Mata was criminally wasted on the flank, his strengths are his vision, ability to link up play to either side and creativity. In the middle he can move the ball about to either side, he had options. On the flank though he's not got the pace to beat a defender so has to come inside every time or go backwards this slowing down play which was the main criticism of Utd this past season.
On the flank you need someone with speed and that can pick up the ball and run at the defence, giving options that mean the opposition don't quickly wise up to your one dimensional game that LVG employed with Mata on the flank.

Rio Ferdinand on why Benzema is better than Suarez

“From personal experience playing against both of those players, I found it harder to play against him [Benzema],” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“Because he was very cute, he was very efficient in all areas, off his right and left foot, his movement was cute.

“And sometimes you don’t see it glaringly, but he does cute little things that take you out of position that other players can exploit. And when he gets the ball he’s got a quick trigger.

“Suarez is equally as difficult but I just found him [Benzema] a little bit more.”

We all knew Benzema does "cute little things" like blackmailing fellow teammates. That's why he's better than Suarez.

Still feeling confident miky? Do you think you'll be able to penetrate Olly's 5atb defensive rock without Reus? Even hero couldn't get past that awesome defence.

Actually since you played with no width (Look at them compared to your full backs all tucked inside) You got stopped by this. If you had full backs getting wide (which wasn't in your tactics) They would of had more space and would of been better off Ok!

Best left back in the league, best violent thug CB in the league, best Tottenham RB in the league...but yeah. There was also three CMs in front, none of whom are exactly attacking.

Injuries have crippled me for the second game so I won't be top for long.
