SURREY VS KENT SPITFIRES NATWEST T20 BLAST
SURREY HAVE NAMED A FOURTEEN MAN SQUAD FOR THE NATWEST T20 BLAST GAME AGAINST THE KENT SPITFIRES AT TUNBRIDGE WELLS THIS EVENING.
Mathew Pillans returns to the squad (happy olly ) but James Burke is unavailable for selection after having an injection in his ankle earlier in the week. Kumar Sangakkara and Ravi Rampaul are unavailable for selection as they are both playing in the Caribbean Premier League and Gary Wilson is with the Ireland squad for their One Day Series against Afghanistan.
Sadly Azhar Mahmood still can't get off the treatment table
The Surrey squad to play the Kent Spitfires in the NatWest T20 Blast at Tunbridge Wells on Friday 15th July:
Gareth Batty (capt)
Zafar Ansari
Rory Burns
Sam Curran
Tom Curran
Steven Davies
Jade Dernbach
Aaron Finch
Ben Foakes
Stuart Meaker
Chris Morris
Mathew Pillans
Jason Roy
Dominic Sibley
Meaker and Pillans pick themselves to miss out so it comes down to either Burns or Davies for the last spot.
Davies is in better form but i can Burns keeping his place.
Over to you chaps

Agree on Meaker and Pillans to miss out. I'd pick Davies to play, but they might be reluctant to drop Burns given he's vice-captain.

Also agree on Meaks and Pillans.
Take your point, James, about Burns being vice-captain. However, on the other hand, Stewart and Di Venuto might want to show that no one is undroppable. I suspect they might just go that way.

Good to see there's dry weather for this sell out match at Tunbridge Wells. Too often in recent years matches here have been ruined by the weather. I'm not at the match (got a 10k race this evening). It's a very pleasant ground.

111-4 after 11.3. Davies gone - needed him to stay in. Should have been aiming for 200 - now more likely to get 170.

180 after 20 will it be enough on that small ground?

Small ground and a good batting track normally - doubt 180 will be enough. Certainly going to need wickets to peg 'em back.

And promptly whipped off so everyone else can go at over 10 an over when he was going at 6.5 an over with a wicket

Understand that although when he was signed, the general view was that he would mainly feature with the white ball. Strange how things have gone.
Anyway, well beaten tonight on the Corporal's patch. Even though we took the game into the last over, Kent always had the run rate under control.
