Rumours of Mediterranean style pro 12?
I've been reading in a few places about some people trying to create a new league for Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Anyone heard anything about it? Would it work?

Would it include Italy's two Premier clubs? Or would it just be their Super 10 clubs?
It would possibly help with setting up the third tier European Competition in the fullness of time, especially if one could be set up for Eastern Europe as well. If we've got 36 in the main three leagues (less Treviso and Zebre) you need another 24 clubs to make 60 and three competitions, so a Mediterranean and an Eastern European league of 12 would fit nicely.
They would then have 1 Champions Cup spot (play-off between the two league winners), 3 Challenge Cup spots (loser of play-off and two runners up) and the remaining 20 could make up the third tier competition.

First of all we already have a Medi-team in France. It is called the Top14. With only minor exceptions for a few clubs playing up north on the banks of the Seine and one in the Central Massif. I like the ides and the inevitable confusion of a league including Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy. And for good measure Gibralter RFC. Language confusion will explode, and that's before the usual transients from SA, Aussie-land, and Kiwi-land, join the rodeo. No one will understand what anyone says, unless they all (on hands and knees in supplication), accept Lord High English as the lingua franca (how ironic). .
