That'd be a really good move for Newcastle. Don't think he's good enough for Liverpool but he'd likely tear up the Championship if he can stay fit.
Shame. Was delighted when we first bought him but really hasn't progressed at all.

Apparently, we are not pursuing him now. Guess we're happy with just getting Atsu. Just hope we don't end up spending £4.5m on McManaman
Looks like Jonathan Kodjia close to signing for @AVFCOfficial in a £15m deal

McCormack I'm happy with, has played well.
Talking to Bristol City fans on Saturday night, most of them don't rate Kodjia.
They were laughing when they heard he might be going to Derby for £14m.
They'll be happy with the money now.
We will see how he does. Won't judge till he's played a good few games.
We desperately need a winger by tomorrow.

Sakho has turned down moves to Stoke City and West Brom as he expects bigger clubs to be interested. Liverpool have told him he HAS to accept a loan move to build up his fitness and form before the end of the window or his time at Liverpool is finished.
Him and Klopp must have had a real falling out. It seems things have really escalated from when Sakho was sent home from the US.

Klopp also appeared to have "punished" Sturridge on Saturday which, IMO, ultimately backfired. As much as I like Firmino and appreciate Klopp likes his workrate and attitude, sometimes you have to realise that you need players with Sturridge's natural finesse. I wouldn't be averse at times to dropping Countinho and bringing him on as an impact player as I don't think he's run games as people seem to expect him to do. Mane's had more of an influence.
Also think there's a bit of needle with Sturridge and Mane as Mane "bumped" Sturridge after being subbed at the weekend. Me? I think it's good as Sturridge will thrive on it if given the opportunity. Like he said about Suarez, I don't have to like the guy to form a partnership with him.

Not heard anything about it being punishment for Sturridge. I just genuinely think he wasn't the right player for the game. To be honest, I actually was surprised by Spurs approach, Liverpool ended up looking like the home side which I think left Klopp confused as to approach the game because we were set up to counter.
Both teams seemed to want to attack on the break, which left both sides just waiting for the other to commit.

West Brom also reportedly wanted to bid £20 million for Sakho, but Liverpool don't want to sell. Seems they're desperate to buy a Sakho this summer. Bid for Bakary Sako coming?
Sakho will be moving to Sunderland tomorrow on loan. Depressing move that, hopefully he sorts his attitude out.

Crazy, unless Conte plans to play him in midfield I don't understand that at all. He's surely not disciplined enough to work in his system.

No but he is mobile enough to work in a 3-5-2 which is what Conte likes plus with Marcos Alonso who plays a wing back kind of role it's possible.

two other centre backs to cover for his defensive mistakes?

Centre back thing is a bit weird for Chelsea, given they have two potentially top CBs to come back in the next 12 months (Zouma from injury and Christensen from Gladbach). Not going to pretend to have seen loads of Christensen in Germany, but was their Player of the Season in a team finishing fourth - so must have been decent.

I just assumed they weren't going to be playing 3-5-2, shown no indication of it so far and not sure they have the depth to make it work. Not to mention they are getting rid of Juan Cuadrado who would be perfect in the wide midfield role.

He's mobile, good on the ball and would have two defenders with him. He'd be pretty much exactly what Conte wants in a sweeper, covering behind and bringing it out.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
He's an improvement on Diouf, but the same kind of player, assumed they were looking for a different kind of forward.
Jack Wilshere's star really has fallen, a chance to rebuild his career, but I can't but feel this is the start of the end for him as a top level player. Bournemouth is probably the better option as they play closer to what Arsenal play like and I actually think they're less likely to get relegated than Crystal Palace.
Fulham are in for Emmmanuel Adebayor. I know he didn't play fantastically well for Crystal Palace, but I am surprised that no other Premier League sides fancied picking him up on a free.

Slaven Bilic hoping to get Micah Richards at West Ham today. Season-long loan from Aston Villa, with view to permanent deal #whufc #avfc
"Hoping to get" is probably being used for "just wants a spare right back, doesnt care who so may as well get" Micah Richards. Hes fine for a back up. Not excited or anything, but we've done our main work now so Richards as cover is a little squad filler deal I dont mind.

I guess this is the phase where Arsene is getting Jack to check Eddie out before his future takeover of the hotseat tbh.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 16/17
If Tottenham sign Moussa Sissoko as expected, can this be considered a good transfer window for them?
I'm not so sure, I think Wanyama is a good signing and they got him for cheap, but not sure he significantly improves their first eleven. It means they have been able to cover for Dembele's injury quite well but not sure he's the signing to take them to the next level. Vincent Janssen is another good signing but again, he doesn't even make their first eleven, imagine we'll mainly see him in the Europa League.
If I were a Spurs fan I'd be disappointed in Sissoko, he has shown to be incredibly inconsistent and often lazy. Not sure he's even a particular improvement on Nacir Chadli who they've just let go.
I think depth is obviously important, but considering they've let more players leave than they have brought in, not sure they've actually improved their depth and they will still likely struggle to go deep into Europe and compete in the league.

Think that's a decent move if done fairly cheap, worked with Moyes before and always good for a few goals. Discount Thomas Muller.

Joe Hart has confirmed move to Torino. Really odd move that, you'd assume a bigger club would be interested, guess goalkeeper is just one of those positions where loans don't make that much sense. Weird that Szczesny is at Roma on loan really, that would have made more sense for Hart, Guardiola decided too late really.
Sunderland trying to sign John Ruddy as well.

Or does that reflect he's actually not as great a keeper as some perceive. I think England have better keepers and wouldn't have Hart in the squad.
