Amir Khan keen to get the headguard strapped on again.....for Pakistan
First topic message reminder :
http://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12040/10301275/amir-khan-keen-to-represent-pakistan-at-olympic-games-in-rio
And he wonders why Brits don't like him so much....
As a more important aside, AIBA's decision to allow pros to fight amateurs appears to be a widely regarded disgrace. Sickening almost. Anyone disagree?

Anyway i'm happy for people to disagree...All about opinions....
You are not a Khan critic at all.
That would be similar to me saying I'm his biggest fan.

Any way to stop the quasi-retarded Yank posting on my thread with predictable, illogical and irrelevant 'arguments' (since I'm not allowed to address him directly)??

I strongly dislike him. Least I admit it.
I didn't start the thread, but I will contribute.
Even though I detest him, if he does something good, I will praise him (like man up and fight Brook).

I'll do him a deal. I'll lay of the kid (f**k I hate that phrase) if he stops licking his balls.
Fair deal Truss??

It was more the way you contradicted yourself by saying you'd lay off then immediately waded in with your size (insert shoe size here) and proceeded to give him a kickingAdamT wrote:DAVE667 wrote:It's your neutrality that we admire above all else

Doesn't it mean behaving like a tart after doing so on a previous occasion (but I'd get Danny Dyer to clarify what behaving like a tart means so there's no further argument)TRUSSMAN66 wrote:After you tell me what retarted means...

Anyway I for one hope Khan wins a gold medal.......Pros shouldn't be allowed to compete...But if they are...they are..
Then again I don't think Tennis, Basketball and other sports where a gold medal isn't the pinnacle should be allowed in it..
Olympics is a farce these days......
Thanks for the debate......

Khan winning Olympic gold keeps him in the limelight after his last lights out performance and now his refusal to fight Brook.
Khan could enter the ring to simple minds Don't you forget about me.
Can't wait for this gob s**te to retire, a legend in his own lunchtime if ego was talent Khan would be better than Ali, Leonard and Robinson put together, personally hope he gets stuffed in the Olympics.

No need to be sorry nico. No law that says you have to support the Brit... I cut Khan some slack because he's not the sharpest tool.. And he's brave and I like triers.
But I can't stand Carl Froch or David haye.

If you can't warm to people you can't warm to them. I've tried to like Froch... After all apparently he knocked George groves out in front of 80,000 people... but you'd never know it to hear him speak.

I'd be quiet about knocking out a guy I never thought was any good

True... Anyone should be able to knock out a 6 round fighter in the 7th... Not take a few extra rounds to cobra him

Just been reading in the Daily Mail (not good) and article by Jeff Powell (better) that the WBC have stated that any of their belt holders and the top 15 ranked fighters in each division will be banned from competing for a WBC title for two years if they compete at the Rio games

Disgraceful decision by AIBA to allow pro's to compete. What is now the point on these young lads staying around the amateur scene when they can turn pro straight away and still compete in the olympics

I am totally against allowing pros
Its only 3 rounds granted, but its also without head guards, so pretty close to the pros in that respect
Would you put a prospect in with an established world champ?

The BBBofC have released an objection to allowing pros to compete. I wonder if that factored into Khan's decision.

Must admit it would be fairly amusing to see him sparked by an amateur.
Or is this another ploy to avoid Brook..

If Khan couldn't be touched a decade ago then I doubt any amateur is going to make a dent in him now.

Khan would embarrass any of the amateur Welterweights out there, he did hold his own for 5 rounds against Alvarez at Middleweight after all. The likes of Lomachenko and Rigondeaux are incredibly rare even they took time to adjust against fringe world level pros.

It's an awful decision by the olympics. What chance would an amateur have against an established professional? And who wants to see an 18/19 year old ragged around by a pro? Damaging to the future of the sport.

Khan has apparently relented in his decision but, like the Govt, appears to have waited until there's a major news story (ALI's DEATH) and slipped it in hoping to avoid any further backlash.

Re: Amir Khan keen to get the headguard strapped on again.....for Pakistan
Which pro in their right mind is going to fight for pretty much nothing, and risk losing to amateur? Their reputation would never recover - they'd lose standing with the general populace. Also would they really get any credit for winning against amateurs? I mean, would anyone give the Number 1 Pro golfer serious praise for winning an amateur comp?
The lines between amateur and pro are becoming increasing blurred - WSB, 3 minute rounds, no head guards, judges scoring etc, however, pros in the Olympics is a step too far. If this is happening, and there is no way around it, then it should come with stipulations such as, pro no more than 2 years and no more than ten fights.
