SA vs NZ series Empty SA vs NZ series

First day yesterday - South Africa will be pretty disappointed as they ended on 236-8 with Trent Boult and Neil Wagner doing the damage

Check out Kane Williamson's catch as well - a real stunner

Weather is playing spoilsport, but the game is already evolving into a good one. Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander, bowling together after a long time, were making the ball talk, shout rather! and Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson had done pretty well to limit the damage to just 2 wickets in 12 overs or so. Before that, the New Zealand attack combined well to restrict South Africa to 263. Didn't watch the game on day one, only followed in parts on cricinfo. But it was really wonderful to watch Steyn and Philander back in action. Philander was getting the ball to move miles, and Steyn, while not bowling at great speeds, was everything else that he used to be fore the long injury chain hit him. Young Rabada hadn't even bowled when the rain came to save the day for NZ.
South Africa though, yet again going in with 4 bowlers and JP Duminy. Duminy was playing for the injured skipper AB de Villiers, meaning South Africa do not have a 5 bowler strategy in the pipeline. Duminy, as has been the general case with him, was mediocre, so when AB returns, it is very likely that he'll have to miss out. And in any case he hasn't been bowling all that much.
Steyn, Rabada and Philander are so valuable resources, that South Africa will have to really lookafter them. Think they have to take a call on Faf du Plessis and Duminy, and bring in an all-rounder, perhaps Chris Morris or someone else soon.

I like games where bowling dominates...as appears to be the case in this test
competitive.....batting become a art of higher level......and even a bit of rain doesn't kill the game

If they can't have sporting tracks, then if anyone has that little extra, then it has to be the bowler!

I do not like wickets where average bowlers can do well though. We saw far too many of those in county cricket last summer.

Wickets with a bit of pace and bounce reward good batting and good bowling.

a solid show by SA's top 5 ...each getting a 50 and captain Faf a 100
they have 3 seamers, a spinner and Van Zyl is seemingly a batting allrounder ...who bowls medium pace seam up.....and they have JP duminy to bowl spin in case in the 4th inning pitch accords some

NZ are a good side but start on the back foot

SA it seems are heading towards a comfortable and humongous win.....chasing 400 NZ are 18-4 in the 4th inning

0,0,5,0,7*,5*, are the scores of the batsmen in their second inning.....not juts a¨phone number but one with an international dialling code:D

It did seem ridiculous when CI billed NZ as the favorite at the start of the series
