They'll learn pretty quickly not to rush the ref then Nore.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
'Could' receive a yellow. Says it all.
Players don't learn though or abide by rules or threats. We still see diving. How many decisions are argued or whereby players show frustration at a poor decision. No chance of this threat of a yellow card going to be implemented. Just the FA trying to show some authority, but hardly any of it will be followed through with.
Basically, abusive language or physical contact with a ref will be the only ones really enforced.

It feels like they announce the exact same thing every couple of years, and then after a couple of months things settle back to where they were.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Manchester United has released their squad numbers for 2016/17. Quite a few changes.
Eric Bailly #3
Zlatan Ibrahimović #9
Anthony Martial #11
Jesse Lingard #14
Adnan Januzaj #15
Marcus Rashford #19
Henrikh Mkhitaryan #22
Timothy Fosu-Mensah #24
Probably the biggest story is Zlatan taking the #9 from Martial, but Martial's taking over the iconic #11.
#2 and #6 vacant for a right back and Paul Pogba...

Maurico Pochettino is going to be approached by Argentina over the job position.
Interesting one really, I can't see him leaving Spurs, but often the call of a national side can be a hard one to turn down. Particularly with a World Cup around the corner and the opportunity to manage Messi (should he persuade him to come out of retirement.)
Diego Simeone and Jorge Sampaoli are the others being approached, the latter has only just been signed by Sevilla so it seems unlikely but the former I could see happening. Depends if he feels how much further he can take Atletico.

Don't think an international role is hard to turn down these days. Big boys are all in club management now.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Hull are a mess, half their squad is injured and they haven't made a signing, although their main target is Hal Robson-Kanu. Steve Bruce isn't a world class manager, but I'd certainly be more confident in them staying up with him in charge than without.
I wonder what will happen with Bruce, he does seem to have found his ceiling with clubs the size of Hull, but he hasn't ever really been given the opportunity with anything better. He seems slightly too good for the Championship, but not good enough for the Premier League. Wonder if he'll end up just being the go-to guy for clubs looking for promotion.
Expect if he's gone, he'll probably be appointing to the first club that panics and sacks their manager.

Don't get Sunderland being keen on a reunion. Hrs just not cut out for the PL beyond a decent start to his reigns.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I think David Moyes would be a much better appointment than Steve Bruce as well. I'm assuming people are just putting 2 and 2 together, but not necessarily getting 4. I can't see them going back to Steve Bruce.
Or are we getting an Allardyce-Bruce super team for the England job?

Apparently he walked because Hulls owners aren't willing to release funds for new signings while it's up for sale.
Senior players are similarly peed. Derbys record points tally may be under threat at this rate.

Suspect it'll be a Roy Keane type name at Hull, can't see people with options wanting to take it on with the mess it's in

Considering how often you spend following me around waiting to pounce on something like that, that is remarkably thin skinned.

decent appointment, sunderland been trending water for a while now. need some investment and bit of stability now. which moyes should bring, squad will need strengthening though. you only have to look at villa to see lack of investment can do to a team

Not sure Sunderland have had a lack of investment, more bad investment.
Good place for Moyes I think, Fellaini would make an awful lot of sense.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
fellaini was one of our more effective players towards end of last season and was playing pretty well. never going to be pretty to watch but is good at his job. it was no surprise west ham turned us over via set pieces when he wasn't playing. actually changed my opinion on him now and still think hes a good squad player for us who gives us a different option. certainly better than schweinsteiger as strange as it sounds

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Fellaini was one of the better PL players going at Everton. LVG trusted him more than any other. Never quite fit at United, but a better player when used properly than his new reputation suggests.

Martial is not happy at all that he's moved from the number 9 shirt to 11.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I believe the problem is that he wasn't told, rather than necessarily the number change. He has started building a brand on AM9 so I can imagine it's annoying that his number was taken off of him, but more so that he found out at the same time as everybody else.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Oh I understand from Utd's point of view, seems to be the case though that Utd didn't inform him and he's as a result changed his Facebook page to show the number 9 shirt whilst also unfollowing Utd on Twitter. Utd need to appease him quick smart.

Stripping an established player of their shirt number is fairly odd.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Indeed especially for a guy who wears no.10 for his country.
He had no.9 at Barca & Ajax but most recently been 10/11 so odd decision.
If you had just trademarked something and the club ain't told you can see why you'd be p*ssed off tbh.

Aaron Creswell is out for four months. Wonder if that will put them in the market for another left back - maybe teenage English star Brad Smith might be on West Ham's radar?

I take it as a compliment that one mistake is so fondly remembered
But yes, we have no cover so i'd guess we will be. Buying Robbie Brady then forcing him there might be an idea

Haven't Norwich slapped a £20m asking price on Brady? I would imagine Bilic will go for a 'stop-gap' option, possibly Ivan Strinic of Napoli?
