Kvitova knifed at home
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been injured in a knife attack at her home.
Kvitova has been treated for a left hand injury - which is not life-threatening - after the incident in the eastern Czech town of Prostejov.
The incident occurred on Tuesday and has been described by her publicist Karel Tejkal as a burglary.
The 26-year-old left-hander is ranked 11 in the world and won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.
"It was a random crime, nobody was going to attack or rob her as Petra Kvitova," Tejkal said.
Kvitova beat Canada's Eugenie Bouchard in the 2014 Wimbledon final and Russian Maria Sharapova in 2011 to win her only Grand Slams.
Earlier on Tuesday she withdrew from January's Hopman Cup with a foot injury.

There's some real sick people on this earth. Wishing her a full recovery.

She's had surgery which went well apparently. She's out for at least three months but is expected to make a good recovery. Let's hope so. Nice clean hitter with pleasing attacking style.

That has now been changed to six months out. It was her hand she holds the racquet with that sustained the cuts and they will need time to heal fully. Hopefully, she'll be back challenging for top tournaments by the second half of the year.

Kvitova has given a media conference today. She says she's been able to move the fingers of the damaged hand and has sounded very positive about her future.

Bumping this with the good news that Kvitova has submitted her entry to Roland Garos as she is making good progress in recovering from her injuries.
Even if she doesn't quite make it for RG, or at least make it in any sort of form, it's still encouraging that she's able to make a return to playing within the foreseeable future.

Very good news about Kvitova. Have always liked her clean-hitting style. More on the women's game - you've all probably heard that Serena is pregnant, with the baby due in the autumn.
They reckon the earliest she would come back, if she decides to return, would be the French next year.
