Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players. Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1993.
Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
Player Draft
Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will participate in a player draft beginning the week of June 22nd. Both sides will be allowed to draft two players each. The draft picks will go as follows; 1. Worcester 2. Wasps 3. Wasps 4. Worcester.
Round Bidding
There will be two rounds of bidding. The first window will run the week starting June 29th and the second the week starting July 3rd. All sides will be allowed to sign one player each during the window. These bids are not protected if you do not have the funds in place to bid during the window you will lose the bid.
Open Bidding
From July 13th the foreign market will be open to all bids similar to previous seasons. Due to the world cup the window will remain open till the end of September.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result. To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.
For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. 2m for 5 games, 1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Canes hammering Jantes, he's not coping well. Shame the weather is so bad, not helping the Lions game at all.

Awful news about Lealifano.
Canes defense well organised, with 2nd man flying up to ensure 2nd receiver has no time on the ball. Few questionable hits though leading with shoulder and no immediate arms...Vito especially.

Depends on the type of leukaemia. Certainly many types are more common to see in kids, but they are more common in young adults than other kinds of cancer if that makes sense

Deserved try from Barrett, smart and composed performance. I doubt many would disagree he's the best 10 around right now. Jantjies had a bit of a mare after playing so well last week, not sure if it was the conditions, pressure or the occasion that got to him.

The Hurricanes defence is incredible. They put so much pressure on the opposite 10 its mad. Cruden and Jantjies who have been the two best 10s in the tournament after barrett have been made to look very average in the last two weeks Savea also excellent and TJ Perenara showing maturity.
I don't like the home final idea myself but understand why it's done from a ticket selling perspective. NZ ref also a little strange.

Very odd it was Jackson but he had a good game. 300mins without a try conceded, crazy.

To stop the Lions and the chiefs from getting a try is astounding. They've looked really good without loads of star names. Their Scrum creaked at times (but the Lions are strong their) but it was strong when it had to be.
Barrett needs to show it at top level before he is best in the world.

The lions th is good.
Barrett been best 10 in competition by a way followed
By jantjes. Really like jantjes which is why I mentioned to you he was free. Great with front foot ball and has improved out of sight like de Klerk and many lions.
Agree Barrett needs to prove it on world stage starting at 10
To be best about.
That said for me he has added a really good kicking game out of hand and for
Me is so much better than cruden.
He stalled on signing an AB contract as
Was fed up of
Being a bit part player so reckon he will start.
Perenara and barret have both developed as players this year and make hurricanes tick.
Ardie savea been sensational and vito has been really underrated they will miss him next year.
Also think fatilofa the lock has had a great season for them and Jane is utter quality at finishing. You can see why every AB coach loves having him in the set up when fit. Never does anything wrong.

Just watching some of the Super final from yesterday. Shields and Vito were absolute rocks in defence, complete different level to the other forwards on the park.
Barrett was so composed, really impressive showing.

Great spine of team.
Coles - best 2 in world and when injured his replacement excellent
Great backrow balance. Savea everywhere in attack and defence.
Made huge carries and hits. A legend in making and ab 7 for years.
Shields- work horse made loads of tackles and hard yards. Good player and in another country a potential int player although lacks
Pace. Makes very few mistakes
Vito- dominated line out. Carried well and great in defence.
His leadership will be missed.
Perenara- come of age.leadership role suits him. Added
A great kicking game and passing top drawer now. Best support runner in world rugby at 9
Barrett- added a tactical kicking game. Him and perenara have thrived when wet and dominated teams when previously seen as loose players. Attacking prowess superb. Great pace and understanding of a game
With that lineup then you always have a chance

I;m still working my way through the final. But Barrett is just class, pulling the strings to put the Lions on the back foot. A similar game plan to Sarries in a way, by feeding off other teams mistakes.

Re: Season 8 Homepage V
As I fly tomorrow morning and not certain about wifi access for next few weeks here's my team for next round:
:-
16. Ken Owens 17. Val Ruskin 18. Henry Thomas 19. Devin Toner 20. Matt Todd 21. Sam Harrison 22. Owen Williams 23. Brice Dulin
Feedback please on:
Back row, centre pairing, Payne's best position, NMS' best position, bench.
Attributes
Attacking
1. Offloading in the tackle: Moving the point of attack preventing a defence to set and keeping play fluid.
2. Breakdown - Turnovers: Instead of gaining the penalty at the breakdown from a poach, the player will look to get the ball and present the opportunity to attack.
Defensive
1. Blitz Defence: Your side is known for Blitz and excels at it
2. Choke Tackle: Your defence will take the opportunity to hold the ball up to gain the scrum.
01. Joe Moody | 09. Gareth Davies |
02. Codie Taylor | 10. Dan Biggar |
03. WP Nel | |
04. Yohann Maestri | 11. NMS |

06. Jackson Wray | 13. Jarrad Payne |
07. Sam Warburton (c) | 14. Waisake Naholo |

Hard to disagree with this team of the year.
Savea second highest number of turnovers.
A lot of young lads in the team

He was due to play in the RC so a major blow to NZ with their limited options at 12.

Now up to 9 months Pooly - gutted for the guy, one of the players you'd pay money to watch.
RC must start week after next, if some of the Lions players step up to international rugby then SA could have a very good squad - is Pocock in the Aussie squad, or is he already on his year out?

Shame for SBW. NZ won't miss SBW as much as they might as I think they'll be far to strong for Oz and SA during this RC. Crotty more than good enough.
Rohan Janse Van Rensburg unlucky not to be in Boks squad. Has been head and shoulders above De Allende and Serfontein form wise.
Apparently Goosen may start 15 for Boks. That would be interesting.

Crotty and Fekitoa didn't click, so you'd expect them to experiment a little. Agree that SA and Aus don't hold a huge threat at the minute so a great time to do it I guess.

I'd expect them to go the same again. Ngatai injured, Moala on poor form. Ranger not playing centre regularly. Lenient Brown looked good but behind Ngatai/Taiminavula at Chiefs who had good years. Fades had a decent season but doesn't look international quality. Could try one of the Canes youngsters but not one stood out individually to be honest

Fekitoa/Fades could be interesting as they have that understanding and Fades is very quick. Agree there's question marks if he's good enough though, he had a pretty average game in the semi which won't have helped his case.

You would expect crotty and fekitoa to gel better now they have had a few runs.
Takes time to bed a combination in for a team and 3 matches is not
Much.
Goosen played 15 for SA before and is a good runner. Been tremendous at 13 for racing metro. A great ball player. We don't produce many of these players who can play multiple positions. Southern Hemisphere do all the time

Think you are right Steve, look at Slade and Daly as examples, Jones saying that Slade is being held back by playing all over the backline and Daly took some time to convince that his best position is no13.
Clubs have made some huge signings this year, can't wait for the AP to start again.

Slade covers 10, 12, 13 when he plays for Exeter, even though he plays at 13. Saw him live a few times against Wasps and amazing the work he does, but think not playing properly at 12 is hampering his England chances, as he doesnt have the pace for an international no13, whilst he could be top class 12.

I can't see Daly getting passed JJ but has all the attributes to be a great 15. His counter attacking and boot could be a real threat.
9. Robson
10. Ford/Slade/Farrell
11. May
12. Farrell (12 still needed)
13. JJ
14. Watson
15. Daly
Bags of gas and counter attacking. I'm unsure of Ford without Farrell, I think we need some physicality at 12 to really scare teams.

How are Damian McKenzie, James O'Connor and Ihaia West rated as fly halves? Thinking of Rugby Championship time.

West is your best option, and not a bad layer to be honest. Similar to Cruden, in that his size could be got at however.

Budgets updated, few sides in negative which is probably my fault for not getting round to doing the update sooner

If it goes below -10 players are removed from the squad to find the value.

Re: Season 8 Homepage V
Citizen the local rag says Glos to sign underhill after saints dropped out due to money.
Blair Cowan to Worcester also. Citizen rumour page usually accurate as so close to both sides.
As good as underhill is he is still potential and we need front row massively so would rather we spent cash on props:
Kvesic been a star last year so buying another 7 crazy especially one that's injured for 6 months.
Rumours are trinder and sharpies to retire at end of year. Both so young.

Way too easy for the AB's, Barrett pulling the strings beautifully

Re: Season 8 Homepage V
Aussies don't seem to have any game plan, with the ABs front row and midfield you'd think there would be a chance to take the game to them - though Smith and Barrett are just brilliant, so good to watch. Aussies just seem to try and rely on Hooper and Pocock, they've got to start thinking of moving Foloa to no13 and get him more involved in the game.
