No better or worse than any commission in the world Truss.
Says it all when I expect a shot to pieces and never much cop Briggs to be a massive step up.

Well that was pants. Saying that, it's on Dave, what do we expect? Would never have paid for that in a million years. Briggs in September?? Haha brilliant.
Haye is a good puncher, quick and mobile. But he is taking the urine to an extreme.
Fight Joshua/Wilder/Klitshcko hell even Parker!!

Haye's shorts were the least embarrassing thing about last night's "event". Fail to see how we need to wait til September to see him fight Briggs. They could fight next week and have done with it. Wake me up when something interesting happens

No-one cares Spencer not when we have quality like this on. It was so bad I couldn't argue when my wife said watching Britain's Got Talent would have been better. Even the faint possibility that Steffen was going to be killed by Haye does nothing to lift the gloom that's settled over me like a shroud

According to Ian Darke, Haye banned Paul Dempsey after he asked too many awkward questions last time. If it's true then it's very disappointing. Thank f*ck the Euro's start next month... what could possibly go wrong?

Can't see any conceivable way of defending this. I was willing to give Haye the benefit of the doubt when he first announced his comeback but greybeard Briggs is truly a shameful, pathetic choice of opponent. Briggs and his constant 'Let's go champ!' short-term memory loss may be annoying in itself but to see someone actually give the clown the time of day is sad beyond belief.

Apparently Haye bagged a million quid for that circus. And could earn three times that for facing Briggs.

A million quid for fighting a bum. That's frankly ridiculous. It was embarrassing. Watched it online.
I mean how does boxing promoters find these guys with 0 losses in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden its a legitimate fight. I'm not joking you could have trained up some rugby gym monkey like James Haskell and in 6 months assuming no boxing ability or training whatsoever and he would have done better.
There were probably 50 guys in the UK alone who would have done better with zero notice.
The guy Haye fought had moobs. Either he is simply an out of shape bum or he was on steroids for years and got off them a while back with disasterous results. Same with Briggs' opponent.... its why Boxing loses credibility time and time again against things like UFC.
The guy Haye fought went the distance with a guy who Joshua KO'd in 2 in 2014 when he was still a pup. I.e. Joshua would probably have nailed him in a similar fight and now, probably within 30 seconds. How is that helpful to Haye's comeback? There was no boxing reason for it. Only monetary. Sort of questions Haye's intentions.

I thought he looked a bit slower. I was wrong, AJ would wipe the floor with him. I also think Fury or Wlad has no problems either.
His best bet is Deontay. But a 6'7 guy with a dig, is always very dangerous, no matter the skill level.

I can't see how anyone could see anything from that fight. Like comparing apples with BMWs.

He just looked a bit off, when going for the finish. Maybe it's ring rust or whatever, but there was something missing. A bit of speed or something.
Of course you're right, we need to see a bigger test. Perhaps Haye knows, he isn't what he used to be, so he has bulked up for power and hoping to get an easy path to a title.

His "intentions" - IMO - are to keep fighting, making money, and keeping a high profile, without losing or get injured. Until he eventually lands the Joshua fight. I don't think he'd bother fighting any other contenders (Ortiz, Stiverne, Parker, etc) because they're not lucrative enough for the risk involved.

He wasn't on his A game, probably didn't even have to get out of 1st gear and sparring with nobodies for the last few weeks would have been a tougher challenge and he knew it. Could be as much of a reason.
Reminds me of fighters returning to the ring to pay off various tax bills. Fighting for the wrong reasons and likely to end badly. Can easily see him getting floored... although not by Fury (I don't think he has the power), think AJ would knock him into next century.

A bit of a risk when you'd think anyone who wants to return to the top after a while out actually needs to get genuine warm up fights before hitting the big fights.. not fights similar to the British Empire 19th century days when they introduced the machine gun to spear wielding natives.

Re: Haye day 2
What risk? Stiverne's done little or nothing since losing to Wilder and parker, what the F*CK are people raving about. A guy as open to shots as that gets his head taken off even by this version Haye. Don't know enough about Ortiz to comment but I gather he's been calling out Haye recently. Probably just means that like 98% of men with a pulse he feels he could have done better that Arnold on Saturday.smashingstormcrow wrote:fa0019 wrote:Sort of questions Haye's intentions.catchweight wrote:Apparently Haye bagged a million quid for that circus. Don't get me wrong, the only positive thing that came out of Saturday's "fight" was the £50k the raised for Nick Blackwell. Outside of that, damn near everyone involved should be f*cking ashamed of themselves. been a huge supporter of Haye even through some very dodgy periods in his career, but even I have to admit it was embarrassing. The way he jumped for joy when being announced as the winner and the frankly pathetic justification for the Briggs fight but the icing on the cake (or should I say the dog turd on the dung pile) was the ridiculous "Let's go, Chump" chant he tried to get going.
Nah, he should have paid this guy off and thrown his name into the hat once the Povetkin/Wilder fight fell through.

Re: Haye day 2
Quick question...given reports are that Briggs ballooned to 400lbs a few years ago and considering the "shape" he's in and has been for a couple of years, would he pass a drugs test? Does, as Floyd says, "hard work and dedication" get you from a 400lb fatty Mcfatso to a muscular 17 and half stone or should the authorities be having a long hard look at the cannon?

Re: Haye day 2
Disagree totally, he looks nowhere near as chiseled/cut/stripped/ripped/whatever you bodybuilding nerds call it as he did a couple of years ago. Also find it amazing that the press try to make something of it. Break it down to basics and it's "man gets older and heavier" Hopkins lives the life but no-one questions how a man at 50 years old is still in such great condition because he says he eats lots of veg and gets a good night's sleep.AdamT wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Quick question...given reports are that Briggs ballooned to 400lbs a few years ago and considering the "shape" he's in and has been for a couple of years, would he pass a drugs test? I hope Fury and Joshua ignore Haye as long as is humanely possible, wait until Haye has beaten someone like Wilder.
Can't begrudge Haye for making easy money, who wouldn't if they could, but like most on here, don't want to see Haye get a big fight off it. Want to see him earn it.. Didn't see Saturday, had better things to do. Won't be watching Briggs either. Getting really tiresome now the Haye career.
