That is exceptional to be honest. 3-0 over the second best in the world who destroyed us at home last year.

Thoroughly deserved that win to seal the whitewash. Played much more open game tonight too so Australia can't even hang the "boring" tag on them.

Re: Whitewash or Backlash - Austrlia v England, 3rd Test
Apart from a brief period in the first test, England have completely dominated Australia across the series. This is some achievement. Well done England.
On current form Aus will be blackwashed. It'll be interesting to see how they do on their NH tour at the end of the season as well.

Australia need to realise you need a forward platform still even if you want to play running rugby

What a massive score. Engs defence was a bit worrying (and Eddie will not be happy) but they used the ball and did what they needed to do.

Re: Whitewash or Backlash - Austrlia v England, 3rd Test
England didn't have the big defence this week, the forwards were a bit to tired for that. Some great attacking rugby though, Ford was sublime at 10 as was Youngs at 9. Nowell looked well off the pace and Harrison wasn't ready to step up.
The white wash is a good feeling.

Clifford looks up this standard which is a good thing.
Very fair point on tired forwards meaning defence wasn't going to be the same.

Having a centre at 8 in the final phase it's no surprise it wasn't the best defence. Great stuf though. What a performance again.

Yes indeed fair on the fatigue point. Not too surprised they shipped a few tries...but fortunately scored enough it didn't matter.
Thought Ford's field kicking was excellent. And agree Youngs had a good game.
Apart from the result , was a fine game to watch

I actually felt we sunbed him a little early. The kick he put in which led to Billy's try was absolutely fantastic. To box kick across the pitch from near halfway and disect the covering defence for a 5m lineout. That's a worldie. The skill and confidence needed to go for that 50 minutes in says just how on it he was feeling.
Nice interview from Hartley at the end showing a bit of class by thanking the Australian's for their hospitality.

Re: Whitewash or Backlash - Austrlia v England, 3rd Test
Such a difference between England and Wales. When we were on form and doing well we came to Aus and lost when we def should have got some results. It's the "English arrogance"- and I mean that in a good way. Great sportsman need that arrogance to say, " I am better than you, I'm not losing". The opposition can feel that I'm sure. Really great achievement guys, hats off. I hope Ireland can pull it off later also!

Youngs was much better than previous games but his passing was still pretty dreadful at times. Bad times when Cole pops up at scrum half and had better distribution than your 9!
On the counter though, Youngs kicking was top notch.

not entirely sure what you mean by that - but let's remember this is the team you called stodgy, pedestrian and claimed would have been ripped a new one by the current AB team ...ebop wrote:NoHeaf wrote:not boring and arrogant then?ebop wrote:Well done England

Re: Whitewash or Backlash - Austrlia v England, 3rd Test
Spent much of the day so far taxiing my daughters around, so only watched first 30 minutes and a varied set of scraps from the 2nd half - and that was on my phone. In that time it was quite noticeable that Harrison looked underpowered and was struggling with the pace of the game and Nowell just did not seem to be at the races.
Overall our physicality was down on the previous two games, and the team looked tired - but had the sheer doggedness to persevere.
Well done lads.

OK you go on thinking that - England have just won a series 3-0 away against Australia who aren't too shabby, but you call them stodgy, pedestrian and claim the ABs would have torn them a new one - and yet you call the English arrogant for wanting to become the best in the world - jeez.
Of course you are entirely entitled to your opinion so let's just call it quits.

Before the start of this series, I predicted England to win 3-0 comfortably as they are the better side in my opinion. Got fairly ridiculed by a few on here but I was pretty much bang on (was closer than I thought but still a whitewash).
Well done to England and their fans, been some wonderful rugby played and ye are fully deserved of the series whitewash. Take some pints and be happy boys

Class congrats from Aussie players, commentators and people on here.
Wasn't convinced by Harrison before and even less so now, but early days, thought Lawes was excellent. So good to have a decent coach. I don't think there's even a fag paper between us and the Aussies (would have been interesting to see them with Pocock all three tests), but nice to come out the right side for once.

That was an epic game of rugby. Always felt England were controlling the game but every time the Aussies got territory and possession they looked liable to open them up.

Re: Whitewash or Backlash - Austrlia v England, 3rd Test
The English pack and Ozzie backs would be a useful side. Having said that, the difference in (tests 1 and 3 particularly) was really good game management and reliable goal kicking... some great tactical kicking from youngs and ford.
From an england point of view, great to see us cutting out the stupid penalties and closing out tight matches... Despite the tries we scored I think there's more to come ball in hand hopefully.
Fantastic to win 3-0 in oz. Credit to Eddie, the guy's a winner.
