I'm sure the fact the Eubank name sells on itself will boost the numbers beyond what the fight should sell.

If any fight should have been PPV over here it was Benn V Eubank 2....Big purses, stadium fight..but that was cable...
Sobering thought to be asked to pay for Josh v Turkey.......and this.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
Kind of changed my mind slightly on my thoughts for this fight. While it's not a PPV view fight in the sense that we would normally expect, it is opening boxing up to a terrestial audience, which I think is a good thing.
Boxing on sky for example is only available to sky subscribers, and then only sky subscribers that pay for the sports channels. And even after that there is PPV on top! At least with this its a tenner for sport on a channel that otherwise wouldnt be airing it at all.
In terms of a fight its a mismatch but if it genuinely opens up boxing to more people and forces Eddie Hearn to stop making garbage PPV's then i'm in favour. Im not buying it, but Im looking at it from this perspective now as opposed to whether or not the match up is PPV worthy.
I think it would be nice to be offered more ad-hoc opportunities to watch boxing (or any sport) without having to subscribe to specific sports channels.
Think they need to come up with the goods in terms of opponent next time, I don;t think they will have any other option. Slightly optimistic this may turn out to be a good thing.

How is it opening Boxing up to a terrestrial audience ??

Pretty sure you can buy Sky PPV without signing up to the Sports package....

Opening up boxing to a terrestrial audience was the wrong wording. I mean it's giving opportunities for people to watch more boxing on terrestrial television. And they obviously have higher calibre of opponents in mind for future events, or at least you would expect so. To be fair the undercard is not half bad at all, better than the overall cards you normally get on channel five, for example.
And yes you can buy the PPV without the sports package, but you do still need to be a sky subscriber at the very least - unless things have changed recently.
Im sure you understand the point I was getting at, jeez!

Looking at that undercard makes it tempting, the undercard is a good card
But as most say, it sends the wrong message, put that on free on a Saturday night and you will have a lot of people talking about it
Unlike a Warren promotion, most of the fights are still happening

It's not reallyl opening boxing up at all, those that buy it will wonder what the fuss is about and if that's supposed to be a top contest the rest must be cack (bit like watching Stalybridge Celtic with your mates and telling them it's pl)
Waste of time and if it makes money is more likely to make Eddie think he can get away with more crappy PPV's

Thats the exact reason why I won't buy it

Buy it if you want to watch it......The PPV horse has bolted..
Don't let others make up your mind..
I'm not paying for this PPV...Haye v Bellew....Wlad v Josh... to make a stand or anything..
I just don't think personally they are worth it..

You are not buying the Wlad vs AJ fight?
Man so many people writing Wlad off, wouldn't bet its going to be as easy as some people think

No. I'm out actually but I wouldn't buy it if I was staying in.
I was just making a point that now I've thought about it, a tenner for a decent card on a channel that doesn't air boxing usually is not that bad of a thing in the grand scheme.
I think if it works it opens up another platform to watch the sport I love and it will be nice to be able to buy ad hoc cards without a subscription. Unlike sky or Bt and box nation.
And if it does decent numbers there's a chance other fighters might use the platform and we might then get to see some good cards in going forward. Obviously Its all in the content and I can't predict the future.
I just think the set up has potential now I've thought about it. Eubank Jr will get to a point where he has little option but to face top tier opponents if he wants to have any credibility as a world class operator in the future.
So far his career has been a strange one. But he does have potential as a very watchable fighter. So we will wait and see what happens next.

It's literally no different to PPV fights on Sky.

Yeah except you don't need sky subscription... Therefore people who only have a terrestrial TV service can watch it

Decent performance from Eubank Jnr but despite what every commentator seems to say about him he's lacking real punch power.

Agree. He must have landed at least 50 clean power shots and never really hurt him. It was the volume in the end rather than power. Having said that I think Quinlann corner should have pulled him out a few rounds before the stoppage. It was obvious after 2 rounds he had zero chance of winning and was being hit clean way too often.
Production was basic but hard to say as watched on my phone on Facebook. Commentator sounds like he's holding in a massive deuce and why bring McKenzie back??? Lewis a good fighter but as a pundit always been average even back in the HBO days. Ward not bad and good they had a current elite level fighter on I guess. But clearly it seems the whole thing was a shambles. Had 90 thousand people alone just watching on Facebook. Not sure ITV will go there again.

Having watched it on the stream that Melv provided I paid no attention to the production and in truth i'm never bothered by it, it's the fight itself that makes or breaks a PPV.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
Didn’t watch the fight but everyone in Social Media calling it a joke from what I’ve seen. Mismatch of opponent and Eubank lacking power was the consensus. No idea how the PPV figures did but I hope they bombed. If his name wasn’t Eubank then Jr would be fighting on undercards all over the country. Even worse was that they tried to portray Jr as a World Champion as he won the IBO title.....

The best thing to come out of the whole circus was David Price getting stopped. Not because I dislike him at all but more that it puts an end to Eddie's plan to match him against Anthony Joshua and having to listen to how it's such a massive grudge match and a huge fight etc. When really it would of just been a massacre.

Just watched the hammer V price fight and it was truly staggering.
He seemed to be totally spent by the end of the 6th. Hardly able to hold himself up.
What has he and his team been doing? Why is his conditioning so bad?
Ironically, his chin took some good shots. He just doesn't appear to last more than 3 rounds.

Remember Kelcie Banks back in the 80s....Looked the part as an Amateur......Had a poor Seoul Olympics but won pretty much everything else....
He was a giant bust as a Pro....
Some people like Price and Banks are just made to be top Amateurs..

They've bulked him up. Heaviest he's ever been I believe. So the punch resistance has improved but the gas tank is horrifically bad.

Haye and Bellow got into (another) Twitter feud over weekend, where Haye mocked Caldwell's cardio training for Price.
A bit distasteful from Haye straight after Price's loss but he was spot on. This was a huge fight for Price's career against a game opponent and he was certainly carrying excess fat and his cardio was utterly dreadful. It was his fitness more than his chin, which cost him the fight and unlike your chin, that can be improved from careful preparation.

ITV Sport were very clear on Twitter about a week or two before the fight that none of the card would be on ITV4. And Selby (undercard) certainly wasn't, hence the bluescreen furore.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
As noted, it was price fitness as much as anything that cost him.
Bulking up doesn't have to mean he didn't have to train at the same time. Some of us who remember the 80's HW scene can remember the likes of tubbs and Witherspoon coming in flabby but still fight 12 rounds at a reasonable place.
Truly shockingly prepared.
As for TV. I'd assumed that ITV would do as the other stations do. Show the card free to air a few days after. But I've not seen it scheduled, yet.
