Good man, JimBob! Thanks also for flagging that Sky are covering the game.
I'm confident Davies will play and so agree with you about Kapil, Burke, Meaker and Pillans missing out.

Just about to type about how well Rayner does against Surrey and he gets Davies with his 3rd ball!
Both openers back in the hutch now. 58/2 off 6.3.

Burns stupidly run out without facing.
60/3 off 7. A great start from Roy but Middlesex have come back strongly.

Sanga gone at the start of the 12th. Beaten in the flight by that man Rayner and stumped.
94/4 now off 12. Middlesex in the ascendancy.

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX NATWEST T20 BLAST
Rayner gets Bravo in his 4th over and finishes with 3/23. Probably match winning figures.
Poor batting by Surrey. Very sloppy dismissals. Davies certainly not alone in giving his wicket away but doing absolutely nothing to make me change my views. He looked uncomfortable and ill at ease, as much in himself as in his batting. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he moved on at the end of the season.
117/6 off 16 now. Middlesex's game to lose from here.

Got to agree. He's not playing well so Surrey won't fight to keep him, and he hasn't hidden the fact that he wants to be keeping regularly (could be affecting his batting?). I'd expect him to be keeping for a 2nd division side unless things change drastically in the back half of the Summer.

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX NATWEST T20 BLAST
Nightmare 17th over from McClenaghan. Cost 20 runs with 10 balls being bowled. Puts us back in with a chance.
19 runs - I think - off the penultimate over from Malan. Still think we're short but not by much.

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX NATWEST T20 BLAST
Brilliant final 4 overs from a Surrey perspective with 56 runs scored. That said, we fell away badly after Roy's dismissal. At our best, we were looking for 30 more. At our worst, Middlesex were looking to restrict us to 30 less.
I would rather be in Middlesex's position at this stage but we're far more in it now than I feared after 16 overs ....

But we didn't get them?
Many summers ago I sometimes used to bat with an old guy (he would have been about 10 years younger than I am now!!) whose idea of time wasting was to deliberately smash the ball into the rhododendron bushes!

Sam gets Malan now, good low boundary catch by Bravo. Thought he had Gubbins lbw earlier that over but not given.

Middlesex 74/5 off 11. Need exactly 100 more. Going at 9 an over off the last 9 would be a fair bit easier for them if they weren't 5 down. That should make all the difference now ....

I haven't got Sky but from the scorecard at least it looks like Ansari has had a good match. Rampaul takes out Rayner. Asking rate up to 18.8 an over....

Yep, Zaf's played well. Got his runs - and they were very much needed when we had wobbled badly - in a calm and decisive fashion. Bowled well also although his ''bowled'' of Gubbins was incredibly fortunate - off pad and then chest before dropping onto the stumps.
Generally, we bowled well and the fielding, especially the catching, was top notch as at Guildford in the week.

Serious point, JimBob. You're allowed up there ok, are you? There were complaints the other week about the OCS top being taken over by corporates.
Meanwhile, Zaf gets the Sky MotM.

Moi! A fair weather supporter?
Batty's two wickets this evening took him up to 55 T20 career wickets for Surrey - and outright third in the all time Surrey list. (He had been equal with Schofield and Doshi).
Meanwhile Ansari's two wickets took him up to 37, one ahead of Hollioake who (remarkably) took his 36 wickets in just 50 overs!

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX NATWEST T20 BLAST
Just a joke, Corporal! I know you've been through enough mud and rain over the years.
That's an incredible stat about Hollioake.
More wickets tonight for Rampaul, impressed by the guy. Some very clever slow balls. A word as well for Tom Curran - he deserved better than 0/35 off his 4. He tends to get the Power Play and other mucky overs. Given the state of games when he gets the ball, he keeps it tighter than appears.
The batting though remains a concern.

Batting is a concern - but we did just rack up 170+ without any of the batsmen "coming off" so to speak. One thing we do have is a really good depth of batting with the Currans in at 8/9. Usually means even if the batsmen fail, we can get upto a competitive total (like tonight maybe 10/20 below par)

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX NATWEST T20 BLAST
Olly - that's a fair point but if I were a Middlesex supporter I would be ranting about the 17th and 19th overs from McClenaghan and Malan respectively that cost 40 runs rather than raving about the Surrey late order. Sure, Zaf and TC batted well but they won't often be fortunate enough to get a 10 ball over (including 3 wides and (from a single ball) 6 no balls). That over from McClenaghan really landed Middlesex in the soup and forced Malan to bowl an over of rushed dross when, with hindsight, he would have been better off accepting the 6 run penalty.
