Happy St. David's day. A good idea would be that all players in International camp now take a week off to celebrate and be back fresh and ready to train the following Thursday... evening.

Definitely. Lots of female athletes bench more than me I reckon! Especially body building ones. Why wouldn't they?!

Unlucky? Just being realistic. I train, I lift weights. But I'm under no illusions that a female athlete and power trainer is likely to lift more than me! I'm not too macho to admit it. That's why she's a pro and I'm not, probably
Edit: just to add that she's competed at the common wealth games for Wales in weightlifting I believe. Therefore, I'm guessing there's not many stronger women than her in the whole of Wales (and not to many UK wide for that matter I guess).

Wasn't Rhiannon a bikini competitor? Probably not as she has her own boobs. Either way she wasn't in the heavy weight class - they compete in different weight classes and she was likely around 80 KG. For me that indicates she doesn't bench heavy, probably not heavier than you unless you're a knackered old geeza...
Do you know what the weightlifting entailed? I wouldn't know as I don't watch weightlifting at the commonwealth games. I thought she just wrestled and played rugby - before going on to be a physique competitor and PT. Either way I don't reckon she benches more than me, then again I am pretty solid.

Re: Happy St David's Day!
Here you go mikey:
Evans finished 9th in the under 63 kg class at the 2002 Commonwealth Games where she became the first woman in compete in two sports at the same Games.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non_Evans
A bit of Googling and at the London 2012 games the winning female in this weight category did: Snatch (fnar fnar) of 112kg and clean & jerk of 125kg. Now, I don't tend to do these Olympic lifts when I train but if I did I know that I wouldn't be able to do that. But who cares? Apart from you, you macho man you!

Ta. Well she's a pretty sh*t hot athlete isn't she?!
Presumably she snatched less, or for less reps, but that's a lot of weight for someone under 63 kg - and it's a snatch! I don't do Cleans, Snatches, etc either. I prefer to split them up into deadlifts, push-press, squats, etc. Most clean and jerkers I've seen are in bad shape so I'm pretty good with what I'm doing.
I am macho, thanks.

how much do you bench? All I can manage is 4 sets of 55kg. I must be doing something wrong.

Not a great deal more than that these days, Guns. But I do very little weights nowadays. More into running, cycling and some light mountain stuff so any excess bulk just slows me down!
This thread's taken a funny turn! Partly my fault, so I'll hold my hands up.

Same here too, Guns. Monmouthshire, the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, etc. are all very close to me. Hoping to do Velothon Wales this year but haven't applied yet. Doing the Tour De Gwent charity ride next month. That'll be the first big one of the year for me. I'm a bit of a fair weather cyclist to be honest!

Happy St Davids day to all my Welsh friends on here, you beautiful bunch of b***ards!
I loved the tone of the Scotland v Wales match thread - it really renewed my faith in the fraternity that makes this game special.

Sounds good. If you like charity cycles you should sign up the the ring of Kerry cycle in July. Its 110km of some of the nicest scenery in Ireland. It can attract about 10,000 participants so books out very quickly.
Its amazing though.

Re: Happy St David's Day!
None of those basterdes on bikes ever look at the scenery though - either too busy trying to achieve their PBs or too interested in networking about business to their companions (cycling being the new golf)
A group goes past my home every weekend in the better months of the year - and the guff is sometimes so funny to listen to as I'm out doing the gardening. It's stocks, profit margins, promotions, sales talk etc etc.
I live in a nice area - enjoy the damn scenery and leave the office for the weekdays

Surprised that they don't fall off their bikes if they are going slow enough for you to hear their conversations.

I have good ears, you can collect an awful lot after weeks and weeks of the same people passing - and anyway, it's not exactly flat terrain
