I really can't see how this generates more than a million £. Unless we are all massively shocked and 150,000 plus purchase the event, I just can't see how the event is financially viable.

I really think he's doing himself a massive disservice.. he needs to be building his profile, putting in some good performances in front of as many people as possible. Very short-sighted move.

Wonder what ITV will be getting for the advertising slots. Surely the advertisers are more canny than ITV and know this is BS, especially the PPV element.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
Obviously it varies but, ppv channel numbers are generally low compared to free to air. The broadcaster relies on ppv sales for revenue over ad revenue. So in this case it will be the grand total of f-all plus f-all... which is approximately f-allTopHat24/7 wrote:Wonder what ITV will be getting for the advertising slots. The decimal point might keep moving nearer fight night. You may get to test your resistance at 12p by fightnight.

Maybe Milky, but anyone who pays for this is a guaranteed easily influenced mug. advertisers might take the view that 10k birds in the hand are worth more than 1 million birds in the bush.

At this rate, it could hit 12p ahead of schedule.
It may be the first ppv, where they pay you to watch it.

You don't know if it is selling yet....We are coming at it from discerning fight fans...Cleverley v Bellew shows there are plenty of dunkin donuts about...
His Dad fought on ITV....Name recognition may help the promo..

i think it all comes down to how easy it is made to order. I say unless it could be ordered in a semi conscious state in under 30 seconds it does less than 50k

Yes, because the way prices react to demand pressure is for them to reduce....

The undercard is free on ITV 3 or 4 (keep an eye out for The Wire, top class boxer)

My post is set in the present. Bit like saying you don't know if Trump will mess up on his big day.
I am aware of market forces
Too much haste by you in trying to be a sneering smarty....me thinks.
Feel free to add something of substance one of these days...

PPV marketed at £20 (£25 HD).........then about £15..............now £13..............
But yes, there's no way we have any indication of how it's selling.
So on the contrary, you're the one trying to sound a smart @rse, as always.

How many people book a PPV 2 weeks before hand though?

How many PPVs have to keep getting relaunched at reduced prices...??
Reckon buys crescendo to fight night, assuming proper/well marketing (non-existant here), with maybe a little initial peak at first release.

You can't even buy the PPV yet, you can only register for the service from tomorrow

£12 isn't a lot of money....Me it's the principle of paying for a guy like Eubank at this stage of his career.....
Couple of glasses of wine in a bar to others..
Wouldn't be too quick to write off this PPV...Unfortunately.

I have never paid for a PPV and never will. It's for mugs. The world is full of mugs. The reason for the existence of PPV TV, celeb magazines and reality TV is because of mugs. And lots of them.
Go to a late license pub to watch it, those pubs with a picture of a beer glass in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. That's what I do.

They tested it at higher (press annoncements etc) and it kept falling until they found a level they could launch it at.
Sub-£10 for the ITV PPV has not existed as a concept until about a week ago. When the deal was first announced nobody was selling it as a sub-tenner steal.

I imagine it's customers like you that help pay the PPV price for these bars to show it...
So in essence you're a mug like the rest of us..

There have no announcements or press releases until they announced the prices etc
Dec 13th when Quinlan was announced
The Eubank Jnr v Quinlan contest will be the first time ITV has shown a pay per view event. ITV Box Office will be widely available to viewers on television and online. Full details of The Big Fight Live undercard, how to register to view and the competitive prices for the bout, will be revealed well in advance of the event.

Eubank Snr was the one mentioning 20 quid. Not sure it was official, but he mentioned it a lot in tweets. Folk worked on the assumption that as father of one of the fighters it would be fair to assume this was accurate. Not the most unreasonable assumption in all fairness.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
It's certainly not PPV.
The one thing this may do, is bring boxing back to terrestrial TV.
I'm watching the ITV4 card tonight. Distinctly average.
Arnfield dominated a limited opponent and Davis did a good job putting away a durable and awkward European, whose had a decent record.
Jnr is coming across really well in the interviews, despite his father.
But, the most important thing about this event is, hopefully, this might mark the return of boxing to terrestrial TV.
The UK has a really good, lively boxing scene at the mo. If a terrestrial TV company and a promoter or two could realise that, things could be really good for us fans.
There are more than enough competitive, world class or close to world class divisions in the UK that a lot of good cards can be made.

I watched some of last night's card too. They were pushing the Eubank fight like anything. IIRC they were looking to charge £9.95 in advance.
It doesn't warrant it at all.

Re: Eubank Jr ITV PPV
If you want to kick start boxing on free to watch TV, you have to at least go in heavy (even at a cost) i.e. get names on there to entice people in and fan friendly match ups. It may be the first time for some and need to win them over.
I got into boxing from watching Froch vs Pascal on ITV, watching very low-key events won't cut it then asking for £10 for Eubank won't be successful.

Confirmed by ITV Sport over Twitter this weekend.
So there is no boxing on terrestrial tv.

Beat me to it Toppy, they had 3 fights on this weekend, not bad but got a bit annoyed at the cutting to the Eubanks instead of showing highlights of the other fights (I used to like Ringside for that).
I know they've got to promote this dud but have an advert before the breaks or something.

When Utd played Liverpool on SKY........It got 2.8m...........That's a big game....
When Frampton fought on ITV against a nobody they got 2m......
Whilst Eubank's is a joke fight...............I imagine the audience the other night was bigger than the usual Saturday fight live on non SKY ppv..
Not sure how this plays out.........It's cheap and crappy PPV has sold before...
