Cameron to handle PMQs on Wednesday then resign to the Queen afterwards.
Suspect he won't get a Blair ovation somehow.

Hopefully he jump across the dispatch box and punch Corbyn over. And over. And over again.

I can only assume he thinks he can cash in on all the unhappy remain voters, but considering how little impact they made in a campaign that seemed tailor made to help them back to relevance, it does seem a bit of a risk. Other than hoping half of Labour defects, the only thing the Lib Dems have going for them is that the SNP doesn't stand candidates outside Scotland.GSC wrote:Quite why Farron is keen to lose his last 8 MPs is a bigger mystery. Were it not for the Brexit fallout, pretty sure May would call a GE now and destroy Labour as you said Duty. But I guess were it not for Brexit, Dave would still be PM.

Ah here we go. The old sub-plot Plan 37-8.C.
The 'compromise' candidate - who emerges because he/she feels duty bound to try to unify the different factions of the party? "If you don't want Corbyn and if you don't want Eagle - please, please pick me so that I can help salve the wounds and make this party great again."
Maybe the new young Corbyites will indeed fall for this new/very old trick. Maybe though they've become more savvy and will smell a seasoned rat: "This is a stunt to kill off our One True Master!!!!!"

An old friend of mine emigrated to Finland a few years ago. He signed off an email to me last night like this -
''If my understanding of the Finnish TV news is correct, Theresa May is taking over from Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce is tipped to be the next Prime Minister. Sounds like fun times for all...''

Just as I thought.
Mr. Woolfe is actually best-priced at evens, with several bookmakers making him the odds-on favourite. This was somewhat helped out by Mr. Nuttall ruling himself out today (a great relief).
He announced his leadership bid today.
Should be a one-horse race, like Labour - Woolfe is now best price 1/3, with some bookmakers going as far as 1/6.

So much for all the World Leaders on the night of the Turkish coup attempt mouthing their support for 'democracy'.
15,000 education people suspended now. 1,500 university deans ordered to resign.
The 'Coup' it seems has actually succeeded after all. I wait to hear what the response will be from the Great World Leaders from the Lands of the Free.

Yep, Erdogan is turning the coup to his own advantage, and there's not much the West will do to stop him. There has been a warning shot of removing Turkey from Nato, but I doubt very much that will happen. Erdogan will continue his abuse of human rights, as he has been, and the West will continue to mumble their disapproval. Turkey is strategically important to the West and, while Turkey serves their security interests, little will be done to stop Erdigan's power grab, if anything.

If Corbyn wins then I'd fully expect Labour to break apart and a new party formed (weird, could've sworn this has happened before when a far left wing lunatic is in 'charge'). MPs will be out of a job soon if labour sticks together.
I really really can't stand the far left. Bunch of idealistic idiots.

In fairness it's pretty obvious the middle ground of politics is where you get power..
I've always thought you don't win power..The governing party loses it..
Just being a credible alternative is fine...
I like Corbyn he'd make a great Uncle....I think he's a nice guy and I wish him well..
However he is naive..his politics appeal to a disenchanted minority and he doesn't look the part in a digital age...
You don't change things if you don't win..
The membership needs to grow up and the next leader needs to acknowledge the left wing of the party exists..

Sorry Truss, that's still a "Let's become more conservative to get elected" excuse.
Not very noble at all as the Conservatives already exist. It's blunt political opportunism from Labour MPs, as most of these MPs want power and influence both in and (most important of all) after their political careers. Best not alienate the potential sources of potential juicy directorships of juicy out and out Capitalist companies.
Blunt and personal ambition is what places most Parliamentarians on the side of Socialism-Lite.

Still not sure what is entirely wrong with that idea. And anyways anyone who follows an ideology while ignoring reality should really be avoided.
My personal view is that the best route to decent government is a real threat of being voted out of office if your performance isn't good enough. A far left Labour party does not present that risk to this conservative government.

I mean Corbyn sticking to his principles is nice and all but it'll never win him a GE, and thus he'll never get a chance to implement them. Get the feeling Jezza would happily lead a small protest party rather than one that aspires to Govern.

Its a bit heavy duty and its written by a guy who would rather the Labour party become more left wing but under decent leadership. What is great is the description of how activists are not in it for power as much as to put those in power under pressure to support their cause.

The other issue you have is that his beliefs (which I'd use instead of policies) is that they aren't fiscally viable. Simply assuming the "rich" will pay their way is fanciful.
A half decent way of looking at it would be to look at Monaco, 2nd largest GDP per capita in the world and obviously has fairly low income tax rates. The wealthy have flocked there, but what if they were to suddenly hike these rates up - would they remain there? A decent amount would naturally leave and thus denting GDP and the amount of tax raised by the state.
Hard left socialism is very, very reliant on being able to produce significantly higher returns from tax. The problem is that people will simply find a way not to pay it, be that moving somewhere else or finding loopholes. And at some point you have to raise global taxes (VAT as an example) which hits the poorest the hardest.
I could go in to an essay on this, but I'll simply point to the example of China (Moaism) - By morphing to a capitalist model (late 70s) they are about to overtake the USA in terms of GDP in the next year or two, some 500,000,000 Chinese have been taken out of poverty in this time. There is no example of a capitalist country reverting to hardcore socialism and it being a success story regarding the respective KPIs mentioned.

May has picked up Cameron's habit of not answering the damned question though.
Would point out Pr4wn that she, like DC, has a fairly easy way to deflect the answer by turning around to have a dig at their leader/front bench who to be fair isn't fit for purpose.
I thought May was brilliant, brutally brilliant. Almost made me feel sorry for Jez, as a person I quite like him. Almost feeling sorry for him now.
"Will you build more houses" sort of question just ends up with "yes we're pledging blah blah". It's been the case for yonks that they will give open ended answers or just skirt the question being asked. May, DC, Blair, Major and co are no different barring how "clever" they are at winning the battle without having a policy exposed or similar.
Now, if Labour make me slightly mad at present the SNP are just taking the biscuit. "Would you press the button to launch a nuclear weapon?".... oh jesus christ. We should just nuke them, nuke them all. I mean if they lose another independance vote then surely the SNP have no reason to exist? Robertson, Sturgeon and co can all then take their one agenda and trot off a cliff lemmings-style.
