Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
We're linked with Fabinho, talk that a fee has been agreed and would be finalised when he returns from holiday.
If true this would be a great piece of business for United. Not only with the qualities he would bring to the team but should take some of the shackles off of Pogba too

John Percy reporting it's 30m. More than I'd pay but money is meaningless these days it seems.
Meanwhile back in reality we're signing a winger from Blackburn and a striker who played in the Scottish 2nd division

Wary of him having one good season, think there's a lot of good keepers out there who've had one excellent year. Think it's a good pick up when you've got money to throw around like Everton have but wonder if it's a fashionable buy rather than a considered piece of business

I agree, especially when the goalkeeper has played for a poor team which tends to make the keeper look a lot better.

It can work both ways though, go back a few years and you had Friedal and Jaaskelainen at Blackburn and Bolton respectively, both were at the time top drawer keepers but they made more mistakes due to having more to do and had those mistakes magnified because of relegation battles.

Then again, when we had Jussi his stats were incredible for shots saved. But he certainly wasn't the best keeper we could have.
I think it could go either way, but he is being overrated almost as much as Hart is now being diminished by people.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Pickford was always going to cost an arm and leg.
Was in the spotlight after several fantastic showings last season, bags full of potential and a young English talent. Its like the holy trifecta for demanding top dollar. Add to that the fact Sunderland despite finishing bottom bagged themselves £93m so aren't exactly short of cash where you could bully them financially and lowball them
A lot of pressure on his shoulders now. Not only is Everton a huge step up from Sunderland but that fee on his head too. He'll be scrutinised more than he ever was last season. I believe the £30m is based on add ons and its around £20m up front, still if add ons come to be paid he would be third most expensive keeper of all time
Speaking of keepers I wonder if any Premier League teams will take a punt on poor Joe Hart. I'm not a massive fan of his but he's better than some starting keepers in the league at present

£18m up front plus £12m add ons.
£30m is a lot for him, but he is a good step up from what we have already.
Does Moreno to Roma signal the exit for one of Paredes, Strootman or Nainggolan?

This transfer figures are getting absurd. When a bang average full back like Kyle Walker is being mentioned as a £40m anyway up to £60m player

It feels weird. We are also signing players early which is a revelation.

Really? I know it was only one game, but against Utd in the EL final he really struggled physically - which would worry me. I love the Pickford signing, but not sure about this, or the rumoured Niang signing. (Really don't see Niang as an improvement on the wide players you already have)
Do think this Everton splashing is done with the Lukaku deal probably 99% done in the background...so they'll know they have a fair chunk coming in too.

Paid way too much for Pickford imo. Easier for a keeper to stand out in a crap team.
Owner is loaded, suspect there's a marquee name to come after Lukaku

The physical side is probably the one area I'm wouldn't be worried about. Klaassen's game is based on working hard and he usually tops the distance travelled opta stat in games.
Niang I agree I am not sure about. Doesnt look better than Mirallas, Bolasie etc.
As GSC says it is owner funded. We were always going to spend a lot this summer, regardless of what happens with Lukaku and Barkley.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
With the suddenly not so Mesiah Pep all but determined to just buy himself and title winning side, Everton's new owners ready to show unlike Bill they actually have money & are willing to spend & of course the new laughable prices for anyone English and with a hint of talent, it would seem that the Premier League is all but ready to smash the 1.1 billion Summer Transfer Window spending record...I think we may even get close to 1.5 billion..
Pickford is a good signing in my book...£25 million outlay for a player whose position means you could get 15 years from him is a good piece of business and truth be told he only has to be a Shay Given level (i.e. very good not world class) for Everton to be seen to have invested wisely. I'm not completely sold on Klaassen and it's a rather hefty fee when you consider the lack of impact previous signings from the Eredivisie have had.
Don't think anyone's transfer business has particularly stood out as yet but City, Everton and United seem to determined to get their business done early which is always a good thing.
Does anyone see the £100 million barrier (single player) being broke by a Premier league side?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
So......I think everybody is used to reading some utter garbage in the papers when it comes to transfer season, but a tip of the cap to the press in Spain who I think may have just won the BS clickbait grand prize after reporting that Ronaldo has made the irreversible decision to leave both Madrid and Spain this Summer after citing he feels let down that the club haven't supported him in the recent tax evasion allegations
Ozzy, to answer your question on the 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of there being any truth to this story then the answer is yes. Ed Woodward has no idea how to negotiate transfers and I imagine with his instsistance on pursuing a galactico type signing he would throw money at Madrid

Expect this is Ronaldo putting pressure on Real Madrid to make them put pressure on the tax authorities.

I really like this signing tbh. Looked a really good player last year in, despite a new year resurgence, a poor Hull side. Deserves to have gotten a move back to the Premier League

In the crazy West Ham world of "nothing happens in June, nothing good happens after":
Giroud seems to be number one striker target as West Ham don't like the low value City want as Iheanacho's buy-back clause. Leicester don't mind.
Adama Traore an £8m punt.

He's a very similar player to Carroll but he can stay fit, although slightly worse in the air. Decent signing if they can pull it off.

The class in touch and movement will be different level, nowhere near the dominance of Carroll. Similar without being similar.
I'd rather a fast striker but Giroud is blooming brilliant.
