Re: V2 WWC 2016- 1st Round Group C
Let's get the 4 I'm not voting for out the way first
Andrade Almas- I've never been an avid watch of Lucha but I've always like La Sombra, he was an excellent young wrestler with a great look and by all accounts he was very charismatic in his native tounge, that said he's not clicked in NXT on any level, hopefully a break and possibly a heel turn or a return to the mask will do him some good
Enzo & Cass do their thing, I enjoy it but that's it and I can't consider them serious contenders
Alexa Bliss has come on in spades since her move to Smackdown, she's ver charismatic and he work is patchy but good enough, still I can't quite see her at a level to seriously consider voting for her
Metalik is a guy I came closest to making a contender, weirdly WWE of all places, not New Japan or even CMLL, was the promotion that started using the guy to his full potential, he was one of the standouts of the CWC and had some great matches but like I said I don't follow Lucha so I never saw him do much prior to the CWC and he's yet to debut in the crusierweights, with all that said I just couldn't bring myself to make the guy a contender
Now onto the top 3
Ishii is an easy first place vote, the guy is on a 3/4 year run that makes him a serious contender for best in ring worker in the world (save for a run of patchy matches with Makabe which brightly 50% of his 2015, but no ones having great matches with Makabe so I won't hold that against him), he opened the year with a MOTY double header against Shibata at the Dome and New Beginning, followed up with 2 excellent matches in the New Japan Cup against EVIL (yes that's really his name) and Naito, his first world title challenge against Naito at a show I forget the name of was better still, he was one of the stand out performers of the G1 having great matches with Tenzan, Marifuji, Goto and Tanahashi, his match with Okada though was a standout and one many, including Meltzer have given 5*, in between times he's done great work in tags with the rest of his Choas B team, his dynamics with Ospreay, Hashi and Goto are all terrific and he recently had the best IWGP tag team match that New Japan have had in forever in what is a weak division for them, abroad he's done some great stuff in ROH against Strong and Fish as well as over here in Rev Pro where he had another MOTY contender against Hero, Ishii is easily one of my favourite wrestlers in the world just now and I'd say he would be a strong favourite for this whole thing if New Japan were a little more widely watched on this board (not a jibe just a fact), for me in terms of in ring output this year there's few who can challenge him
Now onto the hard decision, Nakamura or Alpha
I love both of them but it's hard to deny they've fallen down in certain areas this year, Alpha had some great matches with the Revival but nothing standout outside of that and they've been non entities on Smackdown, pushed aside for the Slater & Rhyno stuff
This next statement might be controversial but I've not been blown away by Nakamura in NXT, his intro in Dallas was breathtaking but since then I've been a little underwhelmed, he seems to be trading on his charisma and his big matches with Aries and Joe, the matches where he's normally at top form, have been mildly dissapointing, maybe that's unfair and he's just a victim of my expectations but I feel like outside of Dallas, NXT has yet to really experience Nak at his world beating best, it's also worth considering his amazing match with Styles at Wrestle Kingdom though it's crazy to think that actually occurred this year!
I think I'm going to go with Nakamura over Alpha as I've enjoyed his big matches more than theirs but I feel like they've both got more to give for one reason or another

Went Nakamura and American Alpha, both with some exceptional work in NXT in the last 12 months. Enzo and Cass a very close 3rd.

Havent seen enough of Ishii to make an informed choice so went with AA and Nakamura, who have both had MotY candidates.

I'm surprised I think Dean has had one of his better years this year provided you're will to look for it, I'll elaborate when we get to his group but a few times this year he's been on for a couple of month stretches and he's been great
