US Open - Day Six

Can Murray and Evans make it four British in the Fourth Round. Both face totally different challenges. Murray faces Lorenzo who had a marathon match lasting almost five hours in the previous round whilst Evans faces dual slam winner Stan Wawrinka. Also Del Potro is in action as are Dimitrov and Kyrgios.

Evans holds serve despite being taken to deuce and his first serve deserting him there and leads 6-4 3-6 7-6 3-3.

Evans has a break point in the seventh game of the fourth set.

Evans nets a sliced shot into the net. Deuce.

Stan holds his nerve and serve to lead 4-3.

A lengthy rally and Stan nets but a double fault follows. Deuce.

Wawrinka wastes a good chance to break pushing a forehand well wide. Deuce.

This is a lengthy game. Dan needs this one badly.

Evans wins a long long game and back level at 4-4 in the fourth as we approach three hours of play.

Stan has a more straight-forward service game holding to lead 5-4. Evans to serve to stay in the fourth set.

Meanwhile, Kei Nishikori virtually home and hosed in four sets against Mahut.

Evans holds serve and it is 5-5.

Wawrinka holds his nerve and leads 6-5. Evans to serve to stay in the fourth set again. Match of the tournament contender is this.

You feel Evans will either win or lose this match on this tie-breaker.

Evans leads 2-1 as it goes with serve.

Stan hits a nervy shot into the net. Evans 3-1.

Stan composes himself to take the next point. Evans still with mini-break.

Stan sprays a backhand well wide. Evans 4-2.

A mini-break apiece. Evans leads 5-3.

Evans just misses a down the line shot. He still leads 5-4.

Ouch. Double fault Evans 5-5.

Wawrinka hangs tough. 6-6.

Stan's trusty backhand comes good. 7-6. Set point.

Evans wins the point at the net. 7-7.

Evans misses golden chances for the point and Stan wins it to have another set point but Evans out slices Stan. 8-8.

Second serve ace for Stan. 9-8 and another set point.

Dan pushes a cross court shot wide and Stan bags the tie-breaker and you can't help but feel the match has gone right there.

Two sets all after three and a half hours and you'd back Stan's superior fitness and experience now.

Just one or two loose points. Chilean TV finally cutting to the match deep into the tiebreak. I mostly only have 1 channel for this US Open.

And Kyrgios will be loving this Wawrinka/Evans match as he plays (or probably will play) the winner of this match and it will be four hours long match for them.

Monumental from Dan the Man, but maybe this is the end. He has to slow the game down to avoid the double break.

Evans unravelling sadly and looks to be cramping. Now up to Stan to complete the coup de gras as he smells a second break of serve which he gets with a double break.

Stan leads 4-6 6-3 6-7 7-6 3-0.
