That was the one we so much wanted. Trapped like a Jack in the Box! Goochie should understand.

Superb Guildford! I'll wager some thought I was being sarcastic when I mentioned the follow on at 46-0

Just returned from two weeks away in places where the internet doesn't shine. Horrendous performances by Surrey in recent weeks - the matches against Glam and Lancs being abject. But what a perfomance today by Batty - and Meaker. I had pretty much given up hope of Meaker ever again representing a bowling threat for Surrey.
If we've not enforced the follow on, could this be to give Ansari time to recover from his thumb?

I suppose so jimbob, 7 1/2 sessions left, so no time pressure on the batsmen. Just hope the wicket doesn't flatten out too much now!

Re: SURREY VS SOMERSET SPECSAVERS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Welcome back, Corporal.
At risk of jinxing, I was just about to post saying I hoped you had left the keys to the officers' mess with Chichester. This is the closest we've been this season to having the chance of celebrating a CC win!
I'm normally all for enforcing the follow on but am ok with the decision to bat again. Conditions will [edit] probably be at their trickiest 4th dig and, as the Corporal says, Zaf should hopefully be fine then. Also, weather wise, it's a good batting day in Taunton and there's plenty of time left in the game. Tough to pick fault with the skipper after that performance - let him do what he wants!

Leach - the slow left armer - coming on for the fifth over. I wonder whether the pitch inspector will be making a call!
Leach first innings: 19 overs 4 wickets for 36
Batty first innings: 9 overs 7 wickets for 32

Whole heartedly agree with the decision to bat again - 11 wickets for the spinners already, gotta think the pitch will only assist them more as the game goes on, so want to avoid batting 4th (even if we'd only be chasing 100 odd)

Corporal - just to say it was 190 odd for 4 shortly before tea yesterday when we seemed reasonably set batting wise.

Re: SURREY VS SOMERSET SPECSAVERS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Even if we're bowled out for around 100, Somerset will need to score the highest amount in the 4th innings of the game

Harinath gone already - although his score of 13 was more than most of the Somerset batsmen managed....

Another wicket to the spinner!
What is going on out there today? Have they transported a pitch from Mumbai to Taunton??

Corporal - you might want to hold off using those keys.

Could do with someone getting a quick 20/30 here (Batty is usually good for something like that)

Guildford - if we lose this, we'll definitely need Simon of Surrey (Jnr) to pour some fairly rapid pints!

Re: SURREY VS SOMERSET SPECSAVERS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Foakes so far has scored 4 from 42 balls. It's not at all clear what are the right tactics for batting on this pitch....
But, looking on bright side, this partnership has finally crept into double figures.

Was thinking exactly the same and about Batty. Potential problem is that Somerset have a few (Trego, the Overtons) who can give it a quick biff - hopefully, we'll be too much ahead for it to change the game but I'm not resting easy atm.
