He was in a ruck and Edinburgh got a penalty - SHC lightly tapped him on the head and he rolled about like he'd been punched.
What a douche.

Stade 13 was so far off his feet right in front at the ref before Stade got their 2nd try, but totally ignored by the officials.

Glen Bryce really is awful.
Promising counter attack ends with him dropping a simple pass into touch.

All Edinburgh this half - Stade haven't done very much and have made a lot of mistakes.
Such a shame we gave them such a big lead.

Re: Racing vs Glasgow & Stade vs Edinburgh
If Glasgow fans are hoping for a better Tigers display this weekend they might get it. We tend to be less awful at home and Welford Rd rammed to the rafters and completely partisan does tend to help. I suspect the players will also be worried about being lynched should they roll over at home like they did away.

Losing BP for Edinburgh, which is actually a very good result given how badly beaten we were in the first half.
We can't just keep giving teams massive leads and only playing when we are 20 points down!

Makes for good tv. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come to make up for last weekend's Scottish glory.
Weir, at one point, was a decent club 10. Is he trying too much or does he need to go somewhere he is not guaranteed to get plenty of game time to push him on?

Did he not leave somewhere he wasn't guaranteed gametime to come somewhere were he was going to get more games, as per the SRU request.
I just think we (the SRU) need to accept he's just not very good. He's a backup player at best.

Weir - career so far blighted by 3 seasons in a row spoiled by injury and spending too much time on the bench. He had great potential - see his masterminding of the B team against the saxons. what 4 years ago now? Now he is in real danger of not fulfilling his talent. Yes he needs gametime and confidence. I had hoped the move to Edinburgh would do it.

To be fair, that game is an anomaly, nothing he has done since has been near that level. I think we need to forget that game, because if that was genuinely his ability then he would have shown something like that again.
He's 25 now and should in theory be approaching his peak over the next couple of years. I'm not saying we write him off, because Scotland can't afford too, but we can't keep giving him a career. Glasgow made it clear they don't need him, Edinburgh only need him because he's one of two standoffs at the club, but if someone else was brought in then arguably he could be let go, certainly out of him and Tovey, from an Edinburgh perspective, I'd prefer to keep Tovey.

Talk about hanging a reputation on one game.....
He has done nothing since and in fact is generally terrible.....

I did say before his move to Edinburgh I would be happy to see him go and play for a small english or French team - simply so he could get the game time and hopefully regain the confidence.
I just think he has more talent than we have seen. But is in danger of never fulfilling that talent which is a real shame for him and for us
Yes he should be at his peak now. He isn't.

Re: Racing vs Glasgow & Stade vs Edinburgh
Be interesting to see if Glasgow were willing to give Edinburgh Clegg to bring in someone like Hastings as a 3rd 10 or bring in a young NZ 10 with Scots heritage (looking at Rennie and Lineen). Dual register with LS to build playing time. Edinburgh get an established 10 who can kick.
Weir has not kicked on and maybe we should wait until the end of the season to see if he can build some kind of form. I am irritated that as a kicking 10, he seems to have moved away and gotten weaker on that side of his game.

I think we've had enough rank average fly halves from Glasgow for the foreseeable future thanks. We'll take Hastings instead

And do what with him? Teach him to play ten-man rugby and ignore the outside backs? The old joke among Warriors fans that Edinburgh is where average Glasgow players go to seem great is more true than ever.TheMildlyFranticLlama wrote:I think we've had enough rank average fly halves from Glasgow for the foreseeable future thanks. Yes, I'm aware that I'm setting myself up to look a total fool after the 1872 Cup. Then again, the point of difference between the teams last year was Matt Scott playing for 80 minutes like Ben Smith, so I'm not too worried about this year.

Re: Racing vs Glasgow & Stade vs Edinburgh
The slightly annoying thing is that Edinburgh, having been happy to play rubbish against everyone else this season, will probably decide it is worth turning up against Glasgow on Boxing day. Unfortunatley for them, their season is not going to be defined by the two derby games.
3 wins for Glasgow over the festive period, which should be entirely possible will put us right back in league contention and that is very much what we are hoping for. I guess tonight will show us if our form has returned for good or not!

Is it? Does that joke even work? I only ask because we have offloaded Kellock, Grant (former B&I lion....now not so much), Kennedy on loan who looked phenomenal at Glasgow and less good at Edinburgh, Alex Allan and Lee Jones in semi recent years, all of whom at the time were deemed not good enough for Edinburgh. In return you gave us Weir, who looks just as cr*p now as he did at Glasgow, Kevin & Glenn Bryce, again both who don't really seem to offer anything.
If anything the opposite is true.
