Week Five Tactics
Hull v Burnley
vs
- Hull:
- Hero wrote:Marshall
Henrichs---Orban---Maguire---Stafylidis
Mor---Keita---Kimmich---LemarMuriel---DembeleContinue again with pace abuse going forward, hitting hard and fast on the break through the wings, soak pressure and explode when opportunity allows. If Afro plays 3 at the back then have the 2 strikers pull away to drag markers with them whilst the wingers move into the space left. Defensively keep it simple and compact at the back with 2 lines of 4, limit space and striking chances, move the ball out to the wings.
Subs: Dolberg & Winks for Dembele & Keita 75m

Keane---Barzagli---Alvarez

Bernardeschi---------Otavio
Grey
Subs: Robinson, Mee, Gudmondsson, Pienaar, Vokes, Bamford, Barnes
Tactics:
Defence
3 at the back with hard working midfielders ahead to reduce space and negate threat of pace.
Higher pressure to test experience and decision making of youngsters.
Barzagli to pick up striker. Keane will pick up second striker if there is one. Alvarez watching for runners from deep with Keane if he is spare. Defour to sit and protect back four with Bakayoko’s support. Wingbacks pick up wide men
Attack
Using high pressure game to win ball back and attack with pace & urgency, stretch them out of shape and use their inexperience against them.
Bernardeschi and Otavio in free roles behind Grey, but the three interchange, creating uncertainty and hesitation.
Wingbacks to get up and down the pitch too. Bakayoko to get box to box and support front three, Defour to pull strings from deep.

Patient play is required today. The back 4 are to stay solid being protected by Motta and Capoue. Look to squeeze out the danger in the final third. Rudiger on the cover for Kaboul. Be prepared for the aerial battle against Negredo, don't let him bring the ball down and hold the ball up. I want to control the midfield when in possession, use the ball cleverly and patiently, be efficient. Rabiot is missing today so they will lose some presence in front of the defence so lets take advantage. Our front 3 behind Immobile are to work as a unit in behind, push on into that area in possession and look to play him in, don't be afraid to swing the ball in from out wide or to hit a longer pass to him. Immobile to be efficient and take chances.

Subs - Guzan, Barragan, Nsue, Clayton, Forshaw, Traore, Negredo
Looking to dominate the midfield with 3 players who can all attack and defend. Get the ball forward quickly to Rashford/Dembele on the counter, Ribery to come in off his wing and create. Attack the LB with Dembele/Valencia. One of midfield to cover Robben's standard cut inside
Bentaleb/De Roon sit on the deepest midfielder and prevent him creating (Motta?)
Chiellini to man mark the main striker and marshall our defence, Gibson cover
Only 1 FB to go forward at a time, get
Rashford run in behind the slow CBs, make runs for crosses
Subs
Winning at 70 - Traore for Ribery - extra pace on counter, sit deeper
Losing at 70 - Negredo for Locatelli - 2 up top and get crosses in

Re: Week Five Tactics
- Hull vs Burnley:
Voter 1
Although Hero did get Afro's formation spot on, I feel Burnleys attack could get at the Hull defence.
Burnley win.
Voter 2
I much prefer Burnley's set up compared to what happened last week. The three at the back works well against two strikers. But going at pace with Lemar and Mor against wing backs is also the right tactic from Hull. However, Burnley's team is better player for player.
Burnley win.
Voter 3
I like Burnley's 3-4-2-1 formation, I think it adapts well against 4-4-2 so expect to see them getting some joy against the Hull back 4 with Pace. Also it feels like Hull forgot and put little effort in imho. no sub bench? Very odd. My advice for Hull get the back 4 sorted and a better forward line not a Muriel fan and as seen with the likes of most forwards coming down from Scotland their not always great especially ones that struggled at Fulham to begin with.
Burnley win.
- Watford vs Middlesbrough:
Voter 1
I think Miky got it wrong today in that he though Negredo was going to play and wrote tactics to shut him down but Rashford played instead and thus the pace would have been too much for the Watford back line.
Middlesbrough win.
Voter 2
I really like the Watford team, they have a fantastic balance in their midfield. The problem is that their tactics are contradictary. On one hand they say to play patiently, but on the other not to be afraid to hit a long ball to Immobile. They need to pick one or the other. Middlesbrough's biggest error for me is targetting the left back. Holebas is a decent player and they'd have been better off going at the right back with Janmaat out. They would do well on the counter with Rashford and Dembele which surprised Watford, but I really do rate the Watford midfield.
Watford win.
Voter 3
I think overall Boro would of been better off with Negredo up top as Rudiger/Kaboul fairly pacey back pairing. Id expect Watford to control the midfield with their quality forcing Boro onto rare counters and occasionally getting joy but with Immobile/Robben/Pereyra id expect them to come out on top by a goal or 2. Advice for boro work on the defense and get some more centre mids
Middlesbrough win.
- Results:
Burnley win by unanimous decision - +2
Middlesbrough win by split decision - +1

Re: Week Five Tactics
No subs bench? Why is that needed when I've named who I'm subbing on (and have enough subs to make a full bench).
Totally thought I'd lose but that's just a daft point to raise.

Re: Week Five Tactics
Naah you deserved the win, my tactics were pants and done in a rush on the phone. My only saving grace was I thought you'd play 3 at the back again so went to split them and exploit the space. Wouldn't say man for man your team was better though, I'd go 6-5 in my favour if making a joint team.

Re: Week Five Tactics
So would others so I'm in the wrong!
I'd have Muriel, Henrichs, Stafylidis, Kimmich, Keita and Lemar from mine, Heaton, Keane, Barzaghli, Grimaldo and Bernardeschi from yours.

Re: Week Five Tactics
Am I reading voter 3 wrong or does it say I would come out on top by a goal or 2? Then it says Middlesborough win?

I'm only asking because I couldn't see anything positive for Middlesborough and only saw one negative thing against my tactics which makes a change.
