Oh well...better he's fit for OG/USO where he has better chances.

Too bad for Rafa and his fans.. Guess Fed and Rafa fans have something in common lately.
A smart move. Like Fed at the French this year, Rafa would be a long shot to win Wimbledon- better to get 100% and be able to have a good rest of year.

Sensible decision. He would have probably slipped on the grass, and fallen on his erm wrist.
Still unclear whether this wrist problem is the medium end of the wedge that will draw a close on the career of the King of Clay.

I would have been more surprised if he had said he was fit for Wimbledon. Wrist injuries do not clear up in a few weeks. He is best to take time out and come back strong for the last third of the year.

Del Potro was urging him to wait... and miss the grass season. Very much a wise decision but it is so disappointing not least for him of course.. but to quote the words of the song

Wrist injuries can't be rushed and often mean missing majors because of them.

Re: Rafa will not be playing Wimbledon
I don't think anyone is surprised really. A wrist injury that was bad enough it forced him to pull out of his best Slam was unlikely to heal properly in a few weeks. Given he hasn't done well on grass for a while now, it seems a sensible decision.
Obviously, still very sad news, and I do feel sorry for his fans.
Tsonga has pulled out of Queens too, so much be a bit of a doubt for Wimbledon too...

Oof - poor guy. The way he plays the game an injury to that left wrist is potentially extremely serious. There's absolutely no option but to make sure that it's mended before he starts again.
He's the comeback kid, but I'd be amazed if he can claw back any sort of decent form this year, especially since the part of the season he has the best chance of being properly fit for is, relatively speaking, his worst surface.

Re: Rafa will not be playing Wimbledon
Not a surprise. I had a feeling that if fit he might have done quite well this year, perhaps R4 or QF or SF.
I think this is the first year when he has pulled out of two slams with injury.
Far less of a big miss for the tournament as a whole than his pulling out of the French Open, but still a big miss.
I hope he gets one more good run before he retires.
If we do see him again in the second week of Wimbledon, it could be quite emotional.

Yeah, also not surprised. Not likely to return to Wimbledon just a few weeks after he had to skip RG.

At least I hope he can go to the Olympics where he will be Spain's flag bearer, he missed the last one when he pulled out because of injury.
How he manages to keep pulling himself up again I do not know.
Will he come back again ?? well it wont be for the lack of trying I'm sure
