Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
Good god man, are you followed by a raincloud?
No 12? Seems Farrell will probs be a lion, back ups Slade and teo.
No 7? Let's see how Underhill does, or a 7 in what form? A fetcher, why do we want one like that? Haskell, robshaw, Clifford. I'm ok with them.
2, Hartley and George. Quite happy with them, yes George will succeed him in time but if he wasn't a Saracen would you care as much?
3, Cole, sinckler, hill. Latter 2 just need more experience, will get on tour.
15, brown, Watson, Nowell, Daly(?) If brown doesn't improve we will replace. Not a biggie.
Poorly performing 8, well billy CA been injured, as has Clifford, Hughes is ok and Morgan's still about.
There you go, we have a squad. We're not doomed!
Now, u r moaning when we have gone unbeaten that we haven't played well enough, true. Could've been prettier. But it hasn't. So that's life, get over it. Or whinge about George et all as that'll make such a difference won't it? No.
Now I think we can do Scotland, and hopefully Ireland. Now tell ya what, why not start a petition to get Jones the sack as he hasn't tried the changes you want to see? Forget the unbeaten record, forget the grand slam last year, forget this potential grand slam??
Or turn it in, pick your dummy up and see what happens as we can't change the last few weeks.
In all, grow up and quit whining.

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
George is 4 years younger than Hartley and his best period is ahead of him.
I would think that England would like Hartley for his experience as there will be a lot of pressure here.
Also, Scotland will want Hartley as the chances of our Dylan getting frustrated and getting himself carded like an eejit are exponentially higher than with Jamie George.

12 - well if Farrell has another shocker like he did vs Italy he won't
7 - Underhill is still at least a year away, Clifford was out of his depth vs Wales but to be fair he was thrown in the deep end, Robshaw and Haskell aren't proper 7s but have done fine - still not much change.
2. You are right I wouldn't care as much but still becoming the player with the most caps without a start isn't fair IMO. Hartley has had a poor tournament so far.
3 - Latter two can't gain experience if not given enough opportunities.
15 - when exactly?
8 - Can't keep on relying on Billy like Lancaster did, didn't work in the RWC.
There's a squad but don't pretend everything is great. We aren't ready for the ABs yet.
You are right I am being a bit negative but have to talk about making improvements. You know we aren't playing well. Need to look to improve. I think making changes is the best way.
Sack for Jones isn't needed.
You are right I should lighten up a bit don't ignore all my valid points - don't put your head in the sand and fingers in your ears.
There are problems that need fixing.

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
There are, I believe win or lose they will happen after the six nations.
Re Farrell a one off, horrible day. It's fine.
7 not a problem.
George, after 6 nations probs. Lions picks will dictate experience gained.
3 they will go on tour with England, who knows sinckler may go to NZ!
15 again, after 6 nations if he doesn't buck up.
8 you know billy v became a different animal after Jones came in.
We have the summer to look at these guys, no sand required, not saying all is well but we will do it over time. If we do too much in one go we lose to Scotland and Ireland, or we stick to what we know and learn where we still need to improve and do it in summer tour. I don't get what's difficult. We don't experiment in our penultimate game when unbeaten. You know that.

I didn't see the Sarries/Falcons game but from reading the commentary I got the impression that much of the game was even, just Sarries had a habit of scoring when they got the chance and Newcastle did not. And that is what a team like Sarries are good at

Rugbyjk - England have won 16 in a row with Eddie. We also won one more against the might of Uraguay in our last game at the RWC under Lancaster. Hence we are on 17 wins in a row, and have beaten everyone of the major teams apart from the all blacks.
We should be on 19 in a couple of week's time

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
I hope so lost, and thanks for confirming the figs.
Seem to remember ab's record didn't include England?
If we beat Scots is record ours? I've just got a feeling, that if we lost against Scots ( no I do not want that heh!) We would probs be better vs Ireland. I don't know if it's complacency, fear/ pressure of losing or what but sometimes a loss can do you good in a bizarre way?
We'll leave it until the summer though, eh?

Yeah the record is 18. NZ broke their run when they were playing in the autumn. Can't remember who it was who beat them but am sure lightening doesn't strike in the same place twice....

Dry weather is great. Both teams like a running game so the nicer the weather, the better the game. Gone are the days when we would be stripping naked and doing a rain dance post match.

Yes let's hope it stays dry.
Back to the rugby, from an English perspective, though he has been prompt to hook people off when he says he's made mistakes in selection, generally speaking he has been quite small c conservative and hasn't done anything overly radical. Even the captaincy I thought was sensible and not out of the ordinary. My point is, even though he has been proven right so far, at which point does he deal with the Brown issue? I suspect it will be one for the summer unless injury intervenes beforehand.

Re: 6N 2017: England vs Scotland
no 7 & 1/2 what question?
lostinwales that's generally the difference yes - taking opportunities to win games. Being clinical. Doesn't make a game equal. If one side is 22 points up then eases up to preserve players for subsequent encounters, doesn't make things equal. It's going up a gear when needed and easing off when the job is done.
rugbyjk
It's fine if Farrell doesn't follow it up.
Seemed like a problem so far in the 6 nations to me.
George is odds on to tour the Lions and might even get ahead of the deity there.
When then? It's all and good saying he'll be replaced but hasn't yet.
Of course Billy had a poor 2015 6 nations and RWC..... Everyone knows Billy is playing well only under Jones.... despite Lancaster heavily relying on him and partly why England's form dipped after his injury in the RWC.
Weren't learn much from the summer tour. Won't prove much.
propdavid london I believe that kingelderfield is talking about Brown's lackluster form. Wasn't particularly good last year in the 6 nations either.
More often than not Brown doesn't pass to his team mates, also he's not making the breaks he used to. He's just not playing as well as in 2014 and 2015.

England, consider yourselves warned.
Great work Graham, keep it up, keep it real, keep it mental.

For what it's worth, I'm really looking forward to going to Twickenham on Saturday.
Then on the train home, Hagia Sophia has the Twilight boxed set.
Best. Weekend. Ever.

p.s. I've known sleep-deprived,hemmaerroidheamoroid, pile-infested rottweillers who were more even tempered than Lord Dylan of Hartley. He's a walking liability and Fraser Brown is twice the hooker he ever was.
Brown has had a great tournament. 100% lineout completion, a menace in the loose, its just a shame our front row has been getting a bit battered. Especially in the France game.

I disagree. Hartley's first start was in June 2009 after a number of bench appearances in 08/09 when Lee Mears was called up for the Lions. Sounds similar to the situation that is potentially unfolding for England here.
Following that tour, Hartley leapfrogged Mears in the pecking order, and spent the next couple of years battling the returning Thompson for the starting shirt.
If the incumbent goes with the Lions and smashes it, they'll probably walk back into the team. But if they don't and the man given a chance with England does, then there's every chance that player will retain their place.

So, the Lions hooker will be either the England no1 or his back up?
No wonder Andrew Mehrtens called you insufferably arrogant.

But which one is the number one, Jim? I really wish some people would discuss that crucial point. Maybe for the next three days?jimbopip wrote:So, the Lions hooker will be either the England no1 or his back up?

Should really be criticising the bookies, they seem to think the touring hookers will be Best,Hartley and George - probably in that order.
Difficult to pick a Scottish hooker getting pulverised at scrum time even if it's not necessarily his fault. It's about perception too.
Arrogant bookies!! Always getting it right!
Why can't they make it easy so we can all win some money off them?

Right you are, Ted.
Mebbe the really clever fellas on here could then remind us how that marvellous fella Dan Cole single-handedly destroyed the Glasgow front row, twice, in the Champions Cup recently.

jimbopip club rugby doesn't seem to matter to some.... for example Sgt Poorly.
Glasgow have been excellent, hence why I've correctly predicted two Scottish victories so far in the 6 nations.
Still need convincing Scotland have progressed enough to beat a team not called Italy away from home though.
Not impossible of course but still tough.

Let's talk about how many tackles Jonny Gray will miss on Saturday.
I reckon about 6 or 7

We never, ever, encounter nonsense like this on the Glasgow-Luvvies banter threads. Mind you we have the dyslexic Admin Boy on there keeping us in line.

Sgt Poorly sigh nothing interesting to say, surprise surprise. Yet again no mention of rugby.
Okay I'll change it myself - is anyone going to put some bets on the game?
Perhaps first try scorer or man of the match? Would be good to beat the bookies.

Ah! You see Sgt we poor misbegotten wretches from north of the wall are fortunate that we have RDW to keep us in line: the initials stand for Dyslexic Admin Boy. Well, they do when he's in charge of spelling.
