Wayne you've nailed it, exactly. Pick your favored players with excellent back ups.

Re: Yet another Whingefest
Wayne. We were told 4 years ago that selection was weighted towards the 6ns with a passing view on the previous 10 or however many months. Now its all about experience etc. For me as I've said I'd be going into the last year with a clean slate looking at players wanting to impress. So yes I suppose my thoughts on players can be altered by what they show. I'd be disappointed in seeing coaches ignore that. I'm surprised more aren't. Moriarty Tipuric and Stander at 8 could work. Moriarty isn't good at 8. Great tackler lacks top class carrying.

it isn't all about experience. its like your trying to appear dimwitted 7.5. It is a COMBINATION of factors with different weighting on players dependent on their entirely unique characteristics

Ok gwlad. Why hasn't he chosen paring? You must think that's a mistake. Good form. Winning lion. Great experience. Good leadership. Fit.

Assume you mean Parling. Um, because he is average and can't even get into his own national side?

Re: Yet another Whingefest
This fallacy of AWJ NOT having a great 6N, pre match versus France the BEEB put up the lineout stats for all the Teams in the 6N, the Team that headed the list were Wales with 99%, did you see AWJ get hit back about 5 yards when he took ball into contact against more than 1 player, NO you didn't, what happened to Jonny Grey when he tried the same thing against Tipuric and AWJ. Yeh you got it in one, smashed back. Let's get one thing straight if Jonathon Davies had put his kick into touch or better still that numpty Gareth Davies waited about a second more for Biggar to get into position, England would still be trying to win that game, because they always award MOTM to a player of the winning Team (unless Italy are playing at home and it goes to Parisse) it would have gone to a Welshman. Probably AWJ

He was in the lions 4 years ago. They won. In good form. Kruis hasn't been in the england team either.
Sorry wayne mistook your previous post to not be wumming. Seems you just want an England wales barney?

You'd be wummed by your own shadow, you assume it ffs. Not interested in a barney and not sure how that happens on a forum, this is a forum you know, polarized opinions etc etc.
Oh i see now lions 2013 victory does have value if it helps your argument.
Look 7.5 Parling is average, Kruis anything but. He is a destroyer. parling came in when Lawes got injured and Lancaster being a man who believed loyalty was important, he stuck with the guy and Parling made the lions. He was ok on tour but nothing special and hen he has definitely not improved since then and is not even in England reckoning. England likes to make legends of players - Itoje - and Kruis is one. Perhaps justifiably because even in his absence and Lawes, Itoje and Luanchbury preeminence he is still seen as 1 or 2 and will walk back into Eddie's side. Launchbury is the guy you should be carping about.

Kruis has been out because of injury, if I rated him yes I'd select him in the present circumstances, but personally I'd have had Launchberry before him.

You're wayne as well gwlad? Yes Launchbury would be on tour if fitness and form were higher on he list. Didn't go 4 years ago though so that's harmed hos chances.
Which are your picks where uou think Gatland and his team have made a mistake?

Re: Yet another Whingefest
I dont think he has made any mistakes because it's his prerogative to pick, his choice !!!!!!!
I'd have taken Launchbury over the irish fella but i like that he is a phone call away.
He has picked aggressive players e.g.Lawes and Moriarty, tells me he is going to war, schedule supports that.
It is naive of people to think that on marginal 50/50s he won't take some Welsh guy over some Scots guy when he knows the Welsh players and that is only one persons fault Townsend who was invited in but chose not to join and QED no Scot coach, no Scots marginal picks.

7&1/2 I watched Dan Biggar last Saturday take a kick about 5 yards from the right hand touchline (the wrong side for a right footed kicker) and put the ball into touch about 40 yards up the field, I've seen him do this with banana kicks many many times, how far would you think he would do it from the left touchline (the correct side for a right footed kicker) and it would have gone into touch. You only won that match because of the inaccurate kick from JD2. Tell me how many tries did you score from 1st phase in that game, especially from 40 yards out.
If you'd read my Lions posts you would know that I'd have picked Russell over Biggar, so no blinkers on this boy, the only reason I'm pleased for Dan is the fact he plays for us, and he should have gone 4 years ago. (the only Welsh starter from the 30-3 drubbing of you lot NOT to go on that Tour).

Nope. If gatland doesn't act as a professional and his picks for coaches also can't act like them they only have themselves to blame. My hope now is that they take note of the warm ups.

Oh I'm not bothered wayne. We won the 6 nations. Just feel this is a lions thread and talk of Wales being beaten doesn't really add anything on injured players.

No you do. And since you seem almost puppy like in your need to blame then you have your men, the selectors.

Seems it does not matter what any one says, if it not a Welsh player then they simply put, they are not good enough. Does not matter that England have won two 6ns tournaments back to back......That counts for nothing in Gwlad, and Waynes view.

He'll need to be, and not arguably, significantly so. Lions four years ago beat one of the worst oz teams in decades, just. The more you claim it as a positive for this series the sillier it gets.

Parling was a a beast 4 years ago. Didn't he give a post match team talk with half his ear hanging off? Kruis is getting back match fit and AWJ will be as the tour progresses. Relatively fresh before possible selection for the first test...

Indeed. What was meant to be a thread to monitor fitness has become yet another bickerfest. Makes it impossible to keep this thread updated, even though I really thought it might be useful. Really should be locked.

Yet another thread ruined.
The playoffs in both Pro 12 and the Premiership should create some pretty tasty match ups, both for those selected and those who are backups.

in terms of lions whinging i think the Scots definitely have the edge, England seem to be running a close 2nd - Haskell having a good blub this morning with some Irish murmuring but not much though BOD still gets a mention. Wales definitely taking the lead in not whinging about Jamie Roberts not being selected.

Yes i do agree with you England do have the most players going.
What more do i want? I want for the Lions tour, the Best players in their position/s, and like it or lump it AWJ is not the best player in his position.

I think you're right that AWJ is not the no.1 best second row in B&I. But he is arguably one of the top 5. And he is one of 5 selected.

According to your fount of knowledge, but then you think Sam Warburton shouldn't be going on tour too.
AWJ definitely is one of the best 5 in the NH, if not top 3. You wouldn't understand.

Why on earth would Roberts warrant a spot??
And Welsh fans aren't whinging because they have half the Lions squad despite most of the players being VERY lucky to be there!

Instead of pontificating on your high horse, why don't you go and have a look on the first page who started this furore. It wasn't myself and it wasn't Gwlad. Do you think we are going to stand idly by and see our players slated? Well I wont. I can't wait for the end of this season when I'll be leaving this Forum, don't need this sort of hassle.
