Their problem is that over the last few years they've moved away from their Green roots to become a socialist party for the Labour left protest vote - Corbyn may be a disaster for Labour overall, but he has totally reclaimed the position that the Greens were operating in.

They might do OK in the big University towns, as students like their idealism, but they aren't in a position to exploit the gap in the centre ground - I actually think if the Lib Dems had a half-decent (pragmatic) leader, they'd be doing rather well at present, but I don't think Farron makes himself heard enough and is a bit too much of a Liberal idealist.

They need to become the protest party....The Libs used to be...Then when they went blue in 2010...UKIP became the protest party...

They are dying fast...

Not sure being a party of the left really matters....They have to hoover up the disgruntled and get into the mix before the Liberals get a second wind and put 2010-2015 to bed..

If those idiots had their way, we'd all be living in eco-homes made out of recycled waste, we'd be back to using horse and cart public transport and electricity would only be available when the sun shines and the wind blows.

The US could also forget about having the UK as a military ally in future, as our armed forces would be on a par with Leichtenstein.

We could also forget about Brexit, as they'd run our economy so far into the ground we'd need Greece-sized bail-out loans.

Nobody except sandal-wearing, tree-huggers have ever taken them seriously and hopefully this will never change.

Gone from less than one percent to three percent..

That is a lot of voters....and it is mainly protest...and a home for Sanders fans that don't want to spoil their ballot..

The door is open here...All the parties have baggage..

They haven't acquired much if any...

While there is much to admire about America, there is also much that makes you go WTF?

You're being harsh...Trump has been a larger than life figure for over 40 years in the USA....No bigger example of the American dream..

There isn't anybody to compare him to here..

Plus he won because he had 16 opponents that shared the establishment vote..

By the time it was him and Cruz the race had come to New England...Not a happy area for ultra right wing bible bashers.

Agree to an extent but not sure the American Dream involves inheriting a considerable sum of money from one's wealthy father.

Not sure being born with diddly is much of a dream..and there is a modern tendency towards forgetting the first part..

I thought the American Dream was about making your way in the world through honest hard work? Sure Trump is swimming in money, but what other part of his life corresponds to that?

As far as I can tell the guy is a remorseless sleazebag...even by normal political standards.


Still, it does highlight the fact that there is something very wrong with US politics, that someone like him can become the peoples' champion.

Pointed that Alan Sugar and Philip Green come up together.  What a curious twosome they are.  Two self made... *ahem* men who worked hard and wheeled and dealed themselves *legally* to the top.
But what's with that distinct style that a certain class of 'self-made' men seem to adopt?  The greased down curly longish grey hair, the rough stubble - in brief, is Philip Alan's son?
