What do you expect Tottenham to do? They can't compete in the market for the same kind of players as Manchester City, United or even Chelsea and Arsenal. Their first team is pretty good and young, so expect they'll get better.
The next best thing is to ensure that their "second XI" is as close in ability to their first eleven as possible.

Not sure why Barca have signed Lucas Digne. Pretty average defender, couldn't displace Maxwell at PSG or Evra at national level. Now he'll sit behind Alba. Strange.

You need a squad. Bit weird to think you don't. You could argue Tottenham's limited squad options are the reason they didnt win the title. Those players didnt get the chance to be freshened up, and lacked a bit of quality when there were changes.

Wouldn't surprise me if Barca try one of them on the opposite flank.

He's been signed as back up. Why would they want to replace Alba anyway. He can't defend anymore after four years in Barca but that's not a defender's primary job with their system.

Inter Milan have signed Ever Banega. Rumours that Joao Mario will also join the club for around £29m.

Good signing is an understatement. He's signed a five year contract & at €36m, that's probably going to be the signing of the summer. Inevitable he would leave, as soon as Leicester signed Nampalys Mendy.

He certainly looks like everything Chelsea's midfield lacked last year. Is Conte gonna play two deeper players in the middle? Or is Matic to be worried?

I think Matic will be sold to be honest, probably their biggest underperforming player last year.
Courtois
Ivanovic Cahill Terry Aspi
Fabregas - Kante
Willian - Oscar - Hazard
Costa
Unless he plans Kante-Matic with Fabregas further forward. There will probably be more signings as well.

We're certainly not hanging around at the Boro, with de Roon, Fischer and Victor Valdes in the bag, reports suggest that over the next few days we will tie up deals for:
Neven Subotic (£8.3million)
Alvaro Negredo (Loan with £10million fee if we choose to buy)
Barragan - RB for Valencia
Gaston Ramirez on a free transfer
Definitely putting a squad together

Fabregas certainly won't be playing as one of the two in a 4-2-3-1 IMO. Chelsea were overrun last year trying to do that. Rumours are Conte is likely to start off with a 4-4-2 though, probably rubbish like everything else this time of the year.

Much like Aleksandar Mitrovic, who banged loads of goal & was physically suited, much depends upon how they settle & the service. I doubt Janssen will be playing week in, week out, so will not get the rhythm he's used too & Spurs are not a side that cross the ball too much, similar to Newcastle, who had no wingers & didn't play to the strengths of Mitrovic.
Did Mitrovic play in Holland?

Gotze back to BVB for 19 million pounds. Smart move for his career, he totally stagnated at Bayern.

No, he played in Belgium. 'Much like' was referring to being of a similar mould, physically, to that of Janssen. Obviously nit-picking.

To be honest, it was the correct move for him. He's picked up a haul of medals, including - Bundesliga: 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16, DFB-Pokal: 2013–14, 2015–16, UEFA Super Cup: 2013 & a FIFA Club World Cup: 2013. He also scored the winning goal in the World Cup final. Let's compare that to Marco Reus' medal haul over the last three seasons, shall we? I know who's career, I would rather of had, so far.

Depends what you look for, he's won a load of titles, but pretty much only played a bit part role and none bar one he really helped towards. He has probably gotten worse at an important time of his career. Bayern fans didn't like him, think of him as fat and lazy.
He goes back to BVB rich with medals but there's no doubt the fans will feel like a traitor has returned, plus when not injured Reus is a much better and more dynamic player.

Doubt Liverpool need another AM. Anything around £25m & I'd be happy to see him leave. Only turns up for home games, goes AWOL away from home.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
A bit disappointed in him as a target, feel we would have been better off developing Ibe.
Is he going to get ahead of a three of Coutinho-Firmino-Mane? No. I'd put Lallana ahead of him and I wouldn't be massively surprised to see Origi get games there, as well as the fact that Markovic is still around and Ojo is waiting for his opportunity.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
To be honest, in the first four/five months, he was named alongside Payet, as being one of the signings of the summer. No doubt about his quality & consistent goal-threat, that he would have over Coutinho, Lallana & Firmino.
Having said that, you have to question his work-rate at Newcastle in away games & his fighting characteristics, when things don't go his way. Not sure he's a good fit for a Klopp side.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
I wouldn't say he's got more of a goal threat than Firmino or Coutinho. In the league Wijnaldum scored 11 goals in 38 games, with four of those coming against Norwich. Firmino scored 10 in 31 and Coutinho got 8 in 26. Both Liverpool players got better goal to game ratios.

He was playing for Newcastle though
I wouldn't say he's better than either of the two you've named, but he's a good player and doubt he would be out of place in any of the top 6's squads

My main problem with the signing is that it's only adding to a place that the squad is already strong, would rather focus was put on a new left back and a new central midfielder than another attacking midfielder.

Atletico seem uninterested in Bacca, in big for Costa.
Gives us more chance of Bacca. I want Ben Yedder and Saido, but I honestly have no idea what will happen. Calleri on loan too

If Atletico sign Costa, i'm unsure what we are going to do for a striker.
Basthuayi is great and Remy is good cover but i imagine we will want a big striker who is willing to hold the ball up and Costa is that.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Is intriguing. I thought he would play two up top, but maybe he is worried about that in England. Which would suggest he'll stick with 4-2-3-1 (or 3-2).
Still, two strikers is not quite enough for a squad.
