Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
He's sad that for a while as far as I know, but being second choice and Spurs having to throw a lot money to get a second choice means that one could be iffy. Especially as Marseille need to sort it soon with their money situation.
But as he seems to not even be second choice for us now he'll probably be one we miss out on and then be sad about when we finally realise Lacazette ain't coming.

If I were West Ham I'd go after Remy instead, likely to move on now and a similar style forward who is proven in the Premier League.

Well, that's your opinion. Apart from the fact, he's 30, he's still a quality finisher, banged 25 goals last year & won the Turkish title. Germany already look far superior with his presence up front. None of the top quality strikers want to join WHU, so you have to be realistic & compromise. Given Bilic's links to Turkey, this seems like it's a possibility

Aside from the last time he played in a league with high standards, he's great.
Germany looking better is more down to Gotze being cack and them playing NI and Slovakia

Bilic clearly rates him, as do I. He must of looked awful banging 75 goals in 100 appearances for Bayern Munich or banging 26 goals in 33 appearances for Besiktas last season.

Bilic clearly rates him as his 17th preferred option.

It also doesn't seem to fit with the type of forwards they had been looking at who were more athletic types. Gomez is very much, let the team do all the work and I'll wait in the box to put it in the net.

I don't think Gomez would be the marquee signing but he's definitely good enough for us. I want pace and poise, but Gomez at least offers a goalscorer.
Remy worries me. He's basically been a reserve for two years. I'd rather Berahino, who is the new Defoe in my eyes

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Exactly, Gomez is a top quality goalscorer
Loic Remy is a player, I'd expect to be moving to China. Best days behind him & you have to question his mentality of sitting at Chelsea for two years & even rejecting the chance of going on loan to Leicester, last January.
If we get an offer of £15m or so, I'd expect to see Saido leave. Southampton are the latest side to be linked to him

He's had a poor year, but he's definitely more towards that athletic type of forward than Gomez. Albeit a different kind of athleticism, rather than pace, it's strength.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
I'd guess possibles are:
Bacca, Lacazette (main one), Zaza, Gomez, Icardi, Benteke, Ben Yadder. Possibly two of depending on departures. Berahino likely to be considered too.

Icardi I'd be amazed at, highly thought of and Inter are looking to spend big with new investment, can only see him moving on if they're looking at even bigger fish.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
I'm not too fussed about the fee's, Ritchie & Gayle should be quality in the Championship, we needed strong, British signings & removing the foreign deadwood. We're going to recoup £13m from Townsend & I'll expect at least another £35m from the departures of Wijnaldum, Sissoko & Janmaat.

They probably prepare for a lot of possibilities so that they can be quick to put them up, similar to websites having obituaries for celebrities before they die.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Still think that Nolito signing is a bit of an odd one. Good price and good player, but considering Manchester City's main problem right now is an ageing squad, seems weird to sign a 29 year old winger. An indication that Pep isn't planning on sticking around?

Everton have signed Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham as well. Decent signing that if he's as back up, played with Koeman at Southampton. Supposedly still in the market for a first choice keeper as well. Wouldn't be too surprised to see Joe Hart end up at Everton, maybe not this summer, but next.

Wasn't so long ago I was saying that I'd have Hart at Liverpool if we were looking to replace Mignolet, but after his performance in the Euros I think Joe's going to have to work hard to avoid being a benchwarmer.

I think he won't be replaced this year, but he'll be gone by next. Not good enough with the ball at his feet I feel for Guardiola.
I imagine Karius will take Mignolet's position this year. I would still have Hart over Mignolet, but don't think he's somebody we'll be in for with Karius in.

I would expect the Ter Stegen to City rumours to resurface. As for Nolito, it's a bit of a so-so signing in my opinion.

10/11 is on, you dont need to say on. 11/10 on means 10/11 (just so you know).
Tomkins is joining Palace for £12m. They are also seriously in for Benteke. Doing good business over there. Although as good as Townsend is, they dont need to buy all the pacy English wingers.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Mostly with transfer bets it's all about what money has moved the market, they don't do it the same as big money markets where they set a price at the start and they're looking to draw money in and then react to it with price changes

Zaha can't pass, shoot or provide any end product. It's a significant upgrade, if you see what Townsend produced for Newcastle in just a couple of months.

Townsend/Zaha - not really any if any difference between the two. Both unplayable on their day, both go missing for large chunks of time
