Can't believe Arsenal are making the same mistake again of not buying much.

Even more worrying for them is that apparently both Sanchez and Ozil turned down contract extensions over the summer, lose those two and it's not looking good.

The slightly sad thing is that I completely can believe it.
Mustafi and Lacazette could turn them into title winners. But, well, Arsene

It must be the most frustrating thing to be an Arsenal fan, knowing that you can quite easily clean up on the Premier League at present with so many other clubs in a state of rebuilding and all you need is 1 or 2 pieces to the jigsaw and that you have more than enough finance to go big on those pieces yet end up with mediocre offerings instead and fail once more.

The quite easily clean up the PL phase was last year. Arsene & Arsenal have now missed the boat

Arsenal aren't good enough and need a lot more than 1 or 2 players.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Where? Because I see a very good goalkeeper, some might say still the best in the league (not I), Koscielny and Bellerin possibly get in a best Prem XI, Xhaka, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez are all fantastic players, backed up by Walcott, the Ox, Wilshere, Coquelin, Elneny and Iwobi. And Giroud and Welbeck are decent options up front.
Monreal is solid enough that really I could only see a need for a top class centre back and a top class striker. If they had Alderweireld and Lacazette they would look scary to me.

Also:
Sunderland have agreed fees with Manchester United for defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love.
Borja Baston - Swansea City medical for Atletico Madrid striker in deal worth a club record £15m.
Tottenham's Head of Recruitment on the way out, heading to Leicester (I think I read)

3 defenders.
2-3 midfielders
Striker (though giroud under rated).
Loads of squad players.
Arsenals players are severely over rated for those that have achieved little in the game.
Even Sanchez who is a top player was fairly anonymous last season.

Think Ramsey is being heavily overrated.
Not a big fan of Koscielny personally, think he cracks easily under pressure.

He hasn't said, no doubt there'll be further updates as he narrows the choice down. If he's considering having a hot drink as well then I'm sure the internet will go into meltdown.

Kaveh from Sky
Arsenal negotiations to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi are ongoing. Will cost about £30m, Been left out Valencia squad for their friendly tonight.
Well that's a plus side If get that done get a forward and a back up defender
Everton paying £9m not £12m for Ashley Williams

Ramsey as an option in a squad is better depth than most sides in the league. Every side, I think.

They need a bit of depth in defence, but you surely cant think this Man United team is that much better than Arsenal?

I did haha! But still, he was and is a pretty fantastic player. Hes not world class, but hes another who probably gets into 90% of teams in this league.
I feel like the other teams in the league are being vastly overrated if people think they are that much better than Arsenal

He's got quite an impressive goal return, but at 28, and never proven himself outside of the Portuguese league, would have me slightly concerned & I bet it reflects in who eventually takes him.

Sanchez started 37 games for arsenal last season, most players miss a few games injured.
Cazorla has done very well deeper but let's not pretend he's a huge difference maker.
If Uniteds new signings do well then yes I'd say they have a better team than arsenal, that is a big if though.
Arsenal essentially have a good but aging and increasingly error prone goal keeper, 1 decent defender (not top class) 2 top talents who are inconsistent, 8 of the same player in midfield (small, want to go forward, no interest in playing without ball) and giroud.
They've no chance of winning the pl and having missed out this time will be back aiming for fourth every year.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
Cech probably second best keeper last year behind De Gea?
And Cazorla certainly is a difference maker, he really makes them tick and does a lot of dirty work you wouldnt expect of him from years gone by. Their fans will tell you much the same.
I think Arsenal are about as good as United, and with a decent centre back and a striker, depending on who, I would possibly say they turn a 6/5 combined XI into a 7/4 win.

I'd go:
Cech
Bellerin Koscielny Smalling Monreal
Pogba Cazorla
Sanchez - - - - Ozil - - - - Martial
Ibrahimovic
So 7-4 to Arsenal for me.

De Gea, Bellerin, Shaw, Kos, Smalling, Pogba (theyve signed him under the radar), Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, Martial and Ibra. But give Arsenal Lacazette and a strong centre back and I may switch two in straight away

Ibrahimovich has been outperforming Lacazette for years in Ligue 1 although that isn't anything compared to Crimey saying he'd have Cech over De Gea.
