Weird... Sounds like some of Ryan Lochte's story about he and some of his teammates getting robbed might not be adding up. Not sure if this is maybe Rio police trying to shift blame or maybe it's not quite like Lochte said... I dunno...

Re: The Olympics
GPB,
Say what you like about Conlan's outburst, but it seems to have worked - his judges have been withdrawn from future action. Sometimes it's healthy to criticise.
Unfortunately Solo does it all the time and was just plain wrong, even if Sweden's tactics were park-the-bus and make sure it's a double-decker.
I bet she's in the slammer within two years of her career finally ending.

I've always noticed this when watching women's golf too. Many seem to be indecisive and are over-reliant on their (male) caddy to line them up and tell them what to do. I don't know if this is to do with the way they are coached, or because they start young and lack self belief, or if it's a cultural thing.

Harukyo Nomura from Japan on the 11th hole.
Shot tracker (Yes the women have shot tracker this week) says it was a 17" putt. IMO, It was obviously a guy doing the surverying . It was much shorter than 17".
Despite the near whiffy, she still shot 69.

GPB... they had the same leaderboard with shot tracker for the men too. I posted about it here lad Fri morning (abt 8:30 on page 2)
And thanks for the name on the whiff. I know camera angles can be deceiving.... but that sure didn't look like 17". If it is... then I can tell wifey I'm a 9..

The final group of Ko, Nordqvist, Hull) finished in 5 hr 36 minutes.
I think this is about 36 minutes slower than the final group of the mens first round last week. And the women had perfect conditions today.
There are lot of "It is what it is" problems with Ladies golf. Domination by robotic Asians, unexciting play. But the LPGA and LET can do something about the snail's pace of player

Anyone know why the play is so slow? Is it just a case of overly long pre shot routines or what. 5.36 is really bad.

Hated to see that American Judy Rankin couldn't make the Olympics for the NBC/GC broadcast team. She's been the stalwart for American LPGA coverage and a huge supporter of Golf in the Olympics. She was on tap to go, but had a respiratory illness that prevented her from going.

Lol, except I don't think that's sexist. If I wanted to be sexist I could have said the women are slow because they're too busy looking for a mirror to do their hair and make up, or struggling to park their trolley, etc. Which could also be true...

Re: The Olympics
Hadn't noticed before but given that this is a national tournament (ie representing their country) and every player, well all the men anyway, talks about how "we" played today how are the caddies allowed to be from a country other than the one they are also representing? Understand that coaches and back room staff are multi-national but the caddie, especially with the ladies, is integral to the play.
Appreciate they don't get a medal but imagine it would still go on their résumé.

The brits, as we all know, are understated and moderate in their approach to travel. We have improved the lot of many places with our culture and symbiotic relationship with the host nation. One only has to travel the beautiful, unspoilt, truly authentic areas of Benidorm and the costas to see these incremental improvements to the locals life. I mean, what dusky Spanish maiden would not go weak at the knees for a pukka pie or all day breakfast, 12 pints and a knee trembler against a skip.

We have improved the lot of many places with our culture and symbiotic relationship with the host nation. One only has to travel the beautiful, unspoilt, truly authentic areas of Benidorm and the costas to see these incremental improvements to the locals life.
