround a match official.
New red card offences
If a player confronts match officials and uses offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards them;
Physical contact with match official

Good move by the FA, but I have severe doubts about whether or not it will actually be enforced, much like the 'Respect' campaign.

But then we'd get to hear all the foul language from the players...at least to begin with.
Also looking forward to video replays being introduced.
Just as a personal thing I'd also prefer it if they stopped the clock for incidents, like they do in rugby, instead of adding on time.

Some of the worst cheating has gone on/goes on in rugby. Blood capsules anyone?
A lot gets over looked because they are polite to the referee.
Football refs already had the tools at their disposal to manage poor behaviour and didn't, not we get a lot of new rules and a lot of attention placed on the situation - superb effort from all involved this.

David Moyes favourite for Sunderland. Given how picky he's been, I doubt Sunderland will appeal.

There might be isolated incidents in Rugby but the TMO and citing commissioner will between them see and punish the majority of major incidents.

That could see a lot of players booked and sent off. The referee will probably need help to identity the dozen or so players rushing towards him after a wrong decision by the referee (awarding a penalty for a clear dive, not awarding a penalty when it was a clear foul or handball, sending the wrong player off, ruling a goal offside when it wasn't, awarding a goal when it was offside ...). How many wrong decisions does a referee make per game on average? Probably two to six.Fernando wrote: Offences which could earn players a yellow card
