Just saw that on Sky. Dismissed it as nonsense, because it's been rejected?

No, as in genuinely laughed at by chairman, the old itk crowd etc. Sounds like we enquired quite a while ago about Wilson.

Have to admire German sides casually announcing offers to their players in a club trip to a mountain
Offer made for Xhaka, agreement pending
The Foals then took the cable car to the very top of Mount Pilatus. Some fans and numerous media representatives accompanied the team. The journalists were particularly interested in Granit Xhaka. Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that an offer had been made for the Swiss midfielder. However, they were yet to come to an agreement with the interested club

Reece Oxford rejects contract & can leave West Ham for £10m. No chance anyone bidding that

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
They should, the boy is talented, but hes already denied it and so have the club.
Club have confirmed, however, that we've had a £31m bid for Lacazette rejected

Apparently Granit Xhaka is in london for a medical according to few journalists. 25m with fee rising to 30m with add ons.

Quickly win a title, rebuilds the reputation & then he gets out, seeing as it's only a rolling 12 month deal.

Does winning anything at Celtic actually enhance your reputation at all?
Neil Lennon even beat Barca that one time, won everything domestic and took Bolton down in his next job.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Not every one in the game has the same opinion on people's achievements, all he has to do is win trophies & that will enhance his reputation. Yes, it won't impress me or you, but it's these clueless, foreign owners who don't really know much about European football & will just see he's won a title & will be impressed. I mean, Dr Chinese at Villa is hiring Di Matteo? Hardly a great appointment, he's probably just googled his CV & seen the lucky Chelsea stint & got a hard on.
As for Ronny Deila, he's plain awful. I doubt even a Championship club would take him on

Di Matteo has a promotion from the Championship on his record, Neil Warnock still gets jobs based on that.

Err its Dr Tony Xia to you baggies fans
RDM may not happen, Pearson even Dyche have again been mentioned.
If it is RDM, then only time will tell on how he will do.
Would like to think the doc has done some homwork on these homies.

Doesn't really surprise me.
Its probably his last and only chance to get a major money deal. Harsh truth is as great a story as Leicester are, its incredibly unlikely they'll come close to matching it again.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Indeed. If he can secure millions he should. If Leicester want him they should pay it. He's got a release clause of £25m I have seen so he could go.
Whether I actually want West Ham to bid or not I don't know, but the feeling is that Vardy may have been the player Sullivan spoke about on TV

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Financially, I see his view point in possibly leaving. He's arrived late in the game & needs to selfishly bag & secure his future. In terms of an ideal club, he would ideally need to go to a side, who's game is focused on counter-attacking football, like Leicester. Similar to Torres, if he goes to a side who dominate possession & the opposition sit back, I see him being exposed. I honestly don't see a top 4 club coming in for him, so CL football would disappear for him.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
What do Leicester pay him?
I mean 60k a week on a 5 year deal will net him 15 million.
5 years as a pl player will set anyone up for life, don't buy he needs to secure his financial future.

Cut that in half after tax.
Also why should he leave money on the table, nobody on this forum would in his situation.

He was on 80k a week previously which was the joint top paid player at Leicester with Schlupp of all people.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Yes he'll have to pay tax but he'll have other revenue streams too.
No one is saying he shouldn't take what he can get but he's financially secure so doesn't need to go running to the highest bidder if he doesn't want to.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
I personally don't see a top club coming in for him, he's a one season wonder & 29 as it stands. He's in the CL & got a massive contract in the bag already. He doesn't dislodge Aguero or Kane at the other CL clubs & he's not heading to Arsenal. Heading abroad.....no chance. It's silly season, basically.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Nice capture. Nobody has ever taken the plunge with Gaitan, probably to do with his poor goal return, but he's got serious talent, if a little inconsistent. Guess at 28, he wanted to finally seal a move & a big contract to see him into this thirties & I'm sure linking up with Simeone, will only improve him

He scored 4 this season fair enough but he has 16 assists, not exactly bad.

Didn't they say that about Harry Kane?LiamB wrote:I personally don't see a top club coming in for him, he's a one season wonder & 29 as it stands. Anyway, I'm not sure Vardy goes anywhere in Summer. I think he'll want to see how things go with Leicester in the League and CL. If by January things are looking grim he might well jump ship to another club.

Would be more than happy with this...probably only got 12-18 months in him, but would be a good 12-18 months!
I notice since the iminant arrival of Jose, United have been linked with a multitude of players, so its hard to really take any of them seriously...when its one of the likes of Pogba, Muller, Marquinos, Varane, Gaitan, Matic, Ronaldo, Pele, Barry Chuckle, Terry Tibbs , Ian Beale, Harvey Price....
I will believe them all when i see it.

Just did the BBC next Man U team, more of a realistic line-up, than the extravagant name always associated with Man U, that you've mentioned

Utd apparently in talks with Roma over signing CB Manolas according to Di Marzio, just over 30m fee though apparently its preferred by the selling club that Utd take him initially on loan so to avoid the 50% sell on fee that's due to expire soon for his previous club Olympiacos.

Seen that di marzio name mentioned a lot on this site to no avail so assume he talks crap.
Not keen on ibra really, would have been alright under lvg for 1 year but out new manager (mourinho cough cough) had to have a several year plan and a 35 year old for 1 year ain't that.

As with all journalists he gets some things wrong but he does tend to vet his sources better than others and has a better hit rate.

I can't see Ibrahimovic surviving long in the premiership. I think it will be too physically demanding for him at his age. Don't think he will last a trip to Stoke for example.

Ibrahimovich will just go the same way as Falcao, he's been playing in the relative comfort of France for the past four years.

He's one of the most physically imposing forwards in modern football, he can safely defend himself, that's for sure. Not sure if you've been keeping up with current events, but Stoke are no longer a side that rely upon brute physical tactics anymore. I'm sure Bojan, Shaqiri & Whelan are going to scare Zlatan . Technically gifted no.10's from Spain can cope in the PL
