I don't see many BK's these days, what happened to them all? Would much rather have a whopper than a big mac or quarter pounder

But it’s true. BK seem to be a tad higher quality than McD, but it’s not reflected in the popularity.

Burger King were always a bit better than McD but the branding is not great. McD are branded as a 'resturant' whereas BK is the place for a whopping great unhealthy burger.Luvly
Little Chefs were good but you needed about 1 1//2 hours to spare and few folk want to make that sort of pause in their journey doomed to fail.

I'm a fan of the occasional five guys. Really cannot recall the last time I had a Burger King, though there is one in the area I work.

I've been to five guys a few times. I'm not sure it's any better than BK, but it is considerably more expensive.
five guys seems to be driven by marketing hype, I don't think it's a patch on Byron or GBK but it's in the same price range.

GBK, always my favourite! I remember when we had free time and money, that was always the favourite for a burger. I did Byron a couple of times, but GBK was the winner.
Oh the days before life was dictated by a child, and just as he is at the age, he is eating bit better we do it all again!

Congratulations Ben!
It's hard work though. No more eating out for me either... I have less disposable income than I did 10 years ago, even though my salary has doubled. In fact I had more cash 15 years ago, and my salary has tripled since then. Where does it all go?

The wife had a year off last time, i dont think we will get away with that this time! Kids just eat money.
Anyway, due date is tomorrow, ive got the option of a 7.30 tee time, probably my last round of golf for a long time, do I go for it, and keep my phone on very loud setting just in case? Kids arent born on the actual due date, are they?

My very opinionated two teenage boys prefer "Shake Shack" in these United States as the burger chain of choice. Also not cheap, however!

I think there are some shake shaks in the UK now. I haven't been to one since there were only two shops (probably nearly ten years ago). It was pretty good then but becoming a chain has probably ruined them.

I always find burgers a bit disappointing, never quite as good as I'm hoping they'll be.

Not exactly recent - I was working in CG when we agreed to them coming in (after I'd been to New York to look them over). Must have been about four or five years ago, given that I retired last year. Not bad burgers if you don't mind spending an arm and a leg!Shotrock wrote:This is the group I'm referring to Mac, does look like they made a recent UK landing ....https://www.shakeshack.com/location/london-covent-garden/

Just in general Mac, all the steak I've had over the years, I think it's a grossly over-rated and over-priced meat/meal.

Just got my hands on a ticket for the Ryder Cup Thursday (practice day/opening ceremony). Couldn't get for the other days - but we'll always have Paris my dear.
I need to upload my picture to the RC website to validate the ticket - and the explanation of how to do it correctly shows that the ET actually have some humor..

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading that.
He's very lucky that he had the family support to go on tour in Australia and then Euro Challenge tour. Quite an expensive lifestyle when home is NZ. I liked the analogy between golf and goal kicking in rugby.

Stenson pulls out of Nedbank after injuring his rib in the promo stunt at HSBC.
He was part of the "Peter Pan" promo that had him harness and levitated with Dustin Johnson.

I really enjoyed watching the Turkish Open on Sunday afternoon. First time I've been able to sit and watch golf on the telly for ages, and I was in luck with tense finish and quality of golf on display.
Well done Justin Rose. Really impressive finish to go and win the event under pressure from his playing partner Colsearts. The 18th was classic matchplay.

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
One thing I didn't enjoy on Sunday afternoon was watching Harrington standing around debating shots and his dozens of practice swings. God he was slow. Especially when he addressed the ball and you finally thought he was going to hit it, and then stepped back for a few more practice swings. Painful.
I understand sometimes for an unusual or challenging shot the player needs to go through a "process" with the caddie, so it was perfectly acceptable for him to take an age preparing to slice a hybrid from the trees over water to the green. It was worth the wait when he pulled it off. But every shot? His playing partners must have been going nuts, especially as Lowry and Aphibarnrat looked pretty quick to me.

I'm sure that half the time they are not genuine injuries, just an excuse to skip the event. Footballers do this all the time.

I greatly respect Harrington for his golf skills, but am convinced that sometimes him playing slow is a form of gamesmanship especially when with someone like Lowry who plays quickly.

Article here on ISM losing Westwood, Willett from their pro roster:
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/lee-westwood-and-chubby-chandler-once-close-friends-formally-part-ways-as-client-agent
Pretty routine stuff, but worth reading for the passing mention of a potential Challenge Tour event next year, which sounds like the worst tournament “innovation” yet suggested.

Yes Harrington was in the last group. He had the chance of a playoff if he finished birdie birdie or holed his second shot on 18 (he already holed out from the fairway earlier in the round). Fair enough to give it extra focus down the stretch.I'm never wrong wrote:Wasn't Harrington out in the last group? Chubby's getting on a bit these days, hardly surprising that guys like Fox & Willett would be generationally different. (Says he from experience - the key is to understand that.)
Who knows with lw1, but wouldn't doubt that the (arguably) failed PGA Tour venture didn't help.
Thanks for the link

Agreed. But I'm talking about the whole round, not just the last few holes.
As Kwini mentioned, possibly it could have been gamesmanship, but certainly it was taking the p1ss.

First day of Q-School today. Anders Hansen among those teeing it up; two years ago he announced he was retiring from the tour. He only played 5 events last year; this year he’d played two before the end of September, then he played the last 5 full-field events on the spin. Not sure what the deal is there.

Ned,
Is it possible there's another Anders Hansen? The original is also 27th on the Career Money List.
EDIT: Probably not unless the ET.com's got the wrong bio.

Funny you should say that Kwini, because there did used to be another one, although he’s not been sighted for a while either:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Schmidt_Hansen
I wouldn’t put it past the tour website to have got confused, and it’s probably a common enough name that there could conceivably be a third Anders out there.

It is THE Anders Hansen. He lost motivation a few years ago but got it back. After a few good results this autumn he decided to give it a go on the Q-School and try a comeback.
